If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Also thank you all for the lovely comments re the interview etc 💐 really appreciate it! I’m feeling pretty positive that I’ve got that interview under my belt - it was my first in about 9 years!

marthasmum · 12/07/2021 17:04

born and gen I really agree with what you have said re spends, especially re holding back and then going crazy. I also have a habit of spending and kidding myself it will save me money long term (eg getting lots of food in and saying ‘now I don’t need to go food shopping for two weeks’…except then I do.
It’s amazing how much of it is emotional isn’t it

MeadowHay · 12/07/2021 21:10

Ughhh DD has a temp. Covid test booked for tomorrow. Fairly certain DH won't get paid for any time off he needs to isolate so that's a worry too as he is paid more than double me. He doesn't actually know his workplace policy on it though even though I've been bugging him for weeks to find out as felt this situation was inevitable. Anyway fingers crossed we get a quick negative result. Does anyone know what PCR testing turnaround is typically like this days?

Spends - I won an eBay auction for secondhand maternity vests so need to pay the seller tonight, £4.80 in total for two vests. Bargain when H&M sell a two pack for like £18!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/07/2021 21:13

I think it is pretty quick meadow. Like 24 hours.
Having house move stress
I don’t spend as wisely as I should but I’m getting better at buying better buying once

Happierwithouthim · 12/07/2021 21:29

@lifelongfrugaleer

I think I’m going to book an admin day off. Toying with stocking up for the kids food for summer but now we might be moving end of the month. Who knows though we have been here twice before
Ooh exciting life
Happierwithouthim · 12/07/2021 21:32

Put in for a call from electric Ireland loyalty dept & got €210 credit in my account Grinshe mentioned an offer with super valu & a one for all voucher so I applied for that too but it's unlikely I'll get both.

Spends over weekend €61.50 dinner for my parents myself & children, €22 on a round of drinks in the local pub, €2.20 on daily mail Saturday

Happierwithouthim · 12/07/2021 22:11

Meadow wow this pregnancy is flying by Grin bet you don't feel it is Grin

Tayto hope you enjoyed your hair appointment. I think our restrictions make more sense than the dramatic lifting of restrictions in uk. No option to work from home in my work.

Saturday overtime probably twice a month now, I did 5 hours this weekend, probably only worth about €20 to me because there's a lot of overtime in my working week anyhow

Martha jealousy perhaps it's hard when your bestie has a new partner in their lives

That was the lovely woman in London with two children who liked knitting

Love baffling isn't it?

Em I've got a ganglion cyst on my right wrist from resting my wrist on desk while using mouse, must get new mouse pad with gel panel.

I tend to buy nothing for ages & then splurge, have new make up shelf, can't call it a dressing table, it deserves new make up mine spilled & broke in the move, plus didn't need make up during lock down so it's old and wrecked and would ruin my new dresser table

ememem84 · 13/07/2021 06:46

Emailed work yesterday and asked them to reimburse me for my wfh spends. They’ve agreed. So that’s £50 or so back to me on payday.

Back to the office today. Wahooooo!!!

Lovemaltesers · 13/07/2021 10:05

meadow mine was 31 hours test to result

Family members were 14 hours test to result

Reports from the people I pinged at work though is results will take longer as there have so many being tested recently.

I’m an unashamed dressing gown shuffler today as was really unwell overnight. Slept most of yesterday day time but more felt the need to shut eyes and lie down rather than feeling ill. Really weird.

ememem84 · 13/07/2021 18:34

£43 nails. New place. But better manicure. I think. They have guaranteed me they’ll last 3 weeks without lifting. So we shall see. If after 3 weeks they are lifting and haven’t been picked off apparently they’ll re-set them for free.

Wolfcub · 13/07/2021 18:52

I'm really behind with the thread. Puppy is keepin g me busy!!! Hmmhe's also keeping me skint, spending a fortune on him. I seem to remember Girlie saying the same when she got her pup

Love sorry to hear you are feeling rotten with it, I'd hoped you might have escaped with mild symptoms

Agree re small things adding up on spending and feast or famine

Sing sorry you didn't get the job but well done on getting through the interview, fantastic experience for next time

Life does this mean the move is on? I hope the stress eases

Happier well done on the account credit

Meadow finger crossed dd is negative

HumbugWhale · 13/07/2021 20:09

Oops! Fell off the thread. Will read back in a minute.

I just had that sinking feeling I get when I realise I have to think of what to give the kids for lunch every day for the school holidays and how much more food shopping we will need. I can just about manage to think of dinner, lunch as well is too much for my tired brain!
Also need to plan some actual things to do in the holidays so we are not all just at home annoying dh while he tries to work.
I have been super organised and bought all the uniform for next term. Will leave shoes u till nearer the time. Dread to think how much 3 x school shoes will cost.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/07/2021 21:45

Yes wolf. I proposed a date of 6 august

northender · 14/07/2021 06:52

humbug I'm struggling to keep on the thread too.
love make sure you get plenty of rest
Yay to the house plan life everything crossed for you
Doing okay here but think menopause has def hit and is making everything harder to deal with. Nothing stays in my brain for long now so writing things down is needed more than ever!
Took dd for breakfast on Monday after the gym £20. Then was frugal and made a couple more jars of strawberry jam with fruit from the garden. Love this time of year for all the soft fruit & preserving
Very busy day booked in at work then cricket training tonight.
Have a good day everyone

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2021 10:20

And bubble goes pop!

Lovemaltesers · 14/07/2021 10:27

Oh no life

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2021 11:01

Couldn’t make this shit up

SingToTheSky · 14/07/2021 11:25

Indeed! So frustrating. We have DH and DD1 isolating here too due to a contact

Just finished my volunteering with my first client (we do six sessions) - great experience 🥰

SingToTheSky · 14/07/2021 11:25

Hope you all stay well 💐

MeadowHay · 14/07/2021 11:28

DD's test result has not long come back - negative. Phew. DH is mildly peeved because he is enjoying WFH Grin. She's pretty poorly though, I dunno if she will be well enough for nursery tomorrow. Hoping DM will have her if not because whilst I've got loads of holiday to use, I'm really behind at work as we are so understaffed and I feel for my poor lovely manager who is struggling atm with our team all being so behind so I would rather work tomorrow if possible. Have had to prioritise DH's work because I have tons of holiday to take and he doesn't.

Probably be an NSD today. We did an overdue gas & electric comparison last night and are basically on the cheapest option already anyway so felt a bit of a waste of time but ah well.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2021 11:46

Great news about the session sing

And the -ve test

Mrsmadevans · 14/07/2021 12:39

ememem84 · 14/07/2021 14:34

£34 waxing. I went brave and went for a brazillian. Fuck me. It hurt.

£16 cupcakes for the office for afternoon tea - were being sent home again to wfh due to covid cases. Predicting an extra 500 per day soon here.

£24 baking shop for tools and colours for dds birthday cake. Want to practice frosting.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2021 16:11

Ouch!
