It is rather melodramatic to use the term coercion, when referring to a sensible and life saving measure designed to protect individual and public health, OP.
Would you prefer us older citizens to be encouraged to die instead?

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 21:35

And IM the melodramatic one??

All the over 65s I know, and I'm one of them, couldn't wait to get their booster. I feel more protected, having had it recently. As far as I can see, no coercion necessary. There may be a few older people who are reluctant to have it, but I've never heard of any.

Mosky · 10/11/2021 21:39

OP you consistently post ant vax stuff.
I'll happily have a jab as often as necessary if that stops me being hospitalised again.

PickAChew · 10/11/2021 21:41

All the over 65s I know are happy to be vaccinated.

Shitzngiggles · 10/11/2021 21:41

I've had my booster. Definitely didn't feel coerced. Glad I've had it. I fear covid way more than the jab, its for the common good and I still want to be able to holiday abroad.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/11/2021 21:43

Me neither. Getting mine next week and I can't wait.

I pay no attention to fulminating conspiraloons.

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 21:45

@Mosky No i post anti vaccine passport stuff. Ive had my vaccine as my posting history shows. But then you knew that didnt you

Hey lets let @MNHQ decide.

Your move @Mosky

My posting history also shows my attempts to get the second vaccine. But then i dont have to resort to lies and obfuscation

So pleased to have had my booster, as is everyone my age (68) that I know.
I work part time in education, so it’s especially reassuring for me.

lljkk · 10/11/2021 21:57

yeah, physical autonomy be damned. Big brother Javid knows best.

i suppose patient autonomy is all about health care professionals not exerting pressure. While Governments can impose as much pressure as they like.

Userrr · 10/11/2021 21:57

I'm in my 70s and not bothering with the booster but don't go anywhere anyway that would need a vaccine passport, it will just be holidays abroad and hospitality type places which I don't use. I imagine the government thinks everyone over 65 goes to restaurants so think they can use that to get us to have our booster

MrsFezziwig · 10/11/2021 21:58

No coercion here. But thanks for your concern on my behalf.

Tilltheend99 · 10/11/2021 22:03

There are too many adverts and pop ups to fight through to read the story but presumably people who have been happy to get two vaccinations would be happy to get the booster especially if they happily get flue vaccine every year.

Lottie4 · 10/11/2021 22:04

I had mine exactly on the six month mark, as did my husband. We are both very grateful that we're in a country where we have a vaccine that'll help protect us and others, and are in a position to receive boosters.

Babdoc · 10/11/2021 22:04

Most of us over 65’s have the sense to prefer a booster immunisation to the risk of dying from Covid. Because we are not totally stupid. HTH.

Sian73 · 10/11/2021 22:05

My dad couldn’t wait to have his booster. Came down with Covid three weeks after.

I wonder whether he’ll bother again ...

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 22:07

Exactly Babdoc Most are having it. So why the need for the implied threat?

The booster was never to stop your dad getting covid
Userrr · 10/11/2021 22:09

My nearest place for a booster is on an industrial estate miles away, not the easiest to get to if you don't drive, makes it difficult for us older people

MercyBooth · 10/11/2021 22:12

@Userrr I and others have had similar problems with access. With me its Moderna shortage. I have been wondering if these news stories are to try and cover up the fact that people have been struggling to access the vaccines in some cases.

OP posts:
Fossie · 10/11/2021 22:14

If you want the booster it’s not coercion. I can’t believe how difficult people find it to understand if you don’t want the booster then it is coercion. This is a very bad and scary move which would have been laughed at a year ago as being the stuff of conspiracy theorists. We are all sleep walking into blindly accepting these restrictions on our freedoms. When they’re gone, they’re gone.

PuzzledObserver · 10/11/2021 22:17

What activities are un-boostered over 65’s going to be banned from…. night clubs?

frumpety · 10/11/2021 22:20

I guess it depends what other countries are doing ? If they are looking at making vaccination status to include a booster, then I don't see people have much choice if they choose to travel outside the UK ?
