If this goes horribly wrong it is not my fault.....

Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

Good luck wolf
Oooff that sounds tough em
Hate starting the day groggy and with a headache. Most days here but that's stress.
Lovely weather here. Aerobic in the park later.
£££ this weekend as dh getting a run around car. Also puppy tomorrow.

Taytocrisps · 29/05/2021 14:33

So, I hit the garden centre and invested in lots of a few plants. I'll plant them tomorrow. I also tackled the driveway and dug up some of the moss and weeds sprouting between the paving slabs. The bit I've done is just a tiny portion of the driveway but it's looking better already. Once I get all rid of all the weeds and moss, I'll take out the power washer and give it a good spray. It will probably take me a few weeks though. I checked my container plants from last year and most of them are coming back which is good news. They're mostly out the back garden. The ones I got today are for the front garden.
After a cloudy start, the sun came out about an hour ago and it's sooo hot. I had to come in for a bit. I'll head back out around 5 when it's cooled down a bit. Don't you love these long, bright evenings?

A good day so far except for DCat2 puking on the kitchen floor

life can't wait to see the puppy pics

Taytocrisps · 29/05/2021 14:34

Also, I've been googling egg chairs. But I haven't succumbed yet

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/05/2021 15:25

Spending day as predicted £8k on a car, £65 pet shop, £18 aldi and £15 refund, £20 Sainsbury's as invited last minute to a bbq

ememem84 · 29/05/2021 16:31

Riding £35
£3.5 ice creams at the park and £21 for me and ds at play park place. It was totally worth the money. Indoor adventure play. Outdoor adventure play. Go carts. Huge jumpy pillow. Mini golf. Farm animals. Etc etc. Super fun.

Will sign up for a membership too so we can get the most out of it.

Wolfcub · 29/05/2021 18:30

Hi Tayto, money spend on garden things is good for the soul. I know what you mean about having to come in to rest from the heat

Em that sounds like great fun

Life what car did you choose?

Dgm is not in a good way. We are all hoping for the end but she may cling on through sheer bloodymindedness

northender · 30/05/2021 07:28

We've spent quite a bit on plants over the last month but it is so worth it to then watch them grow. Need to water them today as the rain has stopped
Ds played cricket yesterday & we think has broken his finger, so trip to A&E for him this morning. Ferrying dd about today to rugby & cricket, then she is babysitting. Dh cutting hedges today.
Cancelled Greece holiday (end of June) this week as just too much uncertainty. To save our deposits we've booked 4 nights in Jersey for Dh & me in September & I'm so excited. 4 nights away without the dc, wahoo! Instead of Greece, in June we are going to Devon. We've rented a house as 4 extra adults in the pil's house is too much, so we'll have our own space & do our own trips out etc, but be able to spend lots of time with them too as we haven't seen them since August.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/05/2021 07:28

Skoda Fabia. We were looking at a van or estate but this was a great deal.

No other spends yesterday. Today is puppy day thought so need to fill the car and spend ££££

Hope dgm passes painlessly wolf.
Garden spends are indeed worth it. Mi e is very plain but I'm loath to spend. I might get some annuals for a spot of colour

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/05/2021 07:31

Sounds like a great alternative North

Oh and like a dick I got massively sunburned yesterday

Wolfcub · 30/05/2021 07:31

I had a fabia for years Life. Absolutely loved it it was a brilliant car

Yay for Jersey and Devon North and good point re watering pots. I'd better get onto that today

You could always do pots Life and then you could take them with you

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2021 07:45

North you will adore Jersey it's just so lovely. I hope you are going to meet up with our Em 👏😃😊
DH has bought so many plants l don't think he knows where to put them 🤩
Weather my Ch better here have a lovely day everyone 😊
Life hope you are ok lovely, calomine lotion is excellent for sunburn very cooling 😃💐

northender · 30/05/2021 08:34

Oops and ouch life. Skoda is a great choice, we've got an Octavia and it just goes on & on (not wanting to tempt fate!)
Hope for peace for your dgm wolf
Did anyone see the programme about children's diet & ultra processed food? I caught the end of it & have just been reading a thread on here about it. Worth a watch I think

Taytocrisps · 30/05/2021 08:57

Morning everyone. A gorgeous morning here. I'm having a quick cuppa and then I'll put some washing on and head into the garden to plant up my containers. I'm recycling two (possibly three) planters from last year. I dug out the old compost in one of them last night and I've still to do the other one. Luckily we've had lots of rain in recent weeks and the old compost was still relatively moist. The weather forecast has changed. Yesterday it was promising sunshine all day. Today it's giving rain from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sad. Oh well, better make hay and all that....... Tomorrow looks better. I'm working from home tomorrow, so I could do a bit of gardening after 5. The joys of gardening in Ireland - trying to get your entire garden done during the brief spell of good weather Smile.

life enjoy the new car. Hope all goes well with the new puppy and you enjoy lots of cuddles and puppy licks.

em the play park sounds good. We brought DD to a place like that when she was small. It was a petting zoo and had go karts and a converted fire engine which you could take a ride on - it basically brought us up a farm track, around a roundabout and back down the farm track. But the kids thought it was the best thing ever.

Wolf sorry to hear about your DGM. I hope it's not a prolonged passing.

north sorry to hear about DS's broken finger and the cancelled holiday. Glad you have some other holidays planned.

ememem84 · 30/05/2021 09:17

I am not in a good way today. Took my meds last night with a teeny tiny sip of water. Now feels like my throat is falling apart. Sigh.

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2021 09:17

Wolf l am so sorry to hear about your DGM . Bless you and her , l hope she is as comfy as possible 💐

ememem84 · 30/05/2021 11:46

Continuing my pity party. I’ve just thrown up twice. Sigh.

On the plus side I weighed myself and am 0.5kg lighter. #everycloud

Wolfcub · 30/05/2021 12:56

Em that doesn't sound good. Should you get yourself checked out

The second ambulance of the day is finally taking dgm to hospital. She has a do not read it order but the current situation is neither good nor pleasant so she needs to go

Ddog is also ill and may also be departing

Dropping ds off at his dad's then going to dparents to make them dinner. God knows why but dm got a massive joint out of the freezer even though she knew no one would want it so it will have to be cooked. So much for a bit of peace and a takeaway.

Wolfcub · 30/05/2021 12:57

That should have been readmit not read it

Taytocrisps · 30/05/2021 14:36

A very hot morning here but it clouded over about an hour ago. No rain yet. I mowed the lawn out front, dug out the old compost from two containers and planted two and a half containers. At that point I rant out of compost so I'll pick up more later. I might need a few small plants as fillers - petunias and the like. If the rain holds off, I'll finish off my planters this evening. Otherwise I'm done in the garden. I'm going to take in my clothes and have a shower.

Sorry you're feeling so ill em

AmberIsACertainty · 30/05/2021 15:38

Today isn't going well for me. Wake up late then get hit by a wave of grief from a bereavement last year. Not got much done.

Tayto gardening sounds lovely. I'm hoping to create a small siting area out the front this year.

Em sorry you're feeling ill. Vomiting is the pits. Hopefully you'll recover soon.

Wolf wishing peace to your DGM. Sorry about your Ddog too. Hope the family dinner turns out ok.

North sending vibes for DS's finger. Hope you're not kept waiting too long in hospital.

Life if there's heat and swelling aloe vera gel is good at taking those away. I had a Skoda too, it was fab.

ememem84 · 30/05/2021 15:45

Been to the chemist. Pharmacist looked at me like “duh stooopid” but was very nice about it. Have gaviscon. No acidic food or drink. Nothing pokey. Lots of tepid drinks. Ice cream etc.

She also said to get checked out if it’s not feeling better in a couple of days.

Cannot literally believe I was that stupid. But there we are.

Now at Dms. We came for lunch. Crispy chicken with garlic and lemon and salt. Crunchy potatoes. Crispy hazelnut meringue cake with acidy berries salad etc.

I told Dm what I’d done and she made me a special plate. Mashed potatoes. Squished chicken. Couscous without tomatoes. And some ice cream. She’s a gem. But today is the one day I just don’t want to eat but everything is delicious!!!!

😭

northender · 30/05/2021 16:58

Lovely of your mum Em hope you feel better quickly
Amber that is horrible when something catches you by surprise like that. Grief is s strange thing.
Wolf hope you manage to get some rest.

Did has broken his finger, so no cricket for a couple of weeks at least. He was in & out in less than 2 hours.
I've been chauffeur for DD today, she played rugby then up the motorway for cricket. Nice day for it but very hot.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/05/2021 17:32

Oh my word we are having a right day of it.
Hope dgm settles in hospital wolf and the meat Is worth the effort. And that ddog is ok too

GWS em

Ouch to broken finger.

Big hugs amber

Drove 4 hours. Spent ££££ and £25 worth of petrol after putting £50 in this morning

SnugglySnerd · 30/05/2021 18:27

Just lost a long post Sad

ememem84 · 30/05/2021 21:21

Petrol today £44.

Also we checked our dividend pay out for this year from coop (where we bought the petrol). Apparently this year so far we’ve spent £13,000 and will be given £506 dividend when it pays out. Our coop works differently to yours. However. There’s no way we’ve spent £13k! This year alone.

Wondering if someone else has been using our coop number. We have to give a share holders number before thjngs go through the toll to get dividend.
