If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

@ememem84

unescorted I’d go freezer diving. And then turn phones off.
Unescorted I'm with em on this. Thank you so much for that compliment, getting dog last year was another life choice I felt was big too.
ememem84 · 06/07/2021 11:24

@Mrsmadevans

Happier that is absolutely wonderful 👏👍 have everything crossed for you 😀 I can see the pull to the area, honestly it's breathtaking 🤗 Unescorted will they find out. If no Chance then freezer dive defo. Hope DD and you are feeling ok take care 💐 Em still no test? Goodness me 🤯 Life thank you for the heads up 🤗 Off to MumBobs have a great day everyone 😊
test on wednesday evening. day 0. then i have to have a day 5 and a day 10.

i'm not allowed back in the office until after i've had my day 10 results. which could be the 21st July. results are taking up to 48 hours to come back currently.

out of all of this, work are the only ones who have been able to give me clarity on the situation. they told me i was the direct contact6 (which i knew anyway) they told me to stay home (agree), they told me to stay home until day 10 test results are through. easy.

i can wfh so no issues with this. other than having to wfh with dh around....

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2021 13:12

Em it all seem like a bit much to me but I suppose l don't really have a clue about it and looking at a lot of the comments on the Kate thread neither do a lot of ppl Hmm

Unescorted · 06/07/2021 14:03

And I am now allowed out because I have had a double stabby jabby. It is bonkers.

Freezer mined..... curry for tonight (uncertain type). I need to improve my labelling technique.

Definitely freezer dive and phones off I thought of returning and reorder but the faff and petrol cost negates it. Never mind

makes no sense really does it. in my mind its either a deadly virus, or its not. i'm erring on the not side.

initially there was a lot of fear, because it was new. however i think (personally) that we need to learn to live with it. i say this as someone with no underlying health conditions etc. appreciate others may be less joined up with my way of thinking.

mrs the restrictions here are baffling if i'm honest. as a single jabbed person i don't have to isolate - only if i test positive.

(if i do test positive on Wednesday, i can legit get myself signed off work and can sit for my 10 days and watch netflix - part of me wants to be positive but asymptomatic - is that bad?)

i can't rebook my second stabby tabby until i've had all my tests. which is annoying. but hey ho thems the rules.

the phrase which is overwhelmingly common on local facebook pages at present tis that our government is going for wealth over health. there is concern that by essentially lifting the restrictions the virus is going to run riot (over 500 cases here now) but at some point we will have to live with it.

Bornlazy · 06/07/2021 17:51

I hope you and dd are ok unescorted and if you get it it’s a very mild dose 💐

em I don’t understand your work procedure. Your day 10 is 10 days after exposure not your first test unless of course your test is positive. The incubation period is up to 10 days so testing and working from home after that point makes no sense. Or am I missing something?

Covid is definitely everywhere at the moment. I am hoping there is some reliable science behind this let’s let it run free approach we seem to be taking.

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2021 17:54

Well Em if anyone deserves to be positive, have no symptoms and have earned it to watch Netflix for 10 days then it's you lovely , you work so hard Flowers
Quite how it has escalated to 500 there is gobsmacking . This Delta varient is terrible Shock

Wolfcub · 06/07/2021 17:57

Ds's school bubble has burst. Ffs. Not what I needed to be honest I've just managed to get out from under some real shit at work with the prospect of actually being able to do some of the stuff I need to. Want to send him to his dad's but waiting for exes close contact to have a pcr test so need to wait for results of that. Double ffs

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2021 18:00

Wolf l am so sorry lovely , hope it all gets sorted for you asap Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2021 18:22

Ah Wolf that’s a shame. Hope the ex can help.

marthasmum · 06/07/2021 19:41

wolf you must be cursing. Work and kids at home is so hard.
em your work situation sounds very annoying - and not very logical to me - but then our government can’t often be accused of logic 😂
Thanks for the hot M&S discount tip, I was wondering if they were doing that this year. Agree life I’d be tempted to return and buy again.
After all my financial shuffles it’s looking like I can finish this month just in credit, hurray!
I mentioned the company shop to my students today (as they are all NHD) and there were several fans, I’m obviously not the only saddo who likes to hang out at discount food shops
Also had to do a presentation /big report for my PhD today and got the nod that I’ve passed this stage which is good. 2.5 more years of hard work to come though Grin

Unescorted · 06/07/2021 23:42

Congratulations Martha that is no small thing.

If I’m honest born me neither. I think it’s partly fear. But these are the rules they’ve set for others so just have to follow them.

mrs how has it escalated to 500? Big corporate gatherings (British lions dinner 500+ people in attendance), lions training sessions (1200 people in attendance at a time) restrictions bejng lifted. Etc

It’s gone up because the gov have said that we don’t have to isolate if a direct contact. So I think herd immunity if the goal here now. Admittedly this is only since Sunday. But it’s jumped up about 80 a day since then.

There’s testing at airport so if people come in test positive but have a delay on their results back and in the meantime go out and about it’s going to spread.

“Only” 3 in hospital though. And only one because of covid. The other two were there already for other things.

martha amazing. Good work

Wolfcub · 07/07/2021 07:07

Fksake for some reason ds has decided to get up at 7 so my planned 1.5 hours of battering my inbox whilst teen and pup nap are now doomed. I bloody hate this I need my space

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/07/2021 07:49

Great going Martha
I’m not going to return the stuff too much hassle

northender · 07/07/2021 08:08

Oh wolf that's really rough
Born absolutely it seems to be everywhere. The govt could've done things so differently re mask wearing etc. This is going to be so divisive and I think there are some seriously scary hidden agendas playing out. BJ called the NHS an emergency service just a couple of days ago, clearly how he envisages it once all the other work is hived off to his cronies.
Martha great frugal work!

marthasmum · 07/07/2021 08:22

Why thank you 😊
wolf I really feel for you. There is something about having work pressure whilst simultaneously trying to parent that makes you feel quite desperate. There just aren’t enough hours in the day or space in your head.
Just looking at COVID news. My family,DSis’s family and Dparents usually all have a week away together. We had to cancel last year and were all really hoping it would work this year. I’ve got a sinking feeling though. We’re going to Wales mid August and at the moment three households aren’t allowed to mix indoors. Plus, after none of us getting it despite being in the germy north, wouldn’t it be Sod’s law if one of us did now cases are rising again…

Bornlazy · 07/07/2021 08:33

em on balance, I think I’d rather they were over cautious than totally gung-ho, so unless it’s a terrible inconvenience to you, it’s probably (lunch breaks in the garden and catface for company) better.

Martha well done you 👏

north it astounds me how we are all willing to chop and change to follow the government’s seemingly random advice. I know not everyone follows the rules but I bet they are totally amazed that at this stage so many people still do. I just hope it doesn’t give them the confidence to sneak lots of other dodgy plans in whilst we are busy being distracted and nice and compliant.

£££ spent over last few days buying birthday presents. So many birthdays 😬 I also have 2 fiftieth coming up that I wouldn’t normally buy a present for but will for special birthdays. July is a right off for me. August will need to be better.

ememem84 · 07/07/2021 10:47

born yep. Currently on a training seminar with catface on my lap.

Have done 7 seminars this week. As can work and have them on in the background.

Interestingly I don’t think Guernsey are testing arrivals at airport. This is where a lot of our positive cases have come from.

Our gov said in their press conference the other day they expect cases to increase. And are happy with this risk. Because 68% of our pop are vaccinated.

Seems as if this is the quest here too now Em l do hope this doesn't come back to bite us Hmm Shock

Evening all. Sorry about ds Wolf. Bubbles bursting left right and centre at the moment.
I am started to feel completely drained by this term. 2 weeks to go!
