If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Just to prove I'm still alive & well...
Midway through Devon trip, good time so far, lovely to catch up with dh's family. Very spendy but worth it & budgeted for. Will catch up properly soon.

Wolfcub · 29/06/2021 07:22

That looks lush Em
Humbug I agree re lists and a notepad by the bed. Also a rain sounds recording can help as you're going to sleep to stop the brain listing all the things to worry about

The house is mine. Old joint mortgage is shut. New mortgage started. Need to completely redo all budgets to account for increased mortgage payments and dog costs.

Have a lovely day lovely people

Did you get rid of all his stuff? wolf last time I was on you were pricing it, happy single ownership day Smile

Yesterday was a NSD
Today 60c parking, €10.80 at hardware store, €4 in Penneys on sunglasses & socks, someone stood on my sunglasses(not sure if was me, my own children or visiting children!) I just got basic ones for the car & some trainer liners as my socks need changing and I don't know where my own are!! Everything's in the shed until tomorrow evening after cleaners come €14.12 in SuperValu instead of buying a sandwich I bought the ingredients, later I'll spend €136 on 8 days boarding and grooming at kennels.

That food looks lush em and dd very cute, the length of her hair Shock

North enjoy hols

Em I'm in line for a rep at works old laptop, delighted because don't want to invest until dd is in secondary school

Taytocrisps · 29/06/2021 18:42

I've had a lot of medical expenses this week.

Yesterday I spent €55 on a physio appointment

Today I took DD to the GP (€55 for visit and €38.30 for prescription charges). This is one of those occasions when I've very glad I only have one child.

I can claim some of the medical expenses back at the start of the new tax year.

Other spends today were €4.02 in supermarket and €2.92 in butcher's. It's a glorious day here so I may well buy some ice creams later.

I'm feeding a friend's dog atm while they're on holidays. I called up yesterday evening to discover their alarm was going off. Their disgruntled neighbour informed me that the alarm had been going off all day and asked me if I could turn it off. I got into the house, turned off the alarm and set about feeding the dog and watering the plants. I decided to divide and conquer the tasks, so I got DD to feed the dog while I looked around for the watering can. The dog left the utility room (where she was being fed), wandered into the kitchen and ventured into the hall where she discovered the front door was open! With all the commotion of the alarm going off and the intervention from the neighbour, I never closed the front door when I went into the house Blush. Anyway, DDog wandered out onto the street. Luckily they live in a cul de sac, but she headed for the main road with DD in hot pursuit. Thankfully, DD managed to get her on the lead and we got her safely back inside. It's a blessing I brought DD with me 'cos she's much faster than me. I was having visions of telling my friends that their dog got run over on the very first night of their holiday. Memo to self: close front door behind me! I've decided I'll stick with the day job instead of setting up as a petsitter.

Wolf still no news about the separation. I have one final query about the draft agreement but I'm waiting for my solicitor to get back to me with a response. Meanwhile, my mortgage approval runs out mid-July......... And yes, I have tried ringing her.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2021 20:05

Sounds eventful tayto.

northender · 30/06/2021 00:02

Fabulous news wolf and happier

Gensola · 30/06/2021 10:20

wolf amazing news! huge congratulations, I remember the relief so well. Not too long now, happier!

em your DD is so cute!

We had such an expensive June with dental work for DH (he hadn't been to dentist since well before pandemic started as we moved house in Oct 2019 and he was slow to set up a new dentist, then obvs they were all closed) and a new passport for me which had to be via an appointment in London as the online route wasn't accepting my change of name documents, that was £147 plus train fare.

So we didn't save anything or pay extra off debt in June, but am determined this month will be better. We have a holiday booked in wales next week but its a cottage so we will be self-catering as much as possible to save £££. Lots of walking and picnicking!

ememem84 · 30/06/2021 12:56

Afternoon. Quiet from me yesterday as was struck down with a dodgy tummy. Sigh. Better bow though. Yay.

Back in work and have been out to buy lunch. Just bumped into a client who got back from the U.K. yesterday. And who I suspect should be isolating given her age (and the likelihood of her not having had both jabs yet) but was nice to see her. She’s just got engaged. The ring is huge. Beautiful and sparkly. Made me realise I need to get mine cleaned!

HumbugWhale · 01/07/2021 06:12

There seems to be a stomach bug doing the rounds Em. Pleased you are ok.
Spendy week so far paying for DC activities and I bought some lovely skin care products which is most unlike me!

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/07/2021 06:49

£63 Sainsbury’s went in for fruit came out with socks and pants too

ememem84 · 01/07/2021 08:15

Oh fuck off!!! (To no one in particular just the situation)

I’m isolating now as colleague has tested positive and is symptomatic. Ffs.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/07/2021 08:59

Swear away em. Love a good swear I do

ememem84 · 01/07/2021 09:29

10 days. And I’m waiting for the contact tracing team to contact me. Work have passed on all of our details. Another colleague is kicking off on the office whatssap because he wasn’t within 2m for 15mins or more of the positive colleague. (I was he sits next to me 😭) work have told kick off colleague that he should isolate but if he wants to risk the £10k fine that’s his choice.

Bornlazy · 01/07/2021 17:23

Oh no em that's grim. Will you need to stay in the bedroom? It seems to be everywhere right now 😨

I've been buying quite a lot of plants. Nothing too expensive, just ones to brighten up the garden. I'm trying to buy perennials in the hope that they come back next year.

ememem84 · 01/07/2021 19:37

Not at the moment. I called the helpline and they said until the contact tracing team get in touch (which could take 72 hours) I’m free to go about my business.

Dh is going to sleep in with one of the kids. He’s taken tomorrow and Monday off work. I’m not going out but for the moment until I’m told otherwise I’m hanging out with everyone in yhe house.

Apparently though I’ll get a text within 72 hours. And then someone will call (again within 72 hours) to let me know what I need to do.

I called the unhelpline earlier who told me that my isolation only starts when I get the call and then it’s for 10 days….so worst case (because I love catastrophasising) it’ll be Sunday before I get the text and then Wednesday before the call. So I could be isolating for most of July….

I’m guessing though more realistically I’ll get notified tomorrow.

ememem84 · 01/07/2021 19:40

In the meantime. Gin.

I whatssaped the 4 directors at work and said as I’m the only one isolating now as I’m the only official direct contact they need to send gin. Hopefully they oblige.

I’ve also missed my second vaccine appointment because of this nonsense. And if I’d been double jabbed I’d only have to isolate until negative test one.

Wolfcub · 01/07/2021 20:23

How annoying Em. Definitely drink the gin

SingToTheSky · 01/07/2021 20:46

Aah. I think I mentioned weeks back about some vacancies with the charity I volunteer for. Just got an email inviting me for an interview! Yay! Also aaaaaargh scary 🤣

Wolfcub · 01/07/2021 20:50

Sing that's fantastic. Congratulations and good luck

Mrsmadevans · 01/07/2021 21:54

Sing that's is wonderful news 👏 good luck !
Em that's bloody bad luck it seems Covid is everywhere!
I am certainly not going to ditch my mask when it's not compulsory.
Born my Mum has bought loads of plants too, only cheap ones from B&M but she is otm with them. They really look beautiful in the garden 😃
NSD for me today yay!

Unescorted · 01/07/2021 22:13

Sing that is amazing news.

em that sucks - unless you get the emergency gin. In which case isolate in the room that leads to the garden.....

Tayto do you get health insurance?

I have lost my dd - back to Oxf to be with her boyf.

The tax man gave me a rebate today....

OP posts:
ememem84 · 02/07/2021 06:40

sing amazing!!!! Well done!!!!

unescorted yay tax rebate but boooo no Dd.

mrs masks well and truely ditched here. Only have to wear them in certain circumstances.

I do think this contact tracing has to end though.

Our gov are issuing stats daily now on how many cases and it’s getting ridiculous. 350 here. Which means that 119650 people don’t have it. But it’s the isolation that’s killing people. And the waiting.

I’ve still not been contacted to tell me to isolate. Obvs I’m keeping away from people today. But I was in a Pilates class on weds evening. Wednesday being my last contact with colleague. So I feel I should let the instructor know. However what’s there to tell. “ I’m a direct contact of a positive case but haven’t officially been told that and haven’t been tested yet and don’t know when it’ll happen?” Although saying that I need to cancel my class on Wednesday so might let her know why.

Rambling now.
