If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Yes I consider we've had a good day out if the kids are filthy!

ememem84 · 05/06/2021 17:31

Chicken korma for dinner. Whilst I can make from scratch I bought paste pots. Much easier for a relatively quick but still fairly impressive dinner.

Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2021 17:41

@Unescorted

Mrs I am fine. Not even a sore arm this time.
Yay! great news Smile
Mrsmadevans · 05/06/2021 17:52

NSD for me today yay! Weather not good , bit chilly , cloudy but dry.
Hope it's better tomorrow though Smile
Chinese tonight Grin

Feral kids here too.

The thread on the Jones was interesting.

I have cycled 20 miles today and my legs want to fall off. I also did a 4hr drive to drop my dBro off so he could pick his new car up. I am wearing a fine halo.

I'm going to look that thread up. Sometimes I feel bad we haven't given our girls loads of experiences. But then I give my head a wobble, we go to parks/beaches, long walks regularly. We regularly have movie nights or just general silliness at home. Sometimes I share photos, but more often than not we have been having so much fun I forget to take photos! I had my eldest at 19, so often felt guilt as we weren't sorted in life, had no savings, neither of us have highly paid jobs so holidays abroad have never happened and big days like theme parks we did with sun codes and off peak so have been rare. (Dd1 is 12 and been to 3 theme parks in her life!)

Nsd today, collected some free bricks and logs for our bug hotel we are building.

@ememem I work in a nursery and I always apologise for the state of children usually with a chuckle! To be fair though im usually filthy too, the amount of times I've walked home with glitter, mud or paint on my face without realising 🙈

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 05/06/2021 23:16

Oh and I also agree filthy children = amazing day out! Dd2 wore a white top and pale pink leggings to the park the other day.... they were black when we got home! And dd1 when she was a toddler only ever wore tutus or big frothy dresses, but couldn't resist climbing trees, rolling down muddy hills or getting stuck into anything messy! The looks of horror i used to get when she's up a tree in expensive bridemaidesque dresses 🤣 clothes were always charity shop/car boot or hand me downs so wasn't precious about anything! Clothes are to be worn not saved for special occasions!

SnugglySnerd · 05/06/2021 23:22

nocuts it sounds like your dcs have an amazing time. Having a loving family to have fun with is much more important than where you actually take them. We do mostly outdoorsy stuff, occasional theme park, safari park etc. Those days are much harder work than the park/woods etc though and they often end up tired and grumpy!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/06/2021 07:50

I think experiences are nice but children just want to be happy and loved, sounds like yours are not. Don't be hard on yourself.

Spend the day as it's m&s meal deal for dinner. I refuse to cook today

ememem84 · 06/06/2021 08:02

Took ds and met his buddy from nursery at adventure park. They came home filthy tired and hot. Such a nice afternoon though.

Today I think we’re going to the zoo. Dh wants to go so I’m leaving him to this. He’s in charge of snacks drinks etc. Because I honestly can’t be arsed to sort it!

Need to do a food shop either today or tomorrow. And I’m back to work tomorrow. Waa.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/06/2021 13:04

£27 marks and Spencer poor stock levels so £15 Aldi. Should have just gone to aldi

SnugglySnerd · 06/06/2021 13:32

£20 last night on takeaway for dh and I. Unusually for us there were no leftovers for tonight, we must have been hungry!

Ds is being hard work today. Loud, destructive, won't listen to anyone, shouting/making silly noises over the top of everyone else's conversation. Nothing that usually works is working. The house is an absolute tip and our poor neighbours must be sick of all the noise. Is pouring with rain but I think a run about outdoors is required!

Taytocrisps · 06/06/2021 16:54

Hi everyone,

it's a bank holiday weekend here and the weather forecast is good for today and tomorrow. It's alternating between sun and cloud today but quite hot when the sun comes out.

Having a quiet weekend at home. DD went for a sleepover last night (a few of them clubbed together to buy a cheap tent and pitched it in one of the girls' back gardens). Unfortunately, DD's period arrived this morning and she had bad cramps and nausea. So I had to collect her early this morning. A pity she had to miss out on some of the fun Sad. She's been lying on the couch most of the day, feeling sorry for herself.

Starting to get excited about our holiday Monday week. I've been looking up things to do and places to visit. And making lists of things to bring. Irish holiday packing usually looks something like this:-

Raincoat
Warm hoodies
Jeans
T-shirts
Cropped trousers
Sun cream
Sun glasses

But on a positive note, I won't have to worry about luggage limits Grin.

Eating out (on holiday) is going to be a challenge. Restaurants are open for outdoor dining only, so I'm not sure to what extent restaurants will have opened back up and how many outdoor tables they can fit outside and if it's likely to be pouring rain etc. etc. But if all else fails, we can eat in the hotel restaurants. It will also be a little strange visiting a very popular tourist area and not encountering coachloads of foreign tourists. A rather unique experience.

Enjoying a bit of self-care today - washing my hair and painting my nails and shaving my legs. Glad I got all my gardening done last weekend. This weekend I've just been watering my plants and dead heading etc.

NSD today Halo.

Cute chameleon em.. has a striking resemblance to my dh.

Where has this weekend gone? Highlights a cake fail (not cooked through), amazing fish tacos, DD is self isolating because of a close contact notification.

@Unescorted haha! I was determined to find it this time. He’s hidden from me so many times! Man chameleons are wierd!

Dd loved the iguana though “dinosaur”

She’s waking early again - 5am this morning.

Managed to get her back to sleep but I couldn’t sleep again. Have out a load of washing on and am now downstairs again with dd who slept again until about 630. Now have my mixer going to make bagels. I’m wfh today so can shape and bake them at lunchtime if I get them started now. Mmm.

Mrsmadevans · 07/06/2021 08:09

NSD yesterday hoping for another one today 😀
Hope everyone is ok need to catch up here ☺️
Have a lovely day everyone 😊

Taytocrisps · 07/06/2021 08:35

Morning everyone. It's another lovely day here. I watched the first 'Avengers' movie with DD last night. It made a change from my usual 'Call the Midwife' Grin

I'm going to stick on the washing machine in a minute. Need to give the back bedroom a quick tidy today and change the bedding as my sister is staying for a few days and looking after the cats while I'm away. I have chicken wings in a Jack Daniels style sauce for dinner so I might do baked potatoes with them and maybe roast veg - peppers, mushrooms, onions etc. Hoping for a second NSD. Actually, I think I need fresh bread so maybe a LSD instead.

ememem84 · 07/06/2021 11:09

Bagels!!! I made bagels!!

AmberIsACertainty · 07/06/2021 12:14

Those look scrummy em you're making me hungry. I can imagine them filled with brie, tomato, rocket and onion chutney. Loving the zoo pics too.

Hope dentist goes ok Mrs

Tayto can I come to yours for dinner please Grin everyone's making me hungry today. Enjoy your holiday tomorrow.

Unescorted your DH is green?! That sounds serious, best call a doctor Shock

Mainly I'm doing life admin today. It was going to be a NSD but now I have to buy bagels.

Taytocrisps · 07/06/2021 12:23

I have my eye on a dress in M&S but it's €120 and I don't actually need it, so I'm holding off for the sale. If it's still available in my size in the sale, I'll buy it. If not, I'll cry it wasn't meant to be. I have an M&S voucher that my Dad gave me but I'll hold onto it for now. It would cover some of the cost.

AmberIsACertainty · 07/06/2021 18:22

Oh Tayto I know that feeling well 😂 clothes are my weakness.

SnugglySnerd · 07/06/2021 18:35

Great bagels Em.

Nsd. Have lots of work to do. Completely forgot about report writing over half term so now have 4 classes to do in 2 weeks. Oops!

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/06/2021 19:24

Nice bagels

What would be your £per wear tayto? If it's low then get it. Especially with a voucher.

£400 paying off holiday on cc
