No period since covid vaccine

whereissit · 02/01/2022 23:38

I had my first covid vaccine in August and haven't had a period since. I'm going to book a drs appointment when they reopen but I'm so worried. I know lots of women have had issues with their period but has anyone else missed so many?

@Thievesoil

I think it’s hugely underreported

A number of my friends have had issues like this after their vaccine. One of my friends had a period every two weeks for three months and became anemic!

None of them have yellow carded as it’s a faff

I would worry less if it was indeed bouncing back to normal but in my friends case it’s still not right although has improved a little. Luckily she doesn’t want any more kids but what if she did? Is this not an effect on her fertility?

That's the problem. Everyone with issues need to report them on the yellow card database. I once read that it's estimated only 10% people report issues.

Ok Im 52 so def in menopause zone but I was regular since first jab in March - I then suddenly had a really short cycle of 14 days then until November. I had my booster early Dec and my periods are AWOL again. I did yellow card my experience. Im not bothered but if it had been 10 years earlier when I was trying for Ds2 (had him at 41) I would have been totally gutted.

Kjcf · 15/01/2022 16:12

Nope not had the booster yet for that reason!

Theonlyoneiknow · 15/01/2022 17:22

Another one here. Reported to GP and dismissed as peri-menopause. I Went from regular cycles - had first jab - then 3 months+ until the next one ... and so forth. I didn't have any more vaccinations after that. Reported to yellow card. Absolutely will not be giving it to my (not yet through puberty) kids.

France I think, with negative Covid tests. I think that’s pretty much it.[/quote]
Not many places at all unfortunately.. Am looking at Mexico for the very same reason. France you need to go with fully vaccinated parents.

GoldenRetrievered · 15/01/2022 17:31

It wasn't a hard decision for our household. We'll happily holiday in the UK until the ridiculous jab requirements for under 18s are dropped.

My brother and SIL went to Mexico recently. They're totally unjabbed.

GoldenRetrievered · 15/01/2022 17:31

Meant to add, my teens won't be jabbed, not a chance.

PlantWitch · 15/01/2022 17:49

I missed a period after my first AZ jab, fine after second jab. Had my booster on 18th December (was due period that week) and still waiting. Definitely not pregnant

BornOnTwelfthNight · 16/01/2022 15:07

@Blubells

*I had my first vaccine in April, second in July. Had no periods from April until September. Also periods went back to being long and heavy when previously they’d been short and light.*

Have you had a booster yet and if so, did it also affect your period?

Sorry, missed this!

No haven’t had the booster and no plans to do so.

Goawayangryman · 16/01/2022 16:36

I am very pro vaccine. However, haven't had a period since my first one last year. I suspect what has happened is that sometihing that would have happened anyway has happened at the same time as my vaccinations... I.e., I am menopausal. Just like my mum was at my age.

PinkTonic · 16/01/2022 17:48

has anyone yet come up with a credible mechanism whereby the vaccine could impact the menstrual cycle?

ollyollyoxenfree · 16/01/2022 17:58

@PinkTonic

has anyone yet come up with a credible mechanism whereby the vaccine could impact the menstrual cycle?
Menstrual changes have been reported after both mRNA and adenovirus vectored covid-19 vaccines,1 suggesting that, if there is a connection, it is likely to be a result of the immune response to vaccination rather than a specific vaccine component. Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) has also been associated with menstrual changes.9 Indeed, the menstrual cycle can be affected by immune activation in response to various stimuli, including viral infection: in one study of menstruating women, around a quarter of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 experienced menstrual disruption.

Biologically plausible mechanisms linking immune stimulation with menstrual changes include immunological influences on the hormones driving the menstrual cycle11 or effects mediated by immune cells in the lining of the uterus, which are involved in the cyclical build-up and breakdown of this tissue.12

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 16/01/2022 18:06

Robert Malone has mentioned several times that the highest concentration of the MRNA vaccine has been found in women's ovaries which he found very concerning.

I still find the dismissal of menstrual cycle changes to women after their jabs extremely concerning. My friend posted on her Instagram stories today that she has had 'very painful heavy periods after having it and how she wished she never got it'

She never once mentioned the vaccine or covid or anything like that. Only mentioned periods and her story was flagged with a covid warning at the bottom of it. How bloody creepy is that! The censorship of this is unreal!!

ollyollyoxenfree · 16/01/2022 18:11

@WineGetsMeThroughIt

The "study" you're referring to does not exist. By all means link if you think it does?

Robert Malone is not a credible nor valid source when it comes to information regarding the coronavirus vaccines or coronavirus itself.

Newbie8365 · 16/01/2022 18:34

16 days late :( still no sign of a period. I think after 14 days its called as a missed period rather than being late. Fingers crossed my next one will come. Never looked so forward to my period before!

Flyonawalk · 16/01/2022 21:27

Why is Robert Malone, part of the team which developed mRNA vaccines, considered not to have valid opinions about them?

Pixiedust49 · 16/01/2022 21:30

Since second AZ jab( in June) periods have been heavy and 6-8 weeks apart. Prior to that they were light and 4 weeks apart, as regular as clockwork. Struggle to think that’s a coincidence.

wonderwomen79 · 16/01/2022 21:57

This is really worrying.

This is why I don't want my teenage daughter to have the vaccine.

ollyollyoxenfree · 16/01/2022 22:02

@Flyonawalk

Why is Robert Malone, part of the team which developed mRNA vaccines, considered not to have valid opinions about them?
Because his opinions are blatant misinformation with no basis in reality.

The study a previous poster quoted from him does not exist. Share a link if you think it does.

I have posted before on many of the false claims Malone has made, and how they are easily disproved - feel free to do a search. These include that the vaccines "have cost more lives than they have saved".

Many many scientists have spoken out about how these actions from a scientist with a huge platform are nothing short of criminal - he is literally contributing to preventable deaths.

For example, from Prof Francois Balloux, who is very much a "COVID centrist" and tends to be incredibly pragmatic about coronavirus & misinformation:

....That said, a disgruntled scientist with a major platform spouting such blatant misinformation about vaccines will cost lives, prolong the pandemic and make people feel even more terrified and confused. This is beyond the pale.

ollyollyoxenfree · 16/01/2022 22:09

part of the team which developed mRNA vaccines

I mean, at least you're not repeating his claims that he's the "inventor of RNA and DNA vaccines" - but don't you think it's a concern that this is just one of the many false claims he makes?

He is a middle author on three papers from 1980s on RNA/DNA expression vectors. This was due to his contributions to experiments as a graduate student, on a PhD he subsequently dropped out of. He was not involved in this research in any point onwards, he did not contribute to the vaccines we are currently disussing.

There are 100s more scientists who would be more worthy of making such a claim, but none of them do, given that science is collaborative and no one person is the "inventor".

Yet none of these scientists are claiming the things he does about mRNA/DNA vaccines, despite the fact they are in a position of far more knowledge to comment?

Wallaroo21 · 16/01/2022 22:29

I’m 7 months pregnant due to the jab messing up my normally regular cycle that I carefully track. 🤪

loves2plan · 16/01/2022 22:32

I had my booster on 5/1 and currently on CD39 with absolutely no signs of a period yet. Negative pregnancy test on Friday. It is very worrying.

mrsmacmc · 16/01/2022 22:42

Booster (Pfizer) on 18/12 and on CD38. Normally 25 days in my cycle. I've had crampy pains but nothing more. Not pregnant, have yellow card reported it and calling GP this week to try and get an appointment to discuss.

Spottybotty20 · 16/01/2022 22:43

@LettertoHermoine tell your friend her mum should see a gp. They take any bleeding after menopause very seriously and something more sinister should be ruled out. Hope for the best for her of course
