Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

I've wanted a basic bikini line wax for years and still never got the courage to go even since I've had a child! Grin Really will try sometime soon...!

Also turns out that DD's bubble at nursery who were in Monday & Tuesday all have to isolate as there's been a positive case. So we dodged a bullet by her being off ill with something else! Luckily we are all yet to have to ever self-isolate for more than around 3 days.

Ordered new credit card as haven't had one for ages since I cancelled the last lost one. Also updated my tax credits info. Dunno if that means we will get kicked off it now though as DH's new-ish job is a higher salary than his old one. So we will see.

£125 shopping. Including lots of dog bits
£21 crocs to stop the dog biting my feet and sandals when we go for a wee in the garden
£25 box to put dog food in so he doesn't chew through the bag

Endless

meadow do it. It’ll change your life. Lasts for around 6 weeks. And only hurts a bit. And make sure that the place you go to uses hot wax not strip wax. Strip wax (where they put the wax on and then use cloth or paper or whatever to pull it off) hurts way more than just pulling on the wax (which my lady did today - it only hurts like a mother fucker because I haven’t had it done for a while and hair was long).

Got the bus home with the kiddos. Dds first time on the bus. She was a bit nervous at first but loved it. Ds is a bus pro. And I survived the bus with all the bags and two kids under 4. At “rush hour”

Mrsmadevans · 14/07/2021 18:57

My Dd1 said to have a bag of frozen peas ready to sit on 😂😂

Happierwithouthim · 14/07/2021 19:33

Yay! happier 🎉 🍾

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2021 20:02

Ah great news happier

Happierwithouthim · 14/07/2021 21:30

Wolf what's this about a pup?

Life woohoo 🥳

Em are you glad you did Brazilian? I've waxing booked for Sat, I don't think I'm brave enough & wonder would I feel strange being so bare Hmm

Meadow I waited about 18 years between my first and second bikini wax & I don't recommend going when you're due your period. I feel so much better with it done.

Happierwithouthim · 14/07/2021 21:30

Thanks guys Grin

Gensola · 14/07/2021 21:35

Congrats happier 💐⭐️😍

em I get an extended Brazilian, I really like it now and go every 4/5 weeks. It is a little sore but the pain only lasts a few seconds Grin and I much prefer it. It is not frugal, however. I left it for ages after the last lockdown and OMG it was agony because it was super long. Usually it’s not so bad.

We have been sorting out the weedy wasteland that is our front garden. It’s already looking a lot better but I now want to spend £££ on plants and a wooden bin cover Shock

HumbugWhale · 14/07/2021 21:52

Congratulations Happier!

I've never been waxed either Meadow, I keep considering it then just shaving. Maybe one day...

ememem84 · 14/07/2021 22:10

happier yaaaas Queen! Congrats!!! Xxxx

Yes I’m happy I did it. Dsis goes the full Hollywood all off. Not sure I could do that.

gen Grin weedy wasteland….that was me before the wax 😂

meadow snuggly agree do not go when you’re due on. Or while pregnant. I had one wax when pregnant with ds. Fuck that shit. It hurt. More than childbirth. Sentivitity a go go.

I feel better having it done. I don’t like shaving because shaving bumps. I would also always say to pay a pro to do jt. Never try and wax yourself. Just don’t. The beauticians don’t care if it hurts you. 😂

Gensola · 14/07/2021 22:13

em 😂😂😂

Happierwithouthim · 15/07/2021 06:32

I did it myself during lockdown, was relatively successful but then I went to beautician & had a reaction to their wax after having used something else Sad

Just budgeted my money, YNAB have a new feature I don't like it! It will auto assign your money

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/07/2021 06:53

I’ve never waxed either. I’m a natural girl with a bit of strimmimg Grin

£20 stationery for teacher. Don’t do teacher gift but DS really wants to. £9 on artificial grass deodorant stuff.

Gensola · 15/07/2021 09:03

Have cancelled a few subscriptions this morning so feeling a bit more in control!
Feeling anxious at the minute and not sleeping well, think I need to cut back on the coffee to see if that helps.

ememem84 · 15/07/2021 10:20

spurred on by gen' i've logged into my amazon account and have cancelled a couple of subscriptions. nappy bin refill and baby wipes. we just have so many of the bloody things because i went through a phase of having a box sent every month. but we have enough.

Taytocrisps · 15/07/2021 10:58

My fitbit arrived during the week and I put it on this morning. I've already earned a badge for walking 5,000 steps (I did a long walk before 9 a.m.). Go me!

Happier congrats. on your divorce. A bit strange celebrating with your Ex though.

I went back to my counsellor on Tuesday. I haven't moved on enough from the separation and there's a still a part of me reeling - it all happened so quickly. And life has been so weird since with Covid etc. I'll probably need a few sessions. It's not cheap at €60 per session but I think it's money well spent. If I don't tackle these things now, it could have a severe impact on my health and I could end up with big medical bills down the line. So, short term pain for long term gain. Same with paying for the fitbit.

DCat2 (the very timid, anxious cat) got up on the sofa yesterday and curled up beside me as I was working on my laptop, purred for a bit and then drifted off to sleep. She has never done this before! I was afraid to move or even breathe in case I disturbed her.

MeadowHay · 15/07/2021 13:06

Congrats Happier.

This house was valued this morning and was valued at waaay more than us/DPs were expecting. Which has thrown a spanner into the works as we were thinking of buying it but now I'm not so sure it's good value for money/good investment at that significantly higher price. Getting another valuation first though anyway so we will see.

DD still really poorly, her asthma has massively flared up today, she can't go more than about 2 mins without awful coughing poor love which is really taking it out of her. Had to take today as holiday again to look after her. Not ideal because although I've got loads of holiday, our team at work are really understaffed so in a bad position so my manager must be stressing poor thing.

Can I have some opinions please - DD goes to nursery 3 days a week and the 30hrs funding kicks in from September. However this still leaves us with a bill of about £70 a week because of it being stretched out over the whole year + daily consumables charge. On mat leave I only get SMP so we always planned to put her down to 2 days a week once baby is around 2-3 months old and I have recovered and settled a bit. However have realised that we could save approximately £600 if I drop her down to 2 days from when I go on mat leave in September. Which is a huge amount of money when I only get SMP, it's basically a whole month of my mat pay! But then I'm worried I might struggle with both of them at least at first...but I guess other people do it! Wwyd?

ememem84 · 15/07/2021 13:25

meadow we kept ds in nursery on his 3 days a week. it made things easier initially i think because there was already so much upheaval for him with having dd around. i think keep dd in her routine as much as you can. i get what you're saying though re money. but in my opinion it'll be money well spent.

you don't yet know how you'll be after the birth (whether its a c section or not - if it is you'll be grateful for dd being out!)

ememem84 · 15/07/2021 15:50

well. i've had an absolute mare this afternoon. i have a ton of work to do, but have been unable to log in remotely for the last hour. something has gone wrong with the connection to work. and i don't know what it is. my every so helpful boss has suggested that its because i use a mac and has suggested i just go and buy a laptop. helpful.

Lovemaltesers · 15/07/2021 19:14

😡 at your boss em

I’m with em on the keeping DD1 in childcare for three days until you find your feet with DC2. It’ll mean you can nap, when baby naps 😉

I’ve had no texts or calls reminding me it’s my legal duty to stay at home today 😆 When the person called me they told me this three times… I’m feeling better too and did some work today. 5 more days to go.
