This goverment controls through fear.

2bazookas · 10/11/2021 22:24

@Gardenlass

All the over 65s I know, and I'm one of them, couldn't wait to get their booster. I feel more protected, having had it recently. As far as I can see, no coercion necessary. There may be a few older people who are reluctant to have it, but I've never heard of any.
Same here; we are DELIGHTED to have had our boosters and I don't know anyone who wasn't.
MarshaBradyo · 10/11/2021 22:26

What is the take up like?

I know it’s still rolling out so maybe hard to know what eventual proportion would be

whymewhyme · 10/11/2021 22:27

Anyone who is for covid passports will one day with they weren't. Thin end of the wedge and the start of a real shit show.

TinaYouFatLard · 10/11/2021 22:29

I am honestly baffled that anyone can find justification for this.

TinaYouFatLard · 10/11/2021 22:30

And I’m glad that so many of you are delighted to get your boosters. You absolutely should be able to make that decision for yourselves if you want it.

2bazookas · 10/11/2021 22:31

@PuzzledObserver

What activities are un-boostered over 65’s going to be banned from…. night clubs?
We got our boosters so we'll be able to go clubbing in Ibiza. Just spray a bit of antibacterial stuff on the zimmer frame and I'm hot to trot.
MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 22:33

Totally agree @TinaYouFatLard With both your posts.

Couldn’t wait to get mine, went to a walk in centre as soon as the 6 months were up.

donquixotedelamancha · 10/11/2021 22:34

And IM the melodramatic one??

Yes. You've launched this silly thread in response to this comment:

Asked if making a third jab part of a Covid pass is “something that you might look at”, Mr Javid replied: “We’re not looking at that yet.

It's not happening in the UK. If Covid continues to be managable, it won't be.

What's with all these nutty threads lately, has 4chan shut?

whatwasIgoingtosay · 10/11/2021 22:35

I'm really pleased about this (and I'm over 65).

EstuaryBird · 10/11/2021 22:36

Well I’m 66, triple jabbed and am off to the Hard Rock Hell weekender tomorrow. I go to a couple of gigs a week at local Rock Club and Blues Club.

Being over 65 does not mean you sit home and sip bloody Horlicks 🤷🏻‍♀️

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 22:37

@donquixotedelamancha Over a year ago people got the same attitude when they predicted there would be vaccine passports at all

Im starting to think a lot of the anger is because people are trying to blank out the fact that they have already been proved wrong.

EngTech · 10/11/2021 22:38

Looking forward to getting the booster

The nano bots need the software updates and my 5G signal is not so good these days 😎😎😎😎

Arabelladrinkstea · 10/11/2021 22:40

Totally agree with you OP, as do lots of my loved ones who have all had the vaccine but are against this.

A group of us women were discussing how the Government seem to be doing what appears like crazy things such as the vaccine passport and wiping all of our rights - why are they doing this simultaneously?

Mythroatisstillsore · 10/11/2021 22:40

Had mine! Ready to rock. So happy to live in a country where they are accessible!

Perhaps you're a very inexperienced traveller?

I've had exotic disease vaccinations for well over half a century of world travel (with certificates to prove vaccination, required for entry to some countries) . I always keep them in my passport. No regrets and no shit show.

ilovesooty · 10/11/2021 22:46

I'm delighted to be getting mine on Friday at the community centre next to my GP's surgery.

I don't know anyone who feels 'coerced'. Having said that, the vaccine take up in my area is one of the four lowest in the country and I find that concerning.

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 22:47

@Mythroatisstillsore Or a town or city where they are accessible. You cant speak for the whole country.

OP posts:
cantkeepawayforever · 10/11/2021 22:49

I have been ‘coerced’ to work in a Covid unsafe environment- a school - from the start of June in the first wave. That coercion has been carried out partly through Government lies - of omission and commission - and manipulation of public opinion.

I am therefore extremely glad to be finally allowed to get my booster in a few weeks time. Had my profession been allowed priority for vaccinations, as many thought we should, I would have been allowed it earlier and the class and school closures through teacher infection over the last few weeks would have been reduced.

Coercion to get boosters?? No. Coercion to work unsafely because the Government can’t be bothered to fund safer schools - absolutely.

Claudethecat · 10/11/2021 22:54

Is this an attempt to resurrect the tedious State of Fear threads?

cantkeepawayforever · 10/11/2021 22:57

Sorry, I went on a schools rant but there is a more general rant. Yes, there has been coercion during this pandemic. Requiring care home workers to be vaccinated, for example. There have also been measures designed to encourage specific behaviour, especially where ‘for the public good’ is not enough in and of itself. Measures that encourage the most vulnerable groups to be maximally vaccinated are just that - encouragement to do what is anyway in the public good and in the individual’s best interests. Definitely not the most egregious example of ‘coercion’!

Yip. Still find it scary how u unquestioning people are.

I don't understand what you are talking about, OP. Are you talking about England here?

England doesn't have vaccine passports. Sajid Javid explicitly said they aren't comming in (as he has done many times). It's the very first thing he says in the interview on the link you provided. That tweet you linked to is a lie.

The only thing I can think you mean is that you can get the electronic NHS proof of vaccination if you need it for (for example) travel abroad or because a company requires it for a service. That's no different from using your paper record, it's not a vaccine passport.
