Tested positive yesterday evening when I thought I was literally going to die! Had a headache and cold symptoms I couldn't shift throughout the day. Had an early night but woke up with a 40.1 degree temperature and was shivering head to toe.
Managed to dodge covid.. until now. Hearing a lot of people catching it again.
It's horrible! The worst thing is the headache!
Anyone else currently have it?
How you feeling?

I am bunged up like I have a cold but it's the headache and the shivers which are the worst for me.
I travel a lot for work and I normally drive but I decided to get the trains to Manchester earlier this week and that's where I think I've got it from as I was working from home few days prior to that.
It's like a migraine and behind the eyes with a crushing sensation, soon as paracetamol wears off it's back. It's vile.

Keeping well away from DS 16 months but I'm missing him terribly ☹️

Get well soon fellow covid infected mumsnetters Flowers

Yes my first time too. Myself and DH tested positive on Sunday. The headache was the worst, then also had the sore throat, dizzy, fatigue, body aches, temperature. Was far more poorly than I expected, being triple vaxxed, but so thankful I am. Today is the first day I've felt human all week but still testing positive. Feel better soon everyone Flowers

SugarPlumRoar · 10/07/2022 04:30

Triple vaxxed here and first time catching covid. I honestly didn't expect to be as poorly as I am, it's definitely not just a bad cold.

I'm on day 6 of symptoms and each day has been worse than the previous. Started with a scratchy throat to my chest feeling tight then the flu like symptoms started, temperature, shivers, headache, joints painful, chest feels like it's burning when I breath in and out, sinuses are painful, my nose goes between being blocked and runny, my throat feels like I've swallowed glass (I have no tonsils so would dread to know how painful it would be if I did), I have absolutely no appetite and the little I've managed to eat I've had an upset stomach and now I have a hacking cough that is horrific, I struggle to breath and bring up disgusting green mucus.

I'm absolutely exhausted but have developed insomnia so haven't managed to sleep more than 8 hours in total since my symptoms started, I'm pretty much bed bound as I'm too weak and dizzy to walk more than a few steps.

Paracetamol isn't really touching it expect to bring down my temperature a little and I can't take NSAIDs.

It's been thoroughly unpleasant with no end in sight yet

LonelyPlanetGirI · 10/07/2022 08:03

Oh no OP, so sorry it finally got you 💐 Hope you feel better soon.

I'm just getting over my sixth, it was really mild this time thank goodness. Five jabs and five previous infections obviously have given me a bit of resistance! That said my previous bout in March was by far the most unpleasant, I was really unwell (though not bad enough to need hospital thank goodness, thank you vaccinations!). I tested positive for three weeks and was pretty useless for about six.

Hopefully that's me done for a while now. Three of my infections have been this year (since late January) so it'd be pretty unfair for it to get me again anytime soon!

I thought you meant day 6 until I read on.
Are you a health care worker?
That's crazy I don't know anyone who's caught it more than twice never mind 6
😧

I was a close contact in March. I came down with a sore throat back then but never tested positive despite having the same symptoms as close contact positive.

I now finally have covid. God help anyone who says this is a mild dose. Maybe it is for some people. It's mild in the sense that one is not dying in hospital with it but fuck me sideways on this one. It's awful. I had fevers nearly 40. Body aches and pains. Headache. The loss of taste and smell. The loss of taste is the worst. You are sick and recovering and you can't even enjoy a cup of fucking tea because it tastes like warm sugary piss.

This is after vaccines and in the middle of summer too. There's something very wrong. You would expect to get sick or for vaccines not to work well on flu in winter but this. There's something not right.

The next me isn't even me literally speaking or typing. I started hitting my head and face this morning in the hope that the taste comes back so that I have a cup of tea and coffee today.
The good news is that I can take marmite. I can taste salty twangness. So that's some good news.

I was also forced back into work yesterday before the 7 day isolation. Apparently its safe with masks. So I whipped off my masks and to fuck with everyone else around me.

JanisMoplin · 10/07/2022 08:59

I tested positive on Friday and am feeling almost fine today. Had a high fever the first day but it's gone now. No other symptoms except fatigue. Sorry for those who are feeling rotten. I am really so puzzled as to why this disease affects people so differently. It's definitely mild for some people, but clearly not for others, and there seems no rhyme or reason.

anotherbrewplease · 10/07/2022 09:00

I had it 2 weeks ago for the first time (triple vaxxed) and stayed in bed for 4 days. Felt really grim with nausea/vomiting and diarrhoea if I dared to eat something. Lost 7lbs in one week.

So happy to be fully recovered now. Get well soon OP - cos it ain't a fun place to be in xx

Northlights · 10/07/2022 10:20

I have it second time round officially but third time I reckon as was severely ill around the time it started . Triple vaxxed. On day 5 I think. Just feel, like I've been hit by a bus, really achey , body hurting and the fatigue is awful . Have been quite chesty, so on Antibiotics as asthmatic . Not as bad as last time anyway but still pretty rough ! No temp thankfully. Just varies so much .
Taste off for first few days , and been off food but now absolutely starving so must be getting better ! Hope you feel better soon OP- but lots of us out here to keep you company .

kos88 · 10/07/2022 10:40

I have it for the first time too, felt ill Wednesday but neg test, then positive test on Friday. The worst think has been the sore throat was horrible Thursday and Friday but has gone now. Now just feel tired with a headache.

wishingitwasfriday · 10/07/2022 11:56

I tested positive this morning for the first time. To be honest I thought it was sunstroke from being out all day yesterday. Couldn't sleep last night as was burning up, lay with cold flannels on me and debated an ice bath at 3am as couldn't think of anything else to try.
Woke up this morning (slept for about an hour from 5am) and I ache all over, never know anything like it before. Have a runny nose and headache and tight chest (am asthmatic). Did a test as just wanted to rule covid out, and there were the two lines.
I alternate between being really hot and shivering. Can't get comfy at all. Am hoping that this is the worst it'll be!

polmnlj · 10/07/2022 12:02

I haven't had it yet. I am on moderna omicron study and I hope I got omicron specific vaccine. I have loads of thing planned in August.

slavetothekittens · 10/07/2022 12:19

Tested positive for the second time on Weds. First time was summer 2020 and that was bad, have only had one vaccine as I reacted badly and wasn't allowed another one.

Thursday was the day I felt deathly, was fit for nothing, everywhere hurt, hot, cold, cough, exhausted. Stomach was off the following day so have had liquid only for 48 hours, had some toast yesterday before I went to bed but am hungrier today.

DD caught it after me and also had a horrendous second day. She is triple vaxxed and had it mildly in summer 2020.

WombleOfWimbledon2022 · 10/07/2022 14:25

Day 2 is definitely worse than day 1 - I feel like someone has taken a hammer to my face, my stomach is churning and I’m shivering despite it being 30 degrees. Bleh.

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 10/07/2022 14:27

same here op! Worked amongst it for since the beginning and even when the DC had it in the house, I thought I was immune. Now have a horrific headache, intermittent cough and weirdly a terrible pain in my leg. Get better soon!

JellyBellyNelly · 10/07/2022 14:32

I’m ILl as well. Something that’s going through each family house. Lateral flow tests have all said not Covid but what else could it be. I’m triple vaccinated as is my son who’s vulnerable. It’s horrible.

Sorrynotsorry2 · 10/07/2022 14:32

A really bad chest

I'm positive since Monday. Its an infection that's up and down. My employer dragged me back to work last night and I was supposed to finish an hour ago but that was a lie. I am shattered. I nearly fell asleep in work about an hour ago. I pulled the mask off this morning. Fuck them and everyone else.

Lonecatwithkitten · 10/07/2022 14:58

Started with scratchy throat, itchy eyes and wet cough Thursday negative test morning and afternoon.
Cough Friday and Saturday like hayfever gets worse on day disappears overnight - negative tests.
Couldn't sleep last night coughing and restless - positive test this morning.
Can still taste, feel like I have a hangover today, blocked nose and sinuses, less coughing and it is dry today. Not hungry.
Triple backed and never had it before.
Will work from home this week.

Springblossom2022 · 10/07/2022 15:04

Was going to post this morning to say I had turned a bit of a corner and was feeling slightly better today but after an hour or so of being awake I'd gone straight back downhill again 😩 I try not to be one to moan but this really is getting me down and I'm only on day 3.

Marymary987 · 10/07/2022 15:06

I tested positive yesterday for the second time. I had Delta in October which wasn’t too bad and feel virtually fine at the minute, really hoping it doesn’t get worse. Slight headache and tickly throat so far.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 10/07/2022 15:15

Same. Tested positive for the first time earlier this week.

It was my own stupid fault. I was travelling and on the bus home, it was really hot and I took my mask off for the best part of an hour. I've been very careful up to this and always wear ffp2 mask in crowded situations.

That said, I'm not particularly ill, just irritated, as I had plans this week that I now need to change.

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 10/07/2022 15:22

Feel just really full of a bad cold/cough atm on day three but struggling with sleep as the body aches/shivering etc seem to hit me then. Taking pain relief has helped with those.

I’m not too fatigued currently and am able to make easy food/wash up/ put a wash on. Lots of tv and resting on the couch though! Eating lots of ice lollies helps my throat.

While not severe, if I’ve not taken paracetamol/ibruprofen for a few hours I defo feel like crap!

Felt so unwell a few hours ago that I did another test and it’s Positive.

Im triple vaccinated.

MerylSqueak · 10/07/2022 17:15

I'm triple vaccinated and tested positive for the first time on Monday. I've felt dreadful. Still some temperature, aching and testing positive. I'm not allowed back to work ( school) until two negative tests. I feel so guilty about missing so much work.
