I was going to have lunch with a friend today who suggested weatherspoons (cheap and cheerful). I could not believe that their 3 small plates have increased from £10 to £15! Which led me onto thinking what else has jumped up a considerable amount product wise! We shop at Aldi so I haven't noticed a big difference YET.

Cat litter! The catsan has jumped to £17 😵‍💫

If you have a Costco card it's cheap in there.

Heinz bbq sauce shocked me £4 for a bottle when not long back it was £1.50

VictoriaBun · 28/02/2023 19:26

I saw Heinz tomato soup for £1.50 a can !

Timeforachangeisitnot · 28/02/2023 19:27

Milk. About a year ago I was buying MIL 500ml cartons for 50p. Now 95p for same size. I know it’s relatively cheaper to buy larger sized, but it’s off before it’s used up.

bellsbuss · 28/02/2023 19:27

@VictoriaBun that's cheap now , I've soon if for £1.70 in most places

RosaBaby2 · 28/02/2023 19:27

Supermarket own brand cat food was always £4.50/£5 for 12 cans, now it's £9.20 😫

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 28/02/2023 19:27

Bugles crisps.

I used to treat myself to a pack on a weekend for mindless TV snacking. Thought 99p was steep for one bag but it's a treat right. Then 2 weeks ago they went to £1.19 and now are £1.35...for ONE packet of crisps.

Nikii83 · 28/02/2023 19:27

Olive oil nearly fell over when I saw the price in Tesco.

also crisps used to get a 12 pack for £2 now £3.50
I love tyrralls the offer price used to be £1 a bag now £1.75

AutisticLegoLover · 28/02/2023 19:28

@sittingonacornflake where was that? They are 75p in Waitrose.

VictoriaBun · 28/02/2023 19:28

Yes you are right , I've just checked Asd a online ,£1.70 daylight robbery .

Colgatetoothpaste · 28/02/2023 19:28

Not hugely shocking but waitrose sell chicken wings. Around a year ago they cost 90p so were a cheap dinner for a family of four. We'd do a fake nandos with them. They are now £1.60 a pack. Not horrendous of course but almost doubled in price

Luana1 · 28/02/2023 19:29

Butter used to be around the £1.50-1.75 mark, now it's closer to £3 :(

Chesneyhawkes1 · 28/02/2023 19:29

Big jar of my favourite instant coffee. £7.50!

Camilliatile · 28/02/2023 19:30

My favourite coffee, used to be £5 for two bricks, now £8.50.

livingthegoodlife · 28/02/2023 19:31

Can't get over the price of those french fancies!

PuttingDownRoots · 28/02/2023 19:31

Pringles.
Used to be £1.50 or £1 on offer.
Now £2-£3 or £1.65 on offer.

GoChasingWaterfalls · 28/02/2023 19:32

Kenco Millicano Decaff Americano.

Used to be £4 in Sainsbury's but you could regularly get it on offer for £2.50 and I would stock up when it was that price.

Now it's £6.50 and £4 is the offer price!

NoSquirrels · 28/02/2023 19:33

Things that involve oil, and butter. So Lurpak, regular block butter, and olive oil are the big ones for us. All the things people are mentioning on this thread like crisps, chocolate spread, they’re all affected by the shortage of oil.

fairgame84 · 28/02/2023 19:34

Pampers nappies were £7.50 in tesco 2 weeks ago. Yesterday they were £10 or £6 with clubcard, so basically £10 when not on offer.

happyinherts · 28/02/2023 19:35

@lovemycbf Funny you should mention soda crystals. I saw them on shelf in Morrisons yesterday £2.50. Last time I bought them they were 80p.

Itsfridaynightok · 28/02/2023 19:35

I've noticed (thanks to online shopping) things have jumped up 20-30p BUT they are also smaller in size. For example cream which used to be 300ml is now 250ml. That's a made up example but I've seen it with quite a few things!

You must be joking about not noticing Aldi price increases. Some things are so expensive in there now. Waitrose is actually cheaper on some items at the moment! I was truly shocked in Aldi.

A lot of people have said this

I am
Wondering if to try Waitrose one week instead to see if buying the similar stuff is more or less

mafsfan · 28/02/2023 19:36

Total yogurt.

£5.50 for the 1kg pot!!!

jay55 · 28/02/2023 19:37

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 28/02/2023 19:14

Kitchen roll. Over £5 for 4.

Someone showed bounty at £7.50 on tiktok, I was agog.

WeAreAllSpecksOnARock · 28/02/2023 19:37

Walkers crisps price shock me £4.40 for 22. I don’t think I will buy Walkers again. Aldi are nice and a lot cheaper for more bags.
