@PAFMO , that's interesting , I forget how many countries have already introduced a 'passport' scheme, travellers to those countries would need to adhere to those rules wouldn't they ?

Yes.
Each one is different of course, even within Europe. (it's why I joined the FB group- at times it's clearer than the UK gov website which sometimes lags behind when updating- plus people think they only have to follow their own country's rules- a woman got stroppy yesterday because she wouldn't have it that her one-jabbed teen wouldn't be classed as fully vaccinated for Spain but would also need to test etc)
Most countries that I'm aware of accept negative tests for places where a pass is needed. Effectively, the negative test IS the pass.

cherin · 11/11/2021 09:29

Yes but it needs to be “fresh”, and in countries like Italy it means not more than 48h old. If you’re not resident and don’t know the tricks you need to book it well in advance, or queue at specific places to get it (I spent almost 2 hours of a Sunday in Bologna to get my rapid test done, and it wasn’t for the purpose of the pass, it was to satisfy U.K. conditions to travel back). In Paris there’s kiosks peppered all over the city, and most pharmacies offer it very quickly. So it’s important not to assume that it’ll be quick or cheap everywhere, and definitely not with the same policies. And they change all the time as government re-organise strategies for this new wave…

MarshaBradyo · 11/11/2021 09:32

Not sure what will happen long term re travel

I’m not due a booster yet and also teens

frumpety · 11/11/2021 09:57

Do we have to show a NHS pass to get in anywhere in England ?

Starisnotanumber · 11/11/2021 10:14

As there is no ID card in the UK how would someone prove their age.
No bus pass available in our area Greater Manchester until 66 and not everyone has one if you don't drive or have a passport then what's the solution

amicissimma · 11/11/2021 10:16

I vounteer as a steward at vaccine centres. Nowadays it tends to be booster sessions. I stand around and chat with the people as they wait for vaccination and for their 15 minutes afterwards, or listen to their chat.

If anyone thinks they are going to coerce the over 65s into anything they've got a surprise coming!

CrunchyCarrot · 11/11/2021 11:20

I'm 65 and still unvaccinated (had Covid before vaccines were around, still have antibodies). As I am housebound am not particularly worried but all the same, think this coercion aspect is getting ridiculous and is unnecessary.

I was listening to a top US virology professor yesterday, he's 2 yrs older than me and fully vaxxed. However he said as yet he has not seen any convincing data for having booster jabs, so he's held off on having one. I find that very interesting! Predictably, someone called him an anti-vaxxer - only the name-caller was another virologist!

Just goes to show how crazy this world has become.

What's his name?
CrunchyCarrot · 11/11/2021 12:01

What's his name?

Why would I want to out him on MN? Or anywhere, for that matter?

fournonblondes · 11/11/2021 12:08

Stupid idea! As some posters said most people would have it anyway.

Out him? When presumably he was doing a public broadcast if you were listening to it?

Sorry, I presumed it was a radio or TV interview you were listening to.

However he said as yet he has not seen any convincing data for having booster jabs

Did he mean we wouldn’t see waning immunity and a rise in hospitalisation if we didn’t do boosters?

Also thinking which data he would mean, country comparisons?

Tommika · 11/11/2021 13:22

There is no coercion, there is no mandatory booster.

If there is a requirement to establish status then the same factors would apply or not:

Vaccination status - is it valid & up to date
(A booster, 3rd, 4th, 100th dose would apply as appropriate)

Test status - a recent negative LFT would be acceptable or not as appropriate

Mickarooni · 11/11/2021 13:51

Suggestions of ‘coercion’ and accusations of ‘gaslighting’ are ridiculous. I am not pro mandatory vaccination nor pro passport but I find the language sets the tone. It is set up to attack and it doesn’t really generate an actual debate or discussion.

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 14:54

@PAFMO The gaslighting is coming from posters calling us anti vaxers when we have had the vaccine.

e,g, as an example of how crazy people sound when they do this its like insisting a vegetarian/vegan is a meat eater.

@BeyondMyWits Ive heard of a lot of logistical problems like that I reiterate that i think part of the reason for the media stories like the one this thread is about is to gloss over the fact that some cant access the vaccines.

Presumably people make their judgement regarding definition of what an antivaxxer is basing it on a number of factors.

madisonbridges · 11/11/2021 15:02

The NHS/govt and my gp contacted me within a week of my 6 months since my last jab. I booked in for my booster within a week. I think the rolling out, the call ups and the hubs have been brilliantly organised. I didn't feel coerced and there was actually an opt out option you can give the NHS so they know not to bother you again. Talk about faux outrage!

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 15:05

Did you read @BeyondMyWits post @madisonbridges

madisonbridges · 11/11/2021 15:22

@MercyBooth So what? We all have personal responsibility. Get a taxi, ring the LA for local volunteers, ring round pharmicists. My mum is 86 and we took her to a pharmacist 3 miles away. Why is it the NHS or govts responsibility yo ferry everyone around?

MercyBooth · 11/11/2021 15:31

OMG We all have personal responsibility. So WTF were the bloody lockdowns then if personal responsibility is the mantra.

Chop change chop change , bait and switch bait and switch.

Didnt take long for the right wingers to revert to type.

A taxi for me to access my second vaccine is £70 round trip. To access "free" healthcare Assuming anywhere in Chelmsford has Moderna. Ive tried twice locally and been refused twice because there is a shortage of Moderna and they said they are now not allowed to mix them.
