Sorry Amber my week has been a cross between the Twilight Zone and soap opera with falling ratings at Christmas.

Today's joy looking after dDad while working. It feels like the toddler years are back (minus trying to fish fuzzy felt out of bottoms and sultanas out of noses hopefully). Thankfully they have superfast internet so I can "work".

sing go for the job for sure - there’s a lot of studies showing women often undervalue themselves and won’t go for a job unless they meet every single criterion 100% whereas men will just go for it and blag and get the role.
Any skills you have that show you could do those areas of the job, plus willingness to learn and gain experience is more than enough I think! In my last school I was Assistant Head Academic and did loads of recruiting, sifting CVs plus sat on all interview panels for new teaching staff and we often hired people who didn’t technically meet the criteria but who were the right fit and demonstrated transferable skills and potential Smile

I have just made my last ever pack up. DS is eating a school leavers meal tomorrow. Just as Aldi start stocking brown paper bags too.

That’s interesting to know gen. I certainly relate to not applying unless I’m practically over qualified! Have been reading on imposter syndrome too which is interesting, i would like to get more confident at work.

SingToTheSky · 27/05/2021 08:12

Aww unescorted the end of an era!

Thanks again all 💜 I’m feeling more confident about it now. Not even necessarily that I’d get either role - but that I actually do deserve to apply and be considered just like anyone else, that I’m not being cheeky for trying. That’s pretty huge in itself for me. :)

Martha my amazing therapist still suffers from imposter syndrome - despite being an ex NHS psychologist with doctorate etc and 25 years experience :o apparently it’s very common among psychologists?! I bet it’s far more common in women generally too.

Bornlazy · 27/05/2021 09:00

Morning everyone.

I forgot about sewing bee so that's something to look forward to tonight. I'm watching Innocent on ITV and really enjoying it I think it's better than The Pact.

Sing well done. You've achieved so much and I'm sure those around you can see that and value it even if you don't always see it yourself. Like I can talk - I definitely have imposter Syndrome and continually undervalue myself. It amazes and delights me (most of the time) that my children seem the opposite of this and believe they are every bit as good as anyone else. It must be all those podcasts they listen to.

Need to go food shopping today . Hopefully not too much as spent £40 in Aldi yesterday and £60 in M&S but that included birthday cake and sweets.

Unescorted · 27/05/2021 15:41

DD has a portfolio due tomorrow so we are putting Sewing Bee back to tomorrow...

Sing of course you have the right to put an application in. If you don't you have said No on their behalf. Let them make the decision.

I am very tired. It has been a long day. I am so ready for half term. 1 more sleep!

Wolfcub · 27/05/2021 20:43

Been to Pilates. Came straight home and opened a bottle of wine. It's been a rough week. I doubt the wine will help the blood pressure reading I need to take later

northender · 27/05/2021 23:44

Absolute treat meal out at restaurant round the corner to celebrate the end of dd's exams that aren't exams. Was a spontaneous decision & we had such a lovely evening. The restaurant was full which was great, but felt odd at the same time

Wolfcub · 28/05/2021 07:08

Sounds lovely North. Finally pay day. Paid myself first

northender · 28/05/2021 07:20

Dd's final day at school.....eek! 15 years of one or both dc being at school is over, feels very strange.
Yay to payday wolf

Bornlazy · 28/05/2021 08:06

Morning. Hoping for a nsd today. Yesterday was spendy £82 Lidl and £55 on nice takeaway from local Italian .

Mrs hope you enjoyed your takeaway and that you feel better today.

Wolf hope the wine helped and your BP was ok.

I'm in Scotland so ds2 will stay in school (hopefully) until he's almost 18. It's funny how it differs from country to country.

ememem84 · 28/05/2021 08:57

Morning. Haven’t caught up for a while. Trying to take a screen break.

sing go for it. Worst that can happen is you don’t get it. But your no less eligible. I haven’t forgotten to post the book btw!

Gym time now. Then silliness with the dc. Then pub tea after. Yay!

Mrsmadevans · 28/05/2021 09:16

Wolfcub · 28/05/2021 11:40

Sounds like a great day you've planned Em
Born your takeaway sounds nice
Mrs enjoy your time with your friend

I've just put my giant sleeping bag in the washing machine as it's been stored away for three + years. I don't think the washing machine is happy about the experience

SingToTheSky · 28/05/2021 17:55

Had the chat with the manager :) she’s got to find out something particular about one of the roles, I am welcome to apply for both but I think one would be too much travelling. She was really nice though and gave lots of advice for the cover letter etc. They’re only advertising externally if they don’t get enough internal candidates

Mrsmadevans · 28/05/2021 23:11

Wolf thank you it was lovely to see her Smile
My washing machine protests too much when l put the fleece blanket in it Grin
Sing good luck Star
Tesco 8 today Smile
Have a lovely weekend everyone Grin

Gensola · 29/05/2021 07:00

Woken up at 0531 by the neighbours dog barking - it continued to bark for 45 minutes. Not a good start to the day Angry.
I have an old friend coming to stay for the weekend which is nice, just need to get the last bits of cleaning and tidying done, DH has been brilliant and done most of it as I had leg surgery this week and am not very mobile.
We aren’t planning to eat out as we probably usually would have because I’m not confident of going out yet really so it shouldn’t be a spendy weekend.

Wolfcub · 29/05/2021 07:02

Sing that sounds really positive
Having a cuppa in bed and then I need to get up for Pilates and ds is going to do some gardening for dggm. Then I'm going to learn how to pop the lid of the camper van and put the awning up

Did some of my packing for next weekend yesterday and cleaned the house top to bottom. The washing machine seems to have survived its encounter with the sleeping bag. Really want to leave Monday free as I have two interviews to prepare for and could do with a day of peace to make some inroads into it

Have a lovely Saturday everyone

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/05/2021 07:17

Interviewing or being interviewed?
That's annoying gen. Hope the legs are healing ok. Have fun with friends
Have fun with van prep wolf.

SnugglySnerd · 29/05/2021 07:20

I have had one of those nights, been tossing and turning and just couldn't sleep. There were foxes outside at one point making a racket, dd2 came in to join me at about 4am and her brother rocked up at 5.30. Dh has just bought me a cup of tea. We have a really busy day and I am already tired and grumpy and have a headache!

ememem84 · 29/05/2021 07:38

Must take more regular screen breaks! I’ve found myself getting lost in the rabbit hole of YouTube and tiktok (which I don’t really understand anyway….)

Day yesterday was nice. Gym was hard (am feeling it now!) but really good. I go to a gym at our football stadium and my trainer had me doing the “stadium run” yesterday because she’s a meany so up and down the stadium steps I went carrying two 8kg kettlebells.

£45 garden centre on compost and pots. We’re growing sunflowers for a competition. And I repotted my orchid.

Then pub tea with dparents (dm kindly paid which was lovely). She also put both kids to bed! And ddad did story time. So lovely.

Riding today £35.

Raining though today. Ick.

Wolfcub · 29/05/2021 07:49

Life interviewing x1 next week. Interviewee x2 the week after

Snuggly that's not a great start to the day. Hope you can find some points where you can sit down and have a rest

Gen enjoy your time with your friend

Enjoy riding Em

Taytocrisps · 29/05/2021 08:28

Morning everyone.

I had a glass of wine last night and I'm feeling a bit groggy this morning. I'm such a lightweight Smile. I'm torn between hitting the garden centre or going back to bed for a bit. I need to do a bit of work in the garden this weekend. The driveway is sprouting weeds at a fierce rate and I want to mow the lawn and plant up some containers.

DD has finished up for the summer. She had exams the last three days and she was really stressed. We're both relieved that they're over.

I need to pay €70 towards the cost of the grass cutting in the communal areas of our estate - we pay a local guy to do it. I also need to pay my waste charges - I think that's around €80 for three months. It's supposed to be a lovely weekend here although it's cloudy atm.

Two weeks to my holiday. I can't wait. Work was very stressful this past week and the thought of the holiday kept me going.

Maybe a second cup of coffee will motivate me......
