I was going to have lunch with a friend today who suggested weatherspoons (cheap and cheerful). I could not believe that their 3 small plates have increased from £10 to £15! Which led me onto thinking what else has jumped up a considerable amount product wise! We shop at Aldi so I haven't noticed a big difference YET.

Baked beans! Marks is the place to pick them up now at 50p a tin and just as nice as Heinz

Zuffe · 28/02/2023 20:18

My firm's hourly charge rate. I put them up by 8% in August and another 15% last month. It will also go up 12% in May . Our overheads are going up and if staff mortgages, rent payments and kitty-cat food is going up up 50% we need to be there first.

Cat medicine from vet.

Yes. Dog's meds have gone from £26 to £35 per month. His food has also gone up from £55 to £63 for 15kg.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 28/02/2023 20:20

Asda smart price pasta. Was 19p pre lockdown and is now 41p.

A cheap basic more than doubling is just awful.

It’s also out of stock more often and the next one up is around 80p.

letthemalldoone · 28/02/2023 20:20

Butter - 5 of us so get the bigger block - £4.75!!! I've gone own brand - nothing will make me pay that.

Cat food/litter too. We use the wood pellet ones and they've shot up from £3.50 when we got the cats less than a year ago, to £5.40!!

Crisp 'n'dry - £6 for a large bottles - WTAF?!

Could have got a loaf for £1 - now £1.70.

Love M&S honey roast ham - was £1 a packet for years, now £1.50.

Don't get me started on cheese either...!

Grabyourmotherskeyswereleaving · 28/02/2023 20:22

I’m not in the U.K., but the other week, I saw Fishfingers for €14 😳the others were €6-€8 (all brands) the shops own brand was €3 for ten.
Pasta and milk has almost nearly doubled in price and I couldn’t find a tin of chopped tomatoes for less than around €1.20, think they used to be from 30 cents to 60 cents

sittingonacornflake · 28/02/2023 20:24

@AutisticLegoLover my local farm shop. There were none in Tesco or 2 co ops I tried. Finally found one...nope! Not paying that!

addictedtotheflats · 28/02/2023 20:25

Skinless boneless chicken thighs. £6 in asda the other day. I thought the old price of £4 was a rip off

googledidnthelp · 28/02/2023 20:25

Cottage cheese in lidl.... just can't bring myself to buy it buy it anymore.

Also disappointed that Vimto has gone up but can't go without that!

NevieSticks · 28/02/2023 20:25

Thieving robbers at my pub lunch today - 2.50 for what is basically a mixer Diet Coke of 200mls!!

Richvanilla · 28/02/2023 20:25

Came on just to say this, I'm certain I started buying Asdas own brand cat food just over a year ago when it transpired to be the only thing my cat could eat without upsetting his tummy and it was £6 and now it's £9.20!

TheGander · 28/02/2023 20:26

fairgame84 · 28/02/2023 20:19

Yes. Dog's meds have gone from £26 to £35 per month. His food has also gone up from £55 to £63 for 15kg.

I work for the NHS in an ICB which decides on funding allocation and work with a medicines team. Prices as set by the manufacturers are going up, often by way more than inflation rates.

NevieSticks · 28/02/2023 20:28

Rapeseed oil is better for you and buy it as vegetable oil as - look on the label - that is what it is!

ToootToot · 28/02/2023 20:28

Tin foil: £3.65 in Aldi for a roll of it! It’s not the extra wide/turkey or extra string stuff either 🧐

LifeAtForty · 28/02/2023 20:29

Olive oil.

Butter (Lurpak I'm looking at you).

Cat food - used to be able to get a pack of Felix in my local Coop for £3.75. It's now £5.50!! My cats won't eat the own brand stuff despite me almost starving them in a bid force it on them.

Kitchen roll.

Cereal. Looking at over £3 for Kellogg's stuff so I've gone own brand.

Fucking everything.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 28/02/2023 20:30

My Step dads own brand diet coke 1L bottle has gone from 29p to 99p.

frustratednomad · 28/02/2023 20:31

@ByeByeLouisByeByeKlaus I came on to say Catsan too, I couldn't believe £17! No way am I paying that for the cats toilet, I have changed to a cheaper brand now which does the job just as good.

JaniceBattersby · 28/02/2023 20:32

Maple syrup. Only buy it once a year for pancake day.

EIGHT QUID a little bottle.

Will now be buying it zero times a year.

Also Birdseye chicken dippers - £3.60 for 22! Cheaper to go to bloody Golden Arches and someone else can cook them for me

FlippyFloppyShoe · 28/02/2023 20:32

I buy lidls cola now, pepsi and coke are at least three times the price and imo not as nice.
I agree with previous poster about OXO cubes, I paid £3 recently 😧

CharlieBoo · 28/02/2023 20:33

Most things have almost doubled in price. I’ve shopped at Aldi since lockdown and initially saved so much money on my food shop but everything is going up and im Noticing it weekly.

the bread I buy in Aldi was always 45p and now I think around 80p, but it’s across the board on everything. I have to really watch prices in there now whereas I used to just chuck little treats in.

AloudAlot · 28/02/2023 20:34

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 28/02/2023 19:27

Bugles crisps.

I used to treat myself to a pack on a weekend for mindless TV snacking. Thought 99p was steep for one bag but it's a treat right. Then 2 weeks ago they went to £1.19 and now are £1.35...for ONE packet of crisps.

Tbf that one bag is the size of 4 & a bit multipack crisps 😂

Toilet roll.
It was £7.50 for a 12 pack (Asda) pre lockdown, it’s now £9.90 (it was £9.30 last time I bought it!)

CheshireCat1 · 28/02/2023 20:35

Fray Bentos pies

Inastatus · 28/02/2023 20:35

MariaDingbat · 28/02/2023 20:36

The baby formula we use has gone from £10 to £13.50 in 6 months, nappies from £7.50 to £12 a pack. The hardest part is that things aren't creeping up slowly, it's that one week it's one piece and the next is £3 more expensive. How are you meant to budget for that?
