Tested positive yesterday evening when I thought I was literally going to die! Had a headache and cold symptoms I couldn't shift throughout the day. Had an early night but woke up with a 40.1 degree temperature and was shivering head to toe.
Managed to dodge covid.. until now. Hearing a lot of people catching it again.
It's horrible! The worst thing is the headache!
Anyone else currently have it?
How you feeling?

My db has it. Same with the headache. He’s a few days down from you, he now has itchy skin. He’s dms carer, she’s 81 and not caught it off him 🤞🏻 Yet…

LoudingVoice · 09/07/2022 21:50

Just got over it after picking it up after dodging it all this time too, hope you feel better soon.

Takingthepmaybe · 09/07/2022 21:51

Are you triple vaxed out of interest? I haven’t had it either but i know it’s only a matter of time and am not looking forward to it.

hope you’re on the uphill now!

I am triple vaxxed thankfully, I suppose it could have been a lot worse.
The headache is the worst thing about it. I could barely open my eyes yesterday or be around light it was that painful. Seems to have eased up a bit today but I still have it come back when the paracetamol has worn off, along with the shivers. 😵

Oh no, hope you feel better soon OP Flowers I have it too, tested positive yesterday morning after avoiding it this whole time and have felt shocking since. Fatigue, shivers, badly congested, chesty cough, awful sore throat, dizzy. It's awful! I'm triple jabbed and I hate to think how much worse I'd feel if I wasn't, I already feel more poorly than I have in years. I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow and feel better!

Sudafed nose spray, cold and flu tablets and strepsils lozenges have helped somewhat, so if you're able to have any of those definitely do. At least we aren't the only ones who have avoided it all this time but have now got it!

Riverlee · 09/07/2022 22:02

It hit us all last week. First time for ds (20). And second time for dh and I. Although you could argue that it’s the first time for all of us, as i had it the week before covid, when testing wasn’t available, so it’s mine first positive test.

muttonjeffmum · 09/07/2022 22:04

Same here - managed to avoid it all this time and came down with it this week. Mine started with the shivers and heartburn. Now have the most horrendous sore throat but seem to have avoided the headache.

SirChenjins · 09/07/2022 22:05

Me too. 2.5 years of avoiding it, working closely with frontline clinical colleagues, having covid in the house three times, being in close contact with people who later tested positive - and now I have it. Feeling pretty crap but it was inevitable really.

Namechanger355 · 09/07/2022 22:13

Yep same - tested positive 10 days ago for first time ever. Had a fever shivers and some tiredness the two days (slept from 9pm to 10am) but was working at home on those days as didn’t think it was covid (though reluctantly). Needed to go into office so tested and was really shocked it was covid.

had congestion for the next few days but fever and shivers stopped - then just had fatigue for a few days after.

felt rubbish for 2-3 days but felt better every day thereafter and luckily felt almost back to normal a week after first symptoms

am pregnant so did feel a bit nervous in that sense

Mossstitch · 09/07/2022 22:15

Son has it again now, first had it March pre first lockdown, he had a bit of a cough but carried on working throughout it. Had one Vaccination which made him feel far worse than covid so didn't have anymore. Got it again now, just like a bad cold. So far I'm testing negative, i also had it March 2020 but had long version so hoping I don't get it again!

Quarantino · 09/07/2022 22:22

Never had it but fully expecting someone in the house to get it before the end of summer....

WhiteFire · 09/07/2022 22:24

First time here too, been doing the absolute rounds at work so no surprise. DH has it for the second time, I avoided it then.

He is alright, but I feel really rough, spent today and yesterday in bed, (tested positive Thursday) I'm just really exhausted.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

Vallmo47 · 09/07/2022 22:31

Second time for me, definitely milder than Delta was and it’s so nice to be able to smell and taste things throughout!! Sore throat, headache, bunged up but the worst for me is the exhaustion. I am soooooo tired all of the time. Still, triple vaxxed and coping much better than last time. Day 6 for me but still strongly positive 😢

Triple vaxxed here

WombleOfWimbledon2022 · 09/07/2022 22:40

Triple vaxxed here and had my first ever positive test today. So far I have had a scratchy throat (which has now developed into a sore throat/ear pain), an aching neck and burning sinuses. Not sure whether I should expect symptoms to progress - I only started feeling “off” this morning.
My 4 year old also tested positive for the second time - she has had a bit of a runny nose but no fever/fatigue like when she had it in January.

Karmatime · 09/07/2022 22:42

First timer here - tested positive yesterday after 2 days of feeling rubbish. Bit of a fever, very sore throat and occasional productive cough. I’m really tired and lethargic too. DP has it too. He had a terrible headache the first morning and now just had the fatigue. Neither of us have lost taste or smell yet. Tomorrow is either day 4 or 5 - any chance we might start feeling better soon?

artisanbread · 09/07/2022 22:43

I am a teacher, haven't had it yet (to my knowledge) although it's doing the rounds again in my class. I can almost guarantee that if I do get it, it will be the first day of the summer holidays.

Hope all those who are unwell feel better soon.

XenoBitch · 09/07/2022 22:44

I tested positive last weekend. First timer here too. Other than the first night when felt hot/cold and rough, it has been pretty mild for me. I just have the odd cough now. Annoyingly, my day 5 test was still a strong positive even though I felt fine.
I am not going to do any more tests as there is no point.

I hope you feel better soon.

StartupRepair · 09/07/2022 22:50

Just coming out of my first time. Still congested and coughing after 8 days.

WhiteFire · 09/07/2022 23:01

I read that loss of taste and smell has dropped right down the common symptoms. Headache, sore throat, muscle aches are much more common.

JanisMoplin · 09/07/2022 23:04

Have it for the second time. Not too bad but the fatigue is real. Triple vaxxed

Galvantula · 09/07/2022 23:11

First time for me as well. Have had 3 vaccinations.

Really bad headache, sore throat, sore face, starting to get muscle aches. Feeling alternately too hot and too cold. Coughing away.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 09/07/2022 23:13

I'm on day 15. The headache was bad for the first 4/5 days, then went away for a week, now it's back since yesterday with vengeance. It's like pressure building from a kind of ear/sinus source and my temples hurt too. My ears don't stop ringing ever. I actually felt quite nauseous with it after doing a couple of hours in the garden today.

I wonder if exerting myself makes it worse as I've done virtually nothing except admin from home for two weeks and starting the garden seems to have brought back the headache.

Paracetamol doesn't help and I can't take ibuprofen 🙁

nailsathome · 09/07/2022 23:29

It's got me for the first time too! I am so ill. I told DH earlier that I felt like a plate of jelly that someone had stamped all over

MushyPeasPrincess · 09/07/2022 23:47

Yep had it first time recently, also triple vax. Started with a headache I couldn't shift, then sinus pain, then aches all over. Long lasting fatigue, that was the worst bit.

Not much of a cough actually.
As someone else said, no change to taste or smell, doesn't seem to be common with this round of it.

Definitely worse than the "bad cold" I'd expected. Like a really exhausting flu I'd say. At least I didn't get the diarrhoea my friend had!
