No period since covid vaccine

whereissit · 02/01/2022 23:38

I had my first covid vaccine in August and haven't had a period since. I'm going to book a drs appointment when they reopen but I'm so worried. I know lots of women have had issues with their period but has anyone else missed so many?

Pregnancy test?

MissC07 · 02/01/2022 23:46

I had my first vaccine in May and then nothing until October (had to go to the GP and was given provera to 'force a period')

whereissit · 03/01/2022 00:01

@Yummiliscious I'll get one tomorrow but it's unlikely.

@MissC07 did you have to push for that? I'v read a lot of posts on here saying gp was really dismissive about period problems after the vaccine although they didn't not have one for months on end.

I’m the same, I had my first jab in April, second in June and no periods since.

I was planning on contacting the doctor in Jan.

MissC07 · 03/01/2022 22:35

@whereissit I was quite lucky and my gp gave me options, also ran tests for PCOS as I've only been off the pill for a year. Turns out I do have PCOS but I definitely don't think that was the reason for a 5 month delay after the vaccine!

Ballingall1 · 06/01/2022 18:35

Iam the same i had my first vaccine in May 21 then my 2nd in July and haven't had a single period since Definitely think this should be discussed more as its a strange coincidence it's happening to so many people

It's being talked about loads. Multiple studies and research is being carried out worldwide www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n2211 www.fhi.no/en/news/2021/menstrual-changes-following-covid-19-vaccination/ www.news-medical.net/amp/news/20211126/Prevalence-of-menstrual-changes-following-vaccination-against-COVID-19.aspx

Thankfully the changes seem to be transient (though of course research is ongoing) and so far it's been established there have been no cases of fertility being affected.

The Covid vaccines aren't the first vaccines to affect women's cycles. The fact that most vaccines are given pre-puberty means that these are some of the first vaccines given en masse to adult women and so the temporary menstrual changes have been more common.

Lost mine for months too

Blubells · 06/01/2022 18:51

I missed my period for a month after each jab.

2fallsfromSSA · 06/01/2022 19:05

It's worrying. My periods went haywire. But then I'm peri menopausal so that probably is a factor.

Thus is why I'm concerned about giving the vaccine to girls going through puberty. Especially girls who have not yet started their periods.

SirBale · 06/01/2022 19:32

Missed mine for 3 cycles after 2nd Pfizer but period came as normal after Moderna booster.

LethargicActress · 06/01/2022 19:38

My periods were very late after each vaccine, I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this.

This is a problem that should be talked about so much more, women deserve answers as to why their periods have messed up after having a vaccine we were told was safe and we were advised to have. If it’s not a major problem, then why aren’t they telling us that?

They can’t complain about the numbers of unvaccinated people when they ignore major issues like this.

OP, I hope you get some answers when you go the the GP.

RedWB · 06/01/2022 19:41

My vaccines induced a period each time! Literally a few days later it would turn up, sometimes on day 13/14 of my cycle

Bellsandsnow · 06/01/2022 19:59

Mine were late too. If seems to be a common side effect.

AllisoninWunderland · 06/01/2022 20:04

Mine too. I’m peri so they were a bit wonky but the vaccine has basically ended them. I’m gutted.

Not having any more vaccines. No way. Had other side effects too. Also had Covid which was very mild. So yeah, the vaccine is history for me.

Me too! I've heard this can happen too, but of course it makes it easier for some people to dismiss any possible affect on women's physiology if it happens 'both ways'.

In my case, my periods were all over the place because of being perimenopausal, but cycles tended towards the really long. After two out of three jabs AND actual Covid (which I had between doses 2 and 3) my periods came on within 3 or 4 days, and the pattern at that point had been really long cycles. However, given how disrupted my cycles are these days, there didn't seem any point in Yellow Carding it.

GlomOfNit · 06/01/2022 22:44

Sensible post, PAFMO. Smile

Woowoe · 07/01/2022 08:57

I haven't had a period since May after my 2nd jab
I'm worried sick as

But it's OK apparently it usual and is only normally a day or two late

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 07/01/2022 09:01

Report it via the yellow card system!

I'm 7 days late. 3 pregancy tests done and all negative. I had my booster on the 18th Dec. I am so worried!
