If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

That’s annoying about missing the second jab
Does anywhere do walk in you can pop to today?

Great news sing. Let us know if you need help prepping.

£8 Amazon yesterday bloody Christmas thread. Need to buy some July birthday presents too.

ememem84 · 02/07/2021 07:11

Nope. We only have the one vaccination centre. No walk ins.

I chose not to go yesterday it’s a 40 minute thing once inside. And there are people. So as colleague is positive and symptomatic I decided best not to go and potentially have a zillion direct contacts. I can reschedule though. It just baffles me that I’m allowed out and about until I’m officially told.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/07/2021 08:38

That does seem bomkwrs

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/07/2021 08:38

Bonkers

Bornlazy · 02/07/2021 08:51

em your isolation rules must be different from ours. Here your isolations starts from the date of last contact with known positive, so rarely are people told to isolate for the full 10 days as by the time they are contacted there's maybe only 6 days left. Obviously if you know you've been exposed before they contact you then you would be isolating anyway.

I love my garden right now Mrs it's so beautiful and colourful. I am fascinated by how much my plants have grown. I can see how people get addicted to gardening.

Spendy day yesterday £112 in farm foods overfilling restocking freezer and buying lots of cat food. Need a few nsd to make up for that.

Bornlazy · 02/07/2021 08:53

Well done Sing 🎉

ememem84 · 02/07/2021 09:08

born according to the website the way things should work is you get contacted and then have to isolate following last contact.
However the helpline person had no idea what she was talking about and I suspect she’s new (they had all helpline people on short term contracts and recently had a very quick recruitment drive because of sudden influx of cases). So once they contact me I’m going to say I was a contact of x last on x date. They will be able to tell this. So should be over by next Friday. I think.

But the longer they leave it the more cross I’m getting. I’d just like to know when I’m getting tested. If that makes sense.

Lovemaltesers · 02/07/2021 10:58

When DH tested positive back in November through the ONS study, he never got contacted by our test and trace. Fortunately he did all the tracing for his contacts at school and we stayed home time five days after the test was done. It still makes me cross now…

But things are much improved now with this service or I hope they are

ememem84 · 02/07/2021 11:41

I’m cleaning the house. Might as well do something. Dh and the dc have gone to the zoo I hope they bring me back a present

HumbugWhale · 02/07/2021 12:11

Fed up of isolating here too! Not me personally but this week we have been teaching online and in the classroom, often simultaneously. It is so stressful, it's like planning every lesson twice. Loads of kids are isolating.
Thank goodness it's the weekend!

ememem84 · 02/07/2021 15:46

Cleaned house and have baked a cake. Used up a bag of icing sugar and three already open pots of sprinkles.

Dh and Dd came home. Ds stayed with dparents. They’re on the beach. Dd is napping. Dh gone to coop.

Peaceful. But man I’m bored.

Mrsmadevans · 02/07/2021 20:03

Evening all Smile
Been busy , did washing load x 1 , hung out & dried, washed hair , did Mumbobs, took them both to Hairdressers , Drs for Mums prescription stockings, shopping to Tesco spent 14 , changed beds, did more washing loads x 2 , hung & dried yay! Born Mumbob have really enjoyed the garden & buying the plants bless them. I think it gives them a new lease of life tbh Smile
I know they haven't got long to go at 89 and 90 but l want them to enjoy every day & if spending a bit of money on flowers and plants makes them happy then l am only too happy for them. You can't take it with you ! I totally get the garden obsession making too Smile
Unescorted sad about Dd going back to Oxford but yay to the tax rebate Grin
Em l am sure you must be bored to death , hopefully it will end soon Flowers I am not giving up my mask for anything tbh l am afraid of getting something in case l can't look after Mumbobs Hmm

Chilling is well underway here! I had a g&t in the garden at 4.30!! Made some delicious pesto with basil, spinach, lemon and garlic and had it with pasta and roasted tomatoes and courgettes for dinner. Now watching the footie.

ememem84 · 02/07/2021 22:11

Still no text. Still waiting. Maybe tomorrow.

Taytocrisps · 03/07/2021 11:37

em sorry to hear you have to isolate and so soon after your DH being a close contact. Do you have Netflix? I would highly recommend 'Sophie: A Murder in West Cork'. I usually steer clear of true crime stuff because it's not really my thing and I find the obsession with murder cases a bit distasteful. But this was a very high profile case in Ireland and still features in the news from time to time.

I'm just grabbing a quick 15 minutes on MN before I go clean the house. Or at least, the downstairs of the house. Tomorrow I'm doing my bedroom and the en-suite.

We've had a fabulous week here with lots of glorious sunshine but it's due to break today - I think we'll have heavy rain this evening.

DD is off to a friend's house for a birthday party later. Her friend is turning 18 so there will be alcohol at it. I'm a little apprehensive about it but DD is a sensible kid and I know the parents well. I've bought her two drinks and she's to stop after that - no shots, no mixers, no taking drinks from anyone else etc. The parents will be there and will be keeping a close eye on things.

Happierwithouthim · 03/07/2021 12:30

Tayto I haven't watched that documentary yet but it's a case I still watched avidly for developments. Read an interview each from both Ian Bailey and his ex partner recently.

€4.20 on a snickers crisp bar & two litres of milk for my nans house.

ememem84 · 03/07/2021 12:34

Yes tayto I’ve added that to my list!!! I saw it yesterday and thought it looked interesting!

Taytocrisps · 03/07/2021 13:09

I'm still here Blush. Got distracted by looking up websites/pictures of garden makeovers. I wonder how much a garden makeover costs? I'd like a pergola and a paved area and fake grass and raised beds and outdoor lighting etc. Can't afford it atm and it's not top of my list of priorities. But I'm thinking of setting up a long term savings account for it.

My solicitor got back to me yesterday, so she has sent the separation agreement to Ex's solicitor, to be signed. Fingers crossed......

Wolfcub · 03/07/2021 18:43

Em how are you doing?

Tayto fingers crossed for ex signing the docs. Hope dd has a fab night. I think it's important to give teens alcohol in controlled circumstances because it discourages secret booze binges if they know you will supply. Certainly worked for me as a kid. I still bought/drank alcohol out with mates in the park but there was no need to go mad as it was available for me at home and in the pub with my dad

ememem84 · 03/07/2021 19:53

wolf

Frustrated
Annoyed
Pissed off
Fucking bored out of my mind

Dh and the kids have been to the woods today hunting wild things and have been to the beach. I’ve cleaned the porch have found a few things to charity shop. I’ve watched a bit of Netflix.

But so bored

Gov have released a thing on Facebook saying there are significant delays with testing, and contact tracing. No shit. Apparently not for inbound travellers though. They’re getting their results within 8 hours.

A friend went to the test centre today. There was no queue. She asked for a test. But they said no. Because they didn’t have an appointment.

Unescorted · 03/07/2021 20:34

DD & I are isolating. Her Dboyf tested positive. It is quite blissful - no running around after everyone. I have been painting while she is drawing. We are currently watching the match & drinking wine.

wolf we were similar re alcohol.

Bornlazy · 03/07/2021 21:01

My nephew has tested positive so his whole family are isolating. I’m off on holiday at the moment but in a normal working week I would welcome the opportunity to isolate 🙈 I think it must be psychological as my family are like caged animals even though under normal circumstances they might not be doing much anyway.

I’m spending a lot of money at the moment. Lots of things need replacing in our caravan but also saving money by not having to pay for accommodation. Still 💸💸💸

ememem84 · 04/07/2021 07:20

Day 4. Still no text to officially isolate or to give me a test date. I’m meant to have a day 0 test a day 5 and a day 10. There’s been a system error read massive government fuck up

I’m so over this. Only 4h and 10 minutes until I call them because the 72 hours is up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/07/2021 07:51

Urgh how shit em
