If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

I control all our financial stuff too. We have a joint bank account and dh has free access to our money but he doesn't tend to spend that much. Even though he earns much more than I do it's still an equal divide well mostly me,actually about 80% of the time on who gets to spend any money.

Going out for lunch today no other spends planned.

Happierwithouthim · 17/06/2021 13:56

Also paying for horse riding this week & dd didn't go due to sunburn, I had hoped she'd be able to go so only cancelled one hour before lesson so I don't mind paying.

Due to being single I don't share finances with anyone anymore but we had a joint account for joint expenses and then our own accounts looked after spends, own car expenses, insurances etc.

Today I spent £158 on tickets to Wimbledon shuffles off into the unfrugal corner . Just need a baby sitter now!

What a week! Life is just nuts at the moment. DC are hot and irritable too.

SnugglySnerd · 17/06/2021 22:02

Completely fell off the thread! I expect I have a lot to catch up on.

northender · 17/06/2021 23:53

Another crazy day at work. Evening spent cricket watching. Ds came out to bat to face the final ball with the team needing 3 to win against local rivals. He looked nervous but then confidently hit a four so they won. I was brave and watched!
Dh's leg doesn't look any better yet but he's feeling masses better.
Holding out for the weekend here

Wow!! What a treat!!!

What match?! I love wimbledon (although I will say I’ve never paid for tickets - perks of my job!)

Things are going crazy here.

From 29 June anyone travelling from a “red” area in the U.K. (all of england) has to isolate for 10 days unless fully vaccinated (then it’s only until first negative test result). Dm was thinking about heading to devon to see family. But now isn’t (again). She’s not so worried about the virus it’s the fact things are changing quickly here and there’s the threat of having to isolate for 10 days if contact traced. Sigh.

In other news. Dh has had two negative tests so far. Woop.

North well done ds he's clearly got a supercool head on his shoulders

Haircut today then numerous legal nonsenses then windows being measured. Trying to resist going an buying all of pets at home because it might stop me bringing a puppy home tomorrow

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/06/2021 07:36

Yeah to ds North. Well done
That's what being frugal is for. Enjoy Wimbledon
Don't forget the discount club wolf for pets at home. My money is on you not being able to leave him

Unescorted · 18/06/2021 07:43

North well done to your DS. That is one supercool headed lad.

em I don't blame your lot for shutting the border.

Snuggly lovely to see you.

I can't remember if I posted here or just on the OxCam one. DD has sailed through 1st year. Only another week & I get to pick her up.

SnugglySnerd · 18/06/2021 09:04

Yay! Well done North's ds and Unescorted's dd bet you can't wait for her to come home!

I read back a bit last night, lovely to see Girlie, I was wondering how you and dd were doing.

Lovemaltesers · 18/06/2021 09:23

Not sure yet em as it’s a few days in and court no 2. There were 49 thousand people ahead of me in the queue for centre court tickets on the only day we could go and I was at work so took these. You just have to join Wimbledon online and this year it’s a wait in the online queue to get tickets, rather than the normal ballot. Last time we went we were in the back row of court no 1 I think so court 2 should be much closer!

Wolfcub · 18/06/2021 14:38

Do any of you NHS/ school workers go to the Company Shop? I’ve just joined and am sadly excited about going for the first time tomorrow. I want to check it out though as I think it’s aimed at people on a low income and that’s not me - may not keep going if I feel cheeky about it

Mrsmadevans · 18/06/2021 15:55

They’ve said might release more tickets mrs, worth registering and then joining the queue when they release them. Admittedly two weeks away now so very last minute!

It’s part of the opening big events thing so you don’t have to wear a mask whilst seated. I might be the lone person wearing one as I’m a little nervous!

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/06/2021 18:18

I'm a member via dh Martha. It's lots of surplus stock so watch for short use by dates especially on fridge stuff. Obviously best before we ignore. Can be quite random and depends on what is sent as to what you get. I don't think they do a core range.
Worth it thought if you have space and don't mind randomness.

Eee getting closer wolf.

Adli and Sainsbury's today. Do I know what we are eating Sunday onwards, nope but still £££

marthasmum · 18/06/2021 18:26

Thanks life I like a bit of random in my shopping!
Just finished and really ready for it. Happy Friday everyone

Thank you Love that is very kind of you to think of me Smile Never heard of Company shop Martha enjoy! Unescorted not long now Smile Have bought Dh a box of mint Lindt 4 , some body spray 4 and a pr of navy crocs from Amazon £15 for Fathers day.
northender · 19/06/2021 07:38

Thank goodness for the weekend!!
Dd is working today, ds playing cricket today & tomorrow. Picking up ds' new car today.
Unfrugal tea out for Dh and I last night before the not very inspiring football. It was a lovely treat though & saved cooking.
As we are in the covid ridden NW we are being carpet bombed with Pfizer vaccines so yesterday Dd had her first jab. She was working & it is being used as a vacc centre so when there were doses left at the end of the day although she's younger, she got it. Hopefully ds will be able to get his second tomorrow after cricket. He'd be waiting another 4 weeks otherwise
I'm going to do some work in an attempt to finish up to date on Wednesday for my leave. May do some gardening & some planning lists for our trip away, nothing exciting planned this weekend

Taytocrisps · 19/06/2021 09:14

Morning everyone. I'm back from my holidays. We had a great time. We spent two nights near Galway city. The hotel was lovely but having to queue for restaurants (outdoor seating only) was a bit of a pain. DD and I could have eaten in the hotel restaurant but I was meeting a friend who lives there and she wouldn't be able to eat in the hotel as she's not a hotel resident. The hotel pool was open which was a bonus (it was closed at the time I booked). The water in the pool was warm which made it even nicer. DD is now old enough to use the whirlpool (it's over 16s) so she was chuffed. We played mini golf and did a bit of shopping.

After two nights there, we drove on to Connemara. Our hotel was in an incredibly scenic location, surrounded by mountains and sheep. We could have done some outdoor activities there such as kayakking or ziplining but we didn't have long enough and we'd have needed to book in advance. We visited Kylemore Abbey which has an interesting history and stopped at the village of Leenane. We'll definitely go back some time and spend longer there. It was a lonnnng drive back. Planning a quiet weekend now. When DD wakes up, I'll get her to unpack and we'll get started on the holiday washing. I'll have to think about dinner also - I could get used to choosing my dinner options from a menu and having someone bring it to me Smile.

North keep your bugs over that way please Wink

Tayto that sounds amazing.

Food this week is going to be exactly what I want to eat .... I am thinking a faux confit with puy lentils, grilled sardines with parsley and lemon on tagliatelle, baked gnocchi with stilton and broccoli, a Cesar salad, Cullen skink and a green vegetable lasagne. I am so excited - vegetables! Smoked Fish! No Mince or Beige Dinners!

I am not sure I will be able to move by the end of it.....

I'm just doing a meal plan. On Week 3 of trying to use up random things from cupboards. It's going well and has reduced the shopping bill a little.

Unescorted · 19/06/2021 10:49

I am working my way through the random bits too - it is going to be odd to buy pasta.

Has anyone else noticed a lack of lettuce / leafy greens and tomatoes (other than the salad tomatoes that have no taste) in the shops or is it just around this way. My salads are becoming a random collection of blanched vegetables and pulses.
