Sad

DTs off isolating due to a case in their primary bubble. DTs are fine with no symptoms. We are supposed to be going on holiday next week to a U.K. caravan but their isolation does not end until mid week.

We have a policy which will allow us to move it free of cost but I am so sad it’s another one cancelled Sad

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

All this testing of healthy symptomless people is absolute madness and if people still die from

I think you’ve missed the OP’s update. Her children aren’t symptomless now.

Oh if my kids had a positive test no I wouldn't go, I thought it was just being sent home because of bubble thing
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/07/2021 10:10

I don’t think they have a result yet, but they are a close contact and one now has Covid symptoms. Could be something else, but the chances don’t look good.

The decision’s been made, all the media coverage is preemptive to soften up those who want us to live with restrictions for ever. The sooner they forget about cases and focus on hospital admissions and deaths the better.

Going to be honest, did think it would take a bit more than 24 hours before we started rowing back on this one.

How is your DS2 doing OP? Have you had the test results back yet.

I've been worrying about our hol , it's just me and dd, so if she is told to isolate by school no one will check so we can still go? She finished a week before we leave so any risk of passing on would be minimal. If I stay in for week before we should be fine then.

We've got dentist appt day before holiday, I've just realised it would be wise to move that!!

We are now at a point where we have always been with people who are ill/have children who are ill. There are those who care and those who don’t. For years people have been taking kids out to parties and the like whilst still contagious with a bug etc not giving a damn if they spread it around, covid is the same now, some people have a moral compass and some don’t

olivethegreat · 02/07/2021 06:46

Most children who are told to isolate don't test positive . No one is saying we would go anywhere with sick children . Testing daily seems the safest and most practical thing to go, keeping healthy children indoors for ten days is batshit.

Delta is a whole new kettle of fish though. I don’t know how much you can rely on what’s happened on the past.

The naturalR0 number of delta is thought to be between 5&8. That’s going to get out of hand very quickly if we don’t use non-pharma interventions to keep it down. It’s going to start looking like chicken pox in a nursery/reception class but with more death and long term disability and that’s just the risks we know about and not including the risks to other household members, their family and friends and work colleagues.

I’m so glad you decided not to go, OP. I live in a tourist town that’s currently suffering an absolutely massive spike in cases. Double vaccinated people have caught it. It’s spreading rapidly in the 20s and 30s age group, some of whom have been very ill and hospitalised. Hotels, bars and restaurants have had to close because their staff are ill or having to isolate. These poor businesses were only just getting back on their feet and have now had to close again. Tourists have caught it here and taken it home again. Please, people, if you’re supposed to be isolating, don’t go on holiday!

ChocOrange1 · 02/07/2021 18:38

I would go. Spend the first few days at your accommodation (so you're still isolating, but just in a different place), or maybe take a trip to an outdoor place where it would be easy to SD such as a quiet beach or park.

Then once their isolation period ends, enjoy the rest of your holiday.
