We need to cancel our U.K. break don’t we?

Sad

DTs off isolating due to a case in their primary bubble. DTs are fine with no symptoms. We are supposed to be going on holiday next week to a U.K. caravan but their isolation does not end until mid week.

We have a policy which will allow us to move it free of cost but I am so sad it’s another one cancelled Sad

Families deal with the risk of illness all the time BUT do you know what is different with COVID? The restrictions are in place to minimise spread of a quickly changing virus that could easily if left to spread out of control make a vacc resistant strain. which would put us back at stage one.
Would you give your hospital bed up for a vulnerable child so that they can have proper care. Your child bed if they were sick?

If the answer is no do your part and don't deliberately bend the rules. When the rules change - fine go about your life BUT for today the rules say people in close contact with a positive have to isolate - this means not going on holiday.

@MrMeSeeks

Wow. This thread is so srlfish. Isolate means isolate Hmm I’m glad you’re doing the right thing op
It's incredibly selfish..
JemimaMoon · 30/06/2021 13:48

Definitely the right thing to do in postponing. I hope DT2 feels better soon and doesn't share too freely x

Devongirl99 · 30/06/2021 13:52

Of course the answer is no you can't go! Shock

Devongirl99 · 30/06/2021 14:00

Ps. I do hope your child gets better very soon and it isn't covid. X

Devongirl99 · 30/06/2021 14:14

@covidsucker

The caravan is just for us but we have booked lots of activities for DTs . Some outdoor but they will be in contact with others . One is a farm park and they’d be on the tractor rides and petting the animals .

I’d feel very uneasy about going knowing that they should be isolating. I only have a small window to change it free of cost. If one DT tests positive at the last minute , I’d still have to pay for everything.

It sounds like such a lovely holiday. You will have a lovely time when you finally get to go! Daffodil

They have literally announced today that isolation for contacts inc kids ends on July 19 so it be fine

What are you going on about?

Who wouldn't give their hospital bed up for a child? What a silly question.

Covidworries · 30/06/2021 14:42

So you would give up your chance of any treatment so a vunerable child can get treatment for covid? Good to know

wasthataburp · 30/06/2021 14:45

Yes, for anything that would be life threatening to a child. To say otherwise would be like saying that you wouldn't give the last place on a lifeboat to a child etc. If immediate life threatening then surely any decent adult would put a child's life before their own? No?
Covidworries · 30/06/2021 14:46

But you wouldnt isolate after contact with a positive case? Can you not see the irony

Blossomtoes · 30/06/2021 14:46

All you frothers clearly haven’t seen the news today that testing and bubbles in schools are about to become history. Who are you all going to call “selfish” then?

Where has that been announced? And is it for everyone? Can't see it in the BBC live ticker.

I have seen this today:

Williamson hopes to lift school bubble restrictions from 19 July
The education secretary says he expects to be able to confirm plans to lift restrictions and bubbles in schools as part of step four of England's roadmap out of lockdown.
Step four is due to take place on 19 July.

But nothing more

Quartz2208 · 30/06/2021 14:49

Blossomtoes it is clear that there is a fairly high chance one of the children has Covid themselves so it is all moot anyway

But when testing ends, they won’t know, will they?

I give up! 😐🔫

No they didn't. They said they hoped to be able to announce plans for isolation to end for kids on 19th July. It's not quite the same.
JS87 · 30/06/2021 14:56

All the articles I’ve read talk about school bubbles changing from September not july 19

Nobody was 'frothing' for saying people should stick to current rules. Great, things are changing, but there is no need to be rude about people who follow what is in place at the time.

Watapalava · 30/06/2021 15:00

News sites all reporting vaccinated adults no longer isolating after July 19

Also reporting kids isolation replaced with testing

Most kids contacts are via school

Weekly testing of kids also being looked at to reduce or stop that too

Watapalava · 30/06/2021 15:01

The narrative now is changin to stop people looking at cases

Abraxan · 30/06/2021 15:01
@Abraxan it's literally all over the news today
It's not in the BBC News homepage or live feed.
I've not seen Tv news or newspapers.

I've seen that GW says he is hoping to stop school bubble isolations from 19 July but nothing that confirms it is definitely happening, or that the same will happen for the general public re contacts/isolation.

I'd like to think that we won't have to isolate for anyone more than a very close contact such as household, but wondered where it had been confirmed for all.

mn2022 · 30/06/2021 15:04

After the football last night?

I would be going no question

wasthataburp · 30/06/2021 15:08

@Watapalava

Which is exactly the right thing to do now. Cases are not important. Deaths / hospitalisations are
