We need to cancel our U.K. break don’t we?

Sad

DTs off isolating due to a case in their primary bubble. DTs are fine with no symptoms. We are supposed to be going on holiday next week to a U.K. caravan but their isolation does not end until mid week.

We have a policy which will allow us to move it free of cost but I am so sad it’s another one cancelled Sad

Don’t cancel. Enough is enough.

Delatron · 29/06/2021 22:07

Go and have a lovely holiday rather than keep your (healthy) kid inside.

Swirlingasong · 29/06/2021 22:07

@DGFB

I’d also test and go! The vulnerable are vaccinated
Vulnerable children who had to shield are not vaccinated. They are forced to be in school. Literally the only protection they have is other people following the rules. As a parent of one of these children, it is terrifying. No holiday is worth more than my child.
covidsucker · 29/06/2021 22:07

The caravan is just for us but we have booked lots of activities for DTs . Some outdoor but they will be in contact with others . One is a farm park and they’d be on the tractor rides and petting the animals .

I’d feel very uneasy about going knowing that they should be isolating. I only have a small window to change it free of cost. If one DT tests positive at the last minute , I’d still have to pay for everything.

If it’s stressful to you then cancel. You don’t want to worry. I would only go if I could relax and not worry.

Beautiful3 · 29/06/2021 22:10

Just go.

covidsucker · 29/06/2021 22:11

I think it would be stressful trying to keep them away from others in the pool , at the farm and in the soft play .

Am I being ridiculous? Blush I almost feel stupid for even considering cancelling at this point but the whole point of isolation is to stop it spreading to others. Blush

Just go. You won’t get a medal for being a rule follower at this stage of the game.

pitterpatterrain · 29/06/2021 22:11

I think we are at the point where it is all a bunch of rubbish

Look at the football fans

And my 4 year old should spend 10 days inside?

It’s a bunch of complete utter illogical, unscientific tosh

Go on holiday

Pixxie7 · 29/06/2021 22:13

You can always says it’s an experiment. I would test and go.

ginoclocksomewhere · 29/06/2021 22:13

They should be self isolating! You should absolutely cancel! They shouldn't be in a pool separate from other children, let alone in a poor with them!

You really have no excuse if you're able to move it. (Frankly, even if you couldn't it's not an excuse).

shetlandponies · 29/06/2021 22:14

Nope I'd still be going

ZenNudist · 29/06/2021 22:15

No symptoms just go.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/06/2021 22:15

just go.

Move the booked activities to after their isolation period ends. On those first few days just keep to yourselves on walks etc.

SillyBub · 29/06/2021 22:15

We had a positive case in a Year 1 class in the school I work in last Friday. Since then 4 more from that class have tested positive. Please isolate your DTs like you've been asked to do.

Heyyeahyouwiththesadface · 29/06/2021 22:16

The vulnerable don’t always develop a full immune response, not everyone vulnerable can be vaccinated. As long as your family is alright eh Jack?

Self isolation guidance (unless symptomatic) will be changing in a couple of weeks.

I just watched 40k people in Wembley mask less all sat together sweating all over each other and cheering in each others faces.

Delatron · 29/06/2021 22:16

It really is going to get to the point where about 2% of the population are still following these rules and the rest get on with their lives (as much as they can).

MoiraNotRuby · 29/06/2021 22:16

I wouldn't go. You can cancel at no cost.

There is an immunosuppressed child in my village and if she caught covid it would be v serious. To think this could happen because of someone who could have isolated and didn't, it would be heartbreaking.

Also, my DC would be very anxious going away when they knew they were meant to isolate. So it would not even be a good holiday.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/06/2021 22:17

What would you suggest is the long term plan here then? Everyone stay indoors til the end of time?

Delatron · 29/06/2021 22:17

Yes.
Pop the football on and you won’t care anymore. It’s quite cathartic...

You are not being ridiculous. If your children have to isolate that means isolate, not isolate unless there is something fun to do.

You can get your money back now so do it rather than risk losing the lot or passing covid onto people who may be vulnerable.

Me neither.

The rules are there to protect others and I’d feel very selfish breaking them for a non essential holiday.

Holidayhomeone · 29/06/2021 22:20

I’d be inclined to say just test and go, but won’t your children go back to school the following week and tell all their friends and teacher they’ve been on holiday though?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/06/2021 22:21

Presuming Scotland and finished for the Summer?
