We need to cancel our U.K. break don’t we?

Sad

DTs off isolating due to a case in their primary bubble. DTs are fine with no symptoms. We are supposed to be going on holiday next week to a U.K. caravan but their isolation does not end until mid week.

We have a policy which will allow us to move it free of cost but I am so sad it’s another one cancelled Sad

@wasthataburp I’ve updated to say DT2 is now feeling unwell. No way could I take them now.

All these people saying some people can't be vaccinated/vaccines aren't 100% effective need a reality check. We won't be able to eradicate covid or prevent anyone from getting it ever, just like we accept that 50-100,000 people in this country die of flu every year and we don't lock down because of that.

Pumpkinstace · 30/06/2021 11:20

I feel a bit sad for you OP.

Sweettea1 · 30/06/2021 11:32

Go on your holiday. Its one rule for the rich and famous and one for us it's a joke. When the government start following there own advice then maybe I will.

covidcloser · 30/06/2021 11:35

I'm at home instead of being on holiday right now for the same reason as OP.

I would rather stick by the rules and be a good person than act like the 'rich and famous' with no moral compass.

Notstrongandstable · 30/06/2021 11:46

I can't believe the amount of posters telling the OP to go.
So many entitled people in the UK...no other country refuses masks and rules as much as people here do.
Can people shut up about the football..presumably none of those people were meant to be isolating as I believe you have to show the NHS app on your phone to get in. These events are a stepping stone back to normal life but we'll never get there if people keep not following the rules

Bananahana · 30/06/2021 11:47

What would Matt Hancock do?

TheGenealogist · 30/06/2021 11:51

I would go.

And probably test the kids first. Families have missed out on so much and are now being asked to give up even more, on the off chance that a child maybe has Covid?

Chicoryhickory · 30/06/2021 11:51

Am I the only one who thinks you should cancel? Rules are rules at the end of the day.

I agree. I'd be really annoyed to think I may be holiday and my children are swimming with other children who are meant to be isolating after close contact. Also all the other parents who are keeping their children in while you go off on holiday. Sorry, I know it's disappointing for you but would you actually enjoy it if you went? How about if they come down with symptoms whilst you're away?
covidcloser · 30/06/2021 11:53

@Bananahana

What would Matt Hancock do?

Does it matter?

Who models their behaviour on his?

Can some1 pass this on to those that make the rules. Do as I say not as I do comes to mind.
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/06/2021 11:57

@Watapalava

T&T don’t contact via school isolations

I’d go and test daily

No but if the school provide Zoom classes they'll be expected to attend daily.
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/06/2021 12:03

@JellyBabiesFan

For many, many vulnerable the vaccine is not effective or not very effective

Perhaps they should be the ones isolating then.

My DS1 has been isolating for 18 months, on his hospital's advice. It's very detrimental to his MH. How long would you like him to continue for?

Precisely. You cannot live the rest of your life isolating and social distancing etc just because the vaccine may not work for some people. It is utter madness
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 30/06/2021 12:07

@SeaShoreGalore

What's a DT? Dear Tot? Confused
Dear/Darling Twin. Hmm
wasthataburp · 30/06/2021 12:09

@TheLovelinessOfDemons sorry but that's irrelevant. Sorry for your family but it's really not the entire populations problem is it. There is literally nothing other people can do about it.

Chillychangchoo · 30/06/2021 12:22

@TheLovelinessOfDemons

Out of other people’s control I’m afraid. We didn’t isolate for members of society who were at risk of influenza vaccine escape (which there is always plenty) the efficacy of that vaccine falls short of the covid vaccines, yet we were not expected to work our lives around for that particular sub group.

Life just doesn’t work like that does it? It must be bloody awful for your family and here’s hoping they introduce the vaccine ASAP for CEV children.

Crackbadger · 30/06/2021 12:30

@DGFB

I’d also test and go! The vulnerable are vaccinated
I'm 50 and had second vaccination this week. Not all vulnerable are vaccinated yet.
Chillychangchoo · 30/06/2021 12:32

@Crackbadger

Being 50 doesn’t actually make you vulnerable. If you were clinically vulnerable then you would have been vaccinated by now.

MrsVeryTired · 30/06/2021 12:37

Good that you did the right thing OP, probably wouldn't have fully enjoyed the holiday anyway.

And when you mentioned where your children sit in class, I might have missed what age they are but (scotland) our primary children mix a lot and don't stay in place all day. They line up to go out for break/lunch etc and absolutely no social distancing.

Hope you all keep well and very sad that so many would break advice, we still have to protect the vulnerable who may not be vaccinated yet (children) or who can't have the vaccine for whatever reason.

Thought the way out is vaccines. Am sure every1 would follow the rules if they were set for every1 but when you have football teams not having to isolate, Matt Hancock doing what he wishes and boris saying its fine he said sorry. why should we keep our dc In the house? I've had my vacs all my family an friends have an an pretty much every1 I know. if people have chosen not to have it then that's on them if they catch its not our fault. Time to get back to normal we have had enough of this sh#t show.

Chillychangchoo · 30/06/2021 13:27

@covidcloser

Not really no. The vast majority of 50 year olds survive covid.

Anyway the vast majority of 50 year olds have had the sense to be vaccinated a good few months ago, so I can’t really get that worked up about 50 year olds who are only just arsed to get the vaccine right now.

MrMeSeeks · 30/06/2021 13:32

Wow. This thread is so srlfish.
Isolate means isolate Hmm
I’m glad you’re doing the right thing op
