What will the mask police do after the 19th

They were first lockdown police but mutated into mask police when lockdown ended. But what will they mutate into now that we are getting rid of all restrictions?

I am afraid some will be left with a gap in their life

And are the poor covid marshals going to lose their jobs? Sad

If you mean people who cared enough about others so wore a mask to protect the vulnerable, they will probably ditch the mask, order their groceries online (provided the anti maskers haven’t already taken the delivery slots 🤬) and keep themselves isolated so as not to put their vulnerable family members at risk. What else can they do?
@PinkSparklyPussyCat
Land Pollution and climate change are two slightly different things.

However, air pollution - rise in carbon emissions has direct effect on climate change.

But that’s another debate for another forum. So I will stop here.

Almost Most people I see everyday use a reusable face cloth mainly for cost reason and environmental ( which is fantastic!) .
Oh I know that, but I presume a lot of the masks will end up at the disgusting incinerator our stupid council built!

Sadly I see a lot of people in disposable masks and I wish they were less readily available. I would only wear one as a last resort as they make my hay fever cough worse which isn't good at the moment!

loubylou1010 · 01/07/2021 21:44

I think they will spontaneously combust 🤣

Whyevencare · 01/07/2021 21:46

Covid marshals have been recently employed for another year op as per the government website .

GlomofNit · 01/07/2021 21:47

Nasty, goady post. Hmm

I'm not 'mask police', I'm just sensible and considerate. If you think we won't ever need the things again, you're deluding yourself. I'm going to continue to use mine in crowded places like busy supermarkets, and in fact a proper cotton, three layer mask worn correctly HAS been proven to reduce viral load to the wearer. If I choose to continue to use one in certain circs, that's up to me and not intended as a judgement on anyone else. I'll therefore be pretty fucked off if someone like the OP takes me to task about it.

aye this thread makes me sad

will continue to wear a mask to contribute to reduction of transmission (because I don't want more restrictions to be needed), will be pretty fucked off if people give me hassle about it

RoseRedRoseBlue · 01/07/2021 21:50

They won’t stop, and will be even more insufferable. This post proves it.

delilahbucket · 01/07/2021 21:51

They will keep harping on about how another lockdown is coming because of "insert variant name here". A bit like some of the posters around here 🙄.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/07/2021 21:52

But a lot of people, including me, aren't wearing 3 layer masks that fit properly! Any more than 2 layers and I'm struggling to breathe (mild claustrophobia) and I've yet to find one that actually fits my face properly.

I would never dream of giving anyone hassle for wearing or not wearing a mask and anyone who does is a twat. Unfortunately a lot of mask wearers have turned on those who can't wear a mask though.

I dunno, I'm having cancer treatment so yeah if that makes me a twat or insufferable for asking someone to put a bit of cloth of their face, so be it.
ahoyshipmates · 01/07/2021 21:58

They will stop talking about masks and go back to talking about Brexit again.

You mark my words. Wink

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/07/2021 21:59

@ginswinger I didn't mean it like that as I'm sure you know. I'm talking about the people giving abuse to those not wearing masks or demanding to know the reason someone is exempt. I'm not talking about people asking someone to wear a mask.

Good luck with your treatment 💐

Tealeavesandscones · 01/07/2021 22:02

Totally agree with GlomofNit. I don't know anyone in rl who deserves the title "mask police", but I do know people who are considerate towards others who are vulnerable.

Andrew Marr, who has serious health issues, recently contracted a nasty bout of Covid, despite being doubly vaccinated, which kind of proves the need for everyone to continue to be sensible, especially with the Delta variant around.

peboh · 01/07/2021 22:06

Personally I can't wait to get rid. It's been massively affecting my health, I've got a constant tickly throat and my asthma has been playing up. I will continue to wear them in certain settings (such as hospital visiting dh) however, I truly do think it's time to just crack on with life and move forward.

MushMonster · 01/07/2021 22:11

In Wales here, I wonder if Wales will follow with the lifting of restrictions.
And if they will actually get to happen, as the third wave is getting upon us.
I just gave up ages ago on wishing one way or another, as there is always last minute changes!
I would not mind to ditch the mask at work during the hot days, though. It is a pain!

RoseMartha · 01/07/2021 22:14

I hate wearing a mask but I do and I cant see them lifting the restrictions on them tbh

Dartsplayer · 01/07/2021 22:16

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss

Keeping mine too. After seeing how many people are ignoring isolation and refusing to test it makes no sense to trust others so will continue to wear it.
This ^^
PicsInRed · 01/07/2021 22:17

We'll be back to middle class people protesting climate change by stopping the working classes travelling to work on green public transport options.

Just watch, as soon as covid is over, they'll be glueing themselves to bathtubs again.

Mulhollandmagoo · 01/07/2021 22:26

@Morgan12

I'm keeping my mask. I haven't been ill since December 2019.
I hate wearing a mask with a passion, but this is actually a really good point! Not even the tiniest sniffle in our house since Feb 2020 when we all had a nasty virus (fit the covid descriptive but no such thing as testing or anything, so might have been, might not have been) not my husband, my toddler or myself

What will the people who moan about restrictions do? Go back to moaning about uncut verges? Bitching about neighours? Get back to their BNP interests? Spend some time learning to read?
Stellaris22 · 01/07/2021 22:29

I do worry about the readiness at which most people seem to think life will suddenly be normal again. Sadly it never will be, it’s not doom mongering or loving lockdowns and restrictions, just the reality of this virus. It will adapt, and maybe not be as deadly, but something we have to learn to live with. It won’t just go away.

Maybe we could have dealt with it better (closing borders, stopping international travel) but its far too late now. Public goodwill is gone and won’t be accepted.

People can glory in burning their face masks and freedom, but the reality is we will be living with mutations of this virus from now on.

TheVampiresWife · 01/07/2021 22:48

Hopefully they'll stop glaring judgily, spitting and shouting abuse at mask exempt people. I'm not optimistic however.

ginswinger · 01/07/2021 23:51

@PinkSparklyPussyCat thank you, it's looking optimistic

SoSadAboutMyDad · 02/07/2021 00:37

All these stupid antimaskers will be pissed off come the summer holidays and no fuckers wants us flying there due to the UK being the Covid capital of the world. How I shall laugh then Grin

Quaggars · 02/07/2021 00:38

Meh, I can't get worked up about masks.
I don't particularly like wearing one, and when I don't have to it comes straight off.
In shops though, I'm kind of used to it lol.
I don't get people who judge others for wearing or not wearing one.
