People refusing the vaccine why do defensive?

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 21:41

I know a few people refusing the vaccine.

Whenever it comes up in conversation they her VERY argumentative, even though I haven't started any arguments and am actually quite respectful of peoples choice to not take it.

My question is, why are those not taking the vaccine getting so weird about it? If you're going to decide not to take it you should own your decisions.

Also people not taking it appear very entitled - want their cake and eat it. Still want to go nightclubs but still don't want the vaccine.

Can't have it both ways, you're also not being forced. I have no idea why people not taking the vaccine think this?

Anyway just a rant based on a recent disagreement with a family member.

Feel free to share your experience with me!

I believe there should be consequences to your choices - just like some countries have always not admitted people for not taking certain vaccinations for example. It's nothing new

Could you please list the vaccines which are mandatory to enter UK?

I keep seeing the travel vaccines being used as a justification for covid vaccine being forced on people - you either have it or you can't carry on with your life...

As far as I am aware there are very few MANDATORY vaccines to enter very few countries

CoastalWave · 24/07/2021 22:13

Hmm. Because it's not of your business to even ASK someone if they've had the vaccine or not.

I've just had a massive row with my Dad over this. He's going on and on about me not having had the vaccine - yet. I say yet, because I haven't fully decided if I will have it. I had covid back at the start of the year and so for now, I feel I have probably as much protection as someone who is vaccinated anyway. Not ONCE have I ever said to him I think he's stupid for getting it but he's said on so many occasions now that I must be stupid because haven't I seen the bbc news or read the Daily Fail etc.

Live and let live.

My question is why do people who have taken both vaccines think they're so bloody virtuous and saving the world? Vaccinated people are the ones spreading it at the minute.

MaxNormal · 24/07/2021 22:14

The second part of your post. Read it back OP. That's why people get defensive when discussing it with you.

Tittyfilarious81 · 24/07/2021 22:14
@Notthemessiah I genuinely do respect it but correct I don't understand it they're two separate things.

What I don't respect is that people think the can refuse it and not have a consequence.

In the same way that if I am more likely to transmit a deadly disease (which although you can still transmit with a vaccine it lowers the chances) - I understand some venues wont want me inside. I have no idea why someone wouldn't understand that.
@fertilitybs you can be fully vaccinated and still carry it

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:15

@CoastalWave I didn't ask them they volunteered. I also have no idea why it's an issue to ask someone.

Hardly a very large list of countries. And was easy enough to get an exemption anyway.

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:15

@Tittyfilarious81 yes I know did you read my post?

OP posts:
fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:16

@MrsBillyNoJagNoMates I didn't say the UK has mandatory vaccines but other countries do.

Cindy974 · 24/07/2021 22:17

Why do you even need to ask someone their vaccination status? Who are you to ask? This is why people are getting so wound up about it, it absolutely none of your business.

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:17

@MaxNormal read it back. Still feel the same!

But you must have read the hundreds of threads on this subject. So you know the reasons people give. You don’t accept them as good enough and want to keep going over and over it. Do you think you will change people’s minds?

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:17

@Cindy974 I NEVER asked, can you please read my posts if you're going. To comment

@fertilitybs I've read all your posts and this is the type of attitude that makes the unvaccinated defensive

Postdatedpandemic · 24/07/2021 22:18

I think one of the issues is that most adults have never had to consent to a vaccine for themselves before.

Cindy974 · 24/07/2021 22:19

You stated above you don’t see what the issue is asking someone. Because its none of your business thats why.

Ohanaa · 24/07/2021 22:19

I haven’t had it.

I just lead with because I don’t want to and that’s the end of the discussion.

I don’t ask you why you got it because I don’t care on your reasons and I don’t have to tell anyone mine.

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:20

@Cindy974 I can ask who I want to and they have the right to answer or decline.

In this example, I hadn't asked the person that's my point

Without vaccinations
Measles kills 1 in 5,000
Covid kills 1 in 650 people

Has anyone consented to any other vaccine in their adult life and then refused the Covid vaccine?

CaptSkippy · 24/07/2021 22:23

I used to work in the tourist sector and did a lot of travel. The yellow fever was mandatory for some countries and we were reimbursed for the costs of it.
We were offered the flu vaccine on the job for free. It wasn't mandatory, but if you didn't get it and got sick with the flu you had to pay for your own treatment. That seemed fair to me. Lo and behold, when he had an outbreak of a particularly nasty strain of flu one time, people suddenly lined up to get the vaccine.
You are free to make whatever choice you want in life, but every choice comes with concenquences. We teach children this, I don't understand why adults struggle with this concept.

You can ask who you want and they can respond how they want as well though.

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:24

@Ohanaa that's exactly what my post said Hmm

If you're asking about people in the UK, why does it matter what other countries do? People in the UK are not agreeing to mandatory vaccines in general, and some are not agreeing to this one. There's no conflict.

fertilitybs · 24/07/2021 22:26

Because many are entitled that's my point.

I don't believe young healthy people should risk putting something into their bodies when they don't know the long term effects? I know females that have chosen not to get it because they are worried about it affecting their fertility, I know loads of females that have had the vaccine and they are bleeding heavy or not had a period at all, it's affects people differently. You clearly haven't researched much about what you are putting into your body because you believed that it has been fully approved when in fact it has not. Maybe people who have chosen not to get it are fed up of being called stupid, when in fact we are not because we don't want to risk putting something into our bodies that is still in trials. I have had all other vaccines, I recently had my flu and whooping cough but these have been fully approved. I am choosing not to have this one for those reasons.
