I was reading the news from S.Africa this morning. Cases levelling off and no they didn’t impose any restrictions on a population that is not as vaccinated as ours. (Yes a younger population but still -no restrictions/ no lockdown)

It doesn't look like that from the case figures...

They updated case figures yesterday and included some backdated figures so it has changed from when I wrote that post. We’ll have to keep watching over the next few days. They have said that they still don’t see the need to increase their restriction levels though so that’s still a positive!

We are merrily opening borders that have been shut for ages (apart from WA) as if nothing is going on. New premier is nuts, in my state.

I’ve been thinking about that as my parents are in one of those states

From 766 cases on 12/12, it's now 1,686

I don't know how much of that is the result of more looking meaning more finding (but I wouldn't bank on that, as these are countries with well developed capabilities who will have been looking firba week or somalready)

Still saying asymptomatic/mild and no deaths so that’s something!
