What will the mask police do after the 19th

Honey12346 · 01/07/2021 20:42

They were first lockdown police but mutated into mask police when lockdown ended. But what will they mutate into now that we are getting rid of all restrictions?

I am afraid some will be left with a gap in their life

And are the poor covid marshals going to lose their jobs? Sad

They'll find something else to sharpen their pitchforks for.

Flaxmeadow · 02/07/2021 13:06

There is no such thing as 'lockdown police' or 'mask police'. It's all in peoples imaginations

Chillychangchoo · 02/07/2021 13:07

@amylou8

Spot on 🤣

TheVampiresWife · 02/07/2021 13:07

@wasthataburp

Who are these mask police people you speak of? The only place I hear of stuff like this is on MN. Not in really life! Where you you people live
I expect people are sick of me repeating this by now, but I'm mask exempt due to trigeminal neuralgia (wore one once, it triggered a terrible flare which lasted a week). In the past year I've been glared at, threatened, spat at, ostentatiously coughed over (a popular move amongst the MP, this, and endorsed by many on MN), abused, and tutted at. All in 'real life' and all despite wearing a lanyard.

The shit I and other exempt people have had on MN is equally depressing, but at least through a screen it's not as frightening as when a 6ft bloke pulls his mask down in a shop to push his face into yours and snarl that you're a disease breathed tramp. Or when you're gobbed at in a supermarket.

Only someone who's able to wear a mask would say this.

You can gaslight the many exempt people on here who have had frightening, unpleasant encounters with self appointed mask police, and say it's in our imagination, as much as you like. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

TheVampiresWife · 02/07/2021 13:14

Mask police

More mask police

Yet more mask police

...and on and on it goes. All in our imaginations, eh?

@Flaxmeadow

Flaxmeadow · 02/07/2021 13:19

Yes, it's all in your imaginations. It's a delusion and just something made up to complain and whine about

What a bizarre response. Did you read the articles I linked to?

Are you saying those who have been abused, threatened, spat at, are lying? That those living with disabilities, PTSD, neurological conditions etc are making it all up do they can have a jolly good whine? That we've simply imagined it all?

Thing is, I know you know the abuse is real because you've posted on threads where it happens.

Jocasta2018 · 02/07/2021 13:32

I will continue to wear my mask on public transport (train, bus & Tube) & in healthcare settings.
If anyone asks me to wear a mask or I am required to to wear a mask then I will wear one.
Otherwise I will not wear it!

(I've booked theatre tickets for December 2021 & the website is stating that the audience will have to wear masks - almost 6 months away!)

Flaxmeadow · 02/07/2021 13:36

No doubt there are a few idiots but thats life, they will always be there, pandemic or not. There are also idiots who have ripped peoples masks off and idiots who have freaked out in shops when asked to sanitize their hands and so on

But this does not mean there is some kind of unified police force

So are we delusional or not? Have we made up the abuse or not?

Nobody said anything about a 'unified police force', incidentally. Again, bizarre comment.

wasthataburp · 02/07/2021 13:42

@TheVampiresWife that is honestly terrible and I am really disgusted to hear that. I am exempt myself and never experienced anything like what you have described. I do not wear a lanyard though, instead I carry my NHS exemption card on my purse on the off chance anyone questions me , although that has never really happened.

I am sorry that has happened to you!

They will go on to deciding who is allowed in to their homes, questioning what vaccines they had or share that cringe Facebook post "we might be allowed to hug, but to protect my family I still prefer not to, not point throwing all our hard work away now" or some shit like that.

Because they are the least selfish people ever, greater good, protect others bla bla bla.

So are those in the news reports lying, too? Or just all the people who've posted about the abuse they've been subjected to on MN?

Is this made up?

Flaxmeadow · 02/07/2021 13:59

Irrelevant to the point I've just made, which was

@Killahangilion

Oh dear. Hmm You seriously think the restrictions are going to end?

The new Delta variants are twice as transmissible as last years Coronavirus and fully vaccinated people can still catch it, transmit it and a few will get seriously ill too.

This virus isn’t going to go away anytime soon, no matter how much tantrum-ing you do.

Oh put a sock in it. This year has been depressing as fuck already without doom merchants spreading their doom.

You said those who say they've been abused by self appointed mask police are delusional whiners. I'm just illustrating (again) that they're not.

Now as I've said to you on another thread where you're gaslighting and taking exception to everything I post - let's stop derailing this thread, shall we? Excellent Grin

Sadly it's all too common (see the video and links I posted upthread) and I'm really glad you've not been so unfortunate.

To be honest I don't think a lanyard makes much difference anyway!

canigooutyet · 02/07/2021 14:11

Looking forward to no longer standing out from other people, and will be able to go about my business in peace without idiots thinking they can get up in my face.

As other threads have already shown, they will move onto wanting to have segregation in place due to vaccine status. Oh they don't mean that those who cannot have it when they refer to the unvaxed as the walking plague. It's those other ones don't you know.

What NHS exemption card?
I remember in the beginning the was something you could download but wasn't required and not really official. And like the lanyard they could easily be abused as anyone could get one.

userxx · 02/07/2021 14:34

@Temp023

Masks do fuck all, apart from make people feel better!
I read that as "look better" !!!
changingstages · 02/07/2021 14:39

what was the point of posting this? (I mean, I know we could say that about just about anything posted on MN!). It feels so nasty and goady and I'm not sure what you achieve from it. If masks are still mandated then I'll wear one, and if not, I won't (though I might on the commute for a little while). How does that affect your life, or anyone else's?

Flaxmeadow · 02/07/2021 14:41

You said those who say they've been abused by self appointed mask police are delusional whiners. I'm just illustrating (again) that they're not

No I did NOT say this at all, I did not say anything people being abused are whiners, and I'm getting really sick of you repeatedly misquoting me

There is a quote system, you can copy and paste exactly what people have said and bold it, but for some reason you don't use it.

TheVampiresWife · 02/07/2021 14:43

Seriously, @Flaxmeadow, leave me alone. You're obsessed! Grin
