Just that. Will be a bit of a boring week self isolating from the family. Would like to have some buddies along the way. Also scared what to expect as first time I’ve had it so not sure if I’ll be of the mild, medium or serious end. Have had 3 vaccines in the past but getting up to 7 months since I had the last. Am in 50s and caught it at my dads funeral from a good friend. She is feeling grotty but still working. I’ve just started a new job! Great start! And don’t think I’ll be joining many jubilee street parties unless Ultra mild. Symptoms are dry throat, a bit shivery and skin crawly when paracetamol is wearing off. High temperature between meds but a v faint line on LFT which I expect to be darker tomorrow. Still got an appetite!

My 3yr old is really struggling with me being in a mask and limiting cuddles - this is truly horrid. So tempted to just say sod it and take it off but at present my husband is still testing negative (although feeling rough) and my 3yr old is too young to have been vaccinated. So hard to know what to do for the best.

For goodness sake! This behaviour towards your child is just frankly INSANE.
Are you seriously walking about indoors with a mask on limiting a natural bond with your child????? YOUR child is STRUGGLING and you are wondering what to do for the best?????
Get out of this madness and give your child the attention they deserve!

Flev · 06/06/2022 13:27

@Samarie123 thank you so much for your compassion - that level of bitchiness was deliberately cruel and completely unwarranted. I've been trying to do my best to prevent my husband and child also getting ill. For your benefit my husband is now in bed feeling worse than me and I'm trying to cope with an over-energetic child whilst feeling I'm going to faint every time I even sit up. We were desperate to avoid this happening, as caring for a small child when you're struggling to care for yourself is horrendous. You'll no doubt be glad to hear that your words have made me feel so much worse, as that's clearly what you were aiming for. I wrongly thought this was a supportive thread I could be honest on.

LemonDrizzles · 06/06/2022 13:36

I have a 2 year old and been wearing a mask indoors. She gets her cuddles through from breastfeeding. Outside of that, I didn't kiss her or the 6 year old. This morning, I hugged my 6 year old (negative today) and we both agreed we missed it. To each their own way on handling.

Sending virtual warm wishes to all.

AvocadoPlant · 06/06/2022 17:51

Hi can I join too? First time Covid here, positive test this morning. Reckon I’m on day 3 as I felt rotten all weekend but assumed it was DHs cold that he had generously shared!
His test on Friday was -ve but has come up +ve today.
Feeling really wiped out and like there’s a lump in the back of my chest, between the covid cough and the hay fever sneezes though I guess that’s not a huge surprise.

eitak22 · 06/06/2022 18:10

Anyone got really bad dizziness with it? I'm still testing negative but feel so dizzy and when I spoke to the Dr he said it would be weird for it not to be covid as my DH has it.

CrazyRatLover · 06/06/2022 18:25

I was pretty light headed!

Flev · 06/06/2022 21:26

I'm dizzy and light-headed too

I can’t stand what this covid (lockdowns, masks etc) is doing to childrens mental health! And I would think that a child should feel relaxed in their own home as they have enough of this crap in schools. Children get distressed when they can’t make out expressions from teachers - let alone parents. And YOU yourself said your child is STRUGGLING! And I hate the thought of a 3 yr old child struggling and not getting enough affection!
Adults and children have been affected mentally by this and I find it sad really fucking SAD

eitak22 · 07/06/2022 12:57

Well I got my positive test today 2 days after first symptoms and 5 days from DH testing positive.

Lushmetender · 07/06/2022 17:36

Hope everyone is doing ok. Day 8 here and LFT is now negative woo hoo. I can go out like a normal person now! Feel like I have hay fever rather than COVID and in hindsight got off lightly. Managed to avoid the rest of the family getting it and glad the immune system has had a booster! While the virus is milder now that people have had their vaccinations the fact it can be unpredictable in certain individuals is why it causes a lot of fear. Two of my kids had it last September and they had it bad for children before they could go out vaccinations. All I can say is that we all have our own way of dealing with it and important not to judge others. I wish everyone a speedy recovery and glad the thread helped some of us/you!

Hello day two here for a first timer. Worse thing has been the sore throat which has improved this afternoon and replaced with horrid lower back pain. Can't get comfy anywhereù In my 50s, Triple jabbed (Pfizer & moderna) booster was December.

Fucketoffsox · 08/06/2022 15:24

Hello all,
day 9 for me and still testing positive, the line was much fainter and took longer too develop today, but still have cold and phlegm-y type symptoms.
On the whole I feel much better than I was but can’t quite shake it. Fingers crossed for a negative result tomorrow so I can back to my class, I am missing being with them and in school
hope everyone is feeling better too

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 08/06/2022 16:17

I’m day 7 and STILL positive and strongly so. Think work are starting to lose patience with it all but what can I do-it’s their rules that I can’t go in.

Horsemad · 08/06/2022 17:35

I've just tested positive, had symptoms on Monday evening. Feeling rough.

Benjispruce4 · 08/06/2022 22:04

I’m day 12 now and tested negative on day 9. Weirdly now getting a very sore throat and tickly cough coming back.😷

Benjispruce4 · 08/06/2022 22:06

@Fucketoffsox school staff too and was told I could be back after day 5!!! It was half term so I went on day 10 as neon day 9.

Benjispruce4 · 08/06/2022 22:07

*Negative on

Techno56 · 09/06/2022 14:12

I tested positive on Tuesday 7th after a sore throat all day on the 6th but two negative tests. We had an anniversary party for my parents on Saturday 4th and now 6 of us have it despite everyone doing a LFT beforehand and us having doors and windows open and also mostly being outside ☹️

It was their 60th anniversary, card from the queen, first time we had all been together (only 20 of us so nothing huge!) since before covid started.

My dad has it and he's 82 with dementia and I'm so worried.

I felt a bit better yesterday and managed to have a bath and was hungry, today I feel crap and dizzy again with no appetite. I've only dropped and picked my son up from the bus stop and fed the cat, otherwise been in bed. Really hope it starts to ease soon.

We are all waiting to see who gets it next ...if not from the party then from the original infected group 🙄 none of us have had it before. Waiting to see if those who have end up getting it a bit later.

I'm on day 3/4 ...any wisdom on when people started to feel less awful??

Horsemad · 09/06/2022 14:36

Hope you feel better soon, I am still feeling awful @Techno56 symptoms started Monday.
Was sick this morning too. 😟

DH & DS have no symptoms & have tested negative today.

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 10:58

Checking in, also first time and feeling anxious and nervous.
Felt incredibly tired yesterday, the day before dizzy etc.
Definitely something in my sinuses, strange taste and smell, feel better with paracetamol at the moment.
Hand holding everyone else who is a COVID virgin. So many people at work have been going down with it and vaccines are wearing off.

Had weird pain in neck and jaw.
Going to ask DH to get me Jackman Sweet's and night nurse.

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 11:07

Does anyone know what symptoms we have ? Omicron? Delta?

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 11:10

@Techno56
I hope your dad is ok.
It's so odd isn't it!
Esp as you had good ventilation and windows and doors open.

Is this a new wave? Is it because vaccines are waning or just because it's more infectious?
I am sure I have it because my last vaccine was beginning Dec and the Immunity is gone.
I wonder if they will give us top ups like flu even if have to pay?

Ithoughtsummerwascoming · 10/06/2022 11:14

@Flev
I had dd in bed with me last night,I had tested negative!
Now I'm worried about viral load!
Ignore nasty poster, viral load seems the important part.

Yes, very odd.

Interestingly anyone at our gathering who already had it before didn't catch it at the event and so far they haven't caught it from theor family members either (fingers crossed it continues!)

Feeling a bit better today, hoping this it continues.

pinkpixie83 · 10/06/2022 15:33

First day today, not had it before either.

Is everyone waiting for negative tests or for the 5 days?

So far just tired and a heavy head.
