If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Dm has been amazing. She got up with dd this morning at 6. And when I went down they were looking at a toy shop catalogue. Dd was telling Dm what things were. 😂

Then we had tea and watched Bing.

Then ddad made pancakes.

It’s nice being looked after w bit.

In other news my whole office has been sent home. Because I was in yesterday. Just as a precaution. Oopsy.

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 12:04

Thanks mad Grin
Em oh it sounds like a super spreader event!! But good that every workplace is being so careful.

Back to posting my spends
€2 parking
€2.50 recycling bag
€57 diesel

Then later today will be horse riding & soccer but they're planned weekly spends €25 & €3 respectively

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 12:07

I'd have done A or B probably but I can see why you chose C

ememem84 · 15/06/2021 12:19

option c was the preferred choice because when dh was ill last year and we had to isolate it's honestly a miracle that we all survived. i almost had a breakdown. he was in bed isolating and me and the kids were in the house. in lockdown. not sure how i managed it honestly.

thankfully this time we don't have to isolate. otherwise it'd have been no choice but to put up with it.

just bought ddad a mystery wine box for fathers day. yay. should be delivered soon.

Lovemaltesers · 15/06/2021 12:24

C seems a good option with kind and helpful Dparents like you have em. I’d have done a unstrict version of A if I knew I hadn’t been close to the two cases. I hope your DH appreciates his break from parenting, and doesn’t dare moan!! I’m surprised they sent your workplace home too though… where I worked stayed open even though we actually had the cases here!

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 12:34

You reminded me em I must check boot for Father's Day card and if it's not there repurchase and get in the post tomorrow

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 12:36

Definitely em I'd forgotten about that

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 13:42

€150 brooks runners & ASICS 1000 mile twin pack of running socks. This was budgeted birthday money from Feb. But shops were closed and not everyone stocks them.

Happierwithouthim · 15/06/2021 14:21

€5.14 SuperValu wheat bran, porridge & winders
€11.90 Aldi 2 high protein bars(Grenade dupe) curry sauce powder(McDonnell's dupe) Father's Day card sushi & bottle of water

Bornlazy · 15/06/2021 16:50

Man em that's mental sending your work home. They do know that you're dh isn't actually positive and that you are not a contact and not isolating? Are the dc still going to nursery? We would only be counted as being exposed at work if we were within 2 metres for over 10 minutes (I think) without our masks otherwise the whole of the nhs would grind to a halt.

£25 Lidl top up shop.

They do. They’re being overly cautious.

It’s ridiculous. But. Thems the brakes.

Mrsmadevans · 15/06/2021 20:45

Born thank you re Dh , he was poorly bless him , he is a massive baby and an over subscriber to the DGOD but he was not at all well, this was definitely genuine. He is so much better nearly back to normal Smile
Em ahhh bless you sweetheart . l felt for you when you said it was nice to be looked after as well, the Mum in me responded to that because it's what all us Mums are here for, as you know being one yourself , l am sure this post will read strangely but l am moved by your plight and your words struck a chord with me , you have wonderful parents you can rely on in your hour of need & l'm so glad for you and your Dc . FWIW l think you did the right thing going home for the time being Flowers
Unescorted 'She came to dinner with us (we propped her on the table) and her friends took her to the pub on their tablets / phones'
You are such a lovely Mum Flowers
Things written here have really moved me tonight because of Em's parents and their undying support and love for her and hers for them and Unescorted's obvious love for her Dd & longing to have her home Flowers
You are all such good eggs!

marthasmum · 15/06/2021 21:44

Aw mrs that doesn’t read strangely. You sound like a lovely mum yourself! Flowers
My mum came and looked after me when I had DC2 (CS with a 2 and 4 year old) and I felt so lucky to have a mum who wanted to come and look after me, and who I wanted to have there. As opposed to DPs mum who left him with his grandparents.
I’m glad you are feeling looked after em.
We are all doing our very best in the mum department Smile

marthasmum · 15/06/2021 21:44

Oops DS2

Thank you Martha that is so kind of you to say that Flowers l think it is all we want to be really , someone our Dc can rely on Smile You are right we are all doing our very best and that is all we can ever do Smile

Indeed we've got a fabulous selection of mums on here, who in turn have a fab selection of mums themselves.
Mrs your Dh deserves his dressing gown of doom moment, campylobacter is horrible I believe. My Dh hasn't reached for the DGOD yet but justifiably could. He got a bite while gardening on Sunday and as usual, his body has massively overreacted and he has a red, hot, swollen leg & is pretty unwell. He managed to get through to the GP and has started on antibiotics.
Just 10 days until we venture down south for a week & I cannot wait! Haven't seen dh's family since August which will be good, but just looking forward to the break from work too. We have rented a house which massively reduces any potential stress and makes it a holiday for us. Starting to count down & write lists, in and out of work.
Found a car for ds at the weekend. He's happy & just waiting for it to be serviced, then he can collect it

ememem84 · 16/06/2021 05:55

mrs doesn’t read strangely at all. I’m so grateful dparents are here and will help unlike Fil who doesn’t give a crap and it is nice being looked after.

I’m up with dd. Ddad has just come down and made tea and the three of us are watching CBeebies. He’s said to go back to bed but Dd doesn’t want me to. So I’m staying put.

Yesterday was exhausting because hot and a very broken sleep. But both dc slept through last night so a 530 start I can cope with.

Dc at nursery again today. I’ll work from dparents. And might ask Dh to sit in the garden while I pop home and retrieve his Father’s Day gift and wrap it for him so it’s ready for Sunday.

Other than that. Nothing going on.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/06/2021 17:25

£60 riding leggings, £25 on lesson though DD isn't going as unwell still need to pay.

marthasmum · 16/06/2021 19:54

Some frugal wins recently which is lovely.
Bulb are refunding us £300 and have put our payments down by £100. I was a bit suspicious as our bills have been hefty for so long but they’ve assured me it’s ok and they will monitor it.
DP has negotiated some work from home time with his job which could save us up to £100 a month in his travel fares. Which is great as he is resistant to change at work and I’m really pleased he’s been proactive.
And finally while we’ve been looking into pension provision/ life ins DP has realised that despite assuring me more than once I was named on his pension as his dependent...I wasn’t 🙄. But I will be now. I read a thread on here yesterday which made me wonder if I was a bit controlling as I am in total charge of our finances. Now, not so much...DP does not have my eye for financial detail!
north I am a southerner originally...hope you have a lovely visit

Mrsmadevans · 16/06/2021 20:08

Life we always paid the riding lessons too if the Dc were poorly. Some ppl didn't but l couldn't be like that Smile
Em that is excellent you are settled in and will be fine Smile
Ahh your Dad waching Cbeebies with you two , bless him Smile
North You must be so looking forward to getting away and seeing your inlaws Smile oh your poor Dh that sounds horrible , glad he is on antibiotics , hope he will feel much better very soon, thank you re Dh he is almost back to normal & thrilled Wales won against Turkey so l know how much better he is ! Smile
13 Morrisons , on strawberries , stuffed mushrooms , apple pie pizza and salad stuff Smile

Mrsmadevans · 16/06/2021 20:10

Martha well spotted re your Dh pension, l am in complete control of our finances and Dh just does as l tell him, he likes it this way Grin
So do I , it means everything is paid off on time Smile

Unescorted · 16/06/2021 20:14

awww Mrs you are right I love her to pieces. Only 2 more weekends & I can go and collect her.

Unfrugal purchase.... impulse £1.79 for an itsy little succulent in Aldi. I may have to change my shopping habits as I was talking to it as I was wandering around the shop.

Every now and then I think that I might start riding again - I quite fancy doing some really long distance, multi day trail riding..... and then I see how much you guys pay and decide that the bike is a cheap option.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/06/2021 20:47

It's a post lockdown rule as loads of people were no showing so unless 24hr notice you are still charged. I don't mind really.
Yes it's a £££ hobby.

I control the financial stuff too. Dh is rubbish with money

marthasmum · 16/06/2021 20:51

I used to ride as a young teenager but last time I was on a horse as an adult I couldn’t believe how much I ached! It must keep you very fit. Lovely hobby though.
Yes I sometimes ask DP if he minds me being so bossy about what finances (as I’d hate it) but he too likes me to be in charge of it. I sometimes resent being the only one to have the financial worry - I’ve pointed out he avoids this and he agrees. But actually I do prefer being able to make the decisions. He is not money wise but is incredibly frugal hence why I allow him sky sports Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2021 07:22

She is very fit as they do all the yard work too. Rides most days for pleasure too.

Need to collect a decathlon order today
