Does anyone else think the trial club nights at Liverpool are a mistake?

Trial club nights 6000 people no masks or social distancing. You have to have had negative lateral test before attending and are 'encouraged' not compulsory for pcr test 5 days after.
I think this is too soon to be trialling large crowds when people can't even go in their mums house indoors

I think it's probably OK as they're having LFT's and presumably being followed up. It's as good as time as any to try now, at the start of summer. IIRC they were very keen on the ventilation side of things.

Fwiw I won't even go to gyms and restaurants as I think it's risky, especially shared toilets that aren't well ventilated. They can be the guinea pigs.

musicalfrog · 01/05/2021 07:24

It's great they are trialling now and means we can all go back to normal sooner than later. I have missed it so much! Can't wait to get back on the dance floor.

AgnesNaismith · 01/05/2021 07:25

No and I hope they had a great time. I bet this is the first experience of a nightclub for some of them!

actiongirl1978 · 01/05/2021 07:26

I think it was amazing. I cried for them I was so happy. Brilliant idea, great to trial it.

SeaTurtles92 · 01/05/2021 07:27

I think it's ridiculous. We still have restrictions yet 6000 people can go off and mingle whilst the rest of us muppets abide to the rules.

Absolute joke. Who's even to say that the test is even their own.

ILookAtTheFloor · 01/05/2021 07:28

No, it's a fabulous idea.

All the trial events so far have been successful, no covid spikes afterwards. I'm all for it.

ZNation · 01/05/2021 07:28

I'm not against the trial or nightclubs reopening at all but just think it's come before people allowed to see family indoors which doesn't make sense

They tested as they entered and it validated their tickets once it was neg, it wasn't self reported.

Sirzy · 01/05/2021 07:29

I guess only time will tell.

It is a very positive sign that things are in a position where we can trial things like this. Personally it will be a long time before I feel comfy in a crowd like that though

harridan50 · 01/05/2021 07:29

I am glad that the young people got to have a good time,

Temp023 · 01/05/2021 07:30

It’s a TRIAL!
We can’t all stay locked up forever ffs!

Suzi888 · 01/05/2021 07:30

I know what you mean with gyms still being shut, holidays up in the air, it seems a bit weird. However this is a controlled experiment and we need to get life moving again.

StylishMummy · 01/05/2021 07:31

The whole event is being run and monitored by scientists as a way to test mass testing at events. We need to get life back to normal ASAP. I'd end all measures tomorrow personally, but this is a very encouraging step to normality and I bet these people are so excited to be part of it!

ItsOnLikeDonkeyKong · 01/05/2021 07:31

Got to start somewhere. I hope they had a great time.

PoTheDog · 01/05/2021 07:31

Nope, we need the trial to see if it is safe to open up properly.

Doing it while there are still restrictions means that any negative effects from the trial are easier to contain and also are more visible in the coming weeks. Also protects the any at risk relatives from those involved in the trial.

It's not like they are going to allow nightclubs to properly open before family visits can

joystir59 · 01/05/2021 07:33

Great idea. Some people just LOVE being controlled and controlling don't they?

ZenNudist · 01/05/2021 07:34

It's a good idea to trial large events before everything opens up. The young people will be fine anyway.

Thatswatshesaid · 01/05/2021 07:35

It’s wonderful. When I was young dancing and socialising was a huge part of my life. I can only imagine how crazy that party’s going to be! They will be literally screaming with joy. Wish I was young enough to do something like that again.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/05/2021 07:35

It's come before family indoors so we can REALLY test it

I was so happy for those young people 🙏

musicalfrog · 01/05/2021 07:36

Ooh yes those lucky duckies who got to be part of it. I hope they really let their hair down!

ThornAmongstRoses · 01/05/2021 07:39

I’ve just seen it on the news and everyone looked so happy and it made me feel happy to watch them.

I can’t wait to see the back of masks and I hope this Trial is your first step towards it.

TimeForLunch · 01/05/2021 07:40

It's a great idea and looked like so much fun! We have to test the water somehow. I think to some people the footage looks shocking because crowds indoors have been banned for so long but we really need to get back to normality.

balloonsandboobies · 01/05/2021 07:40

It's a great idea. It's a well controlled trial. Opening up to allow people to see families indoors again can't be tested in this way, so yes it makes sense for this trial to happen first.
I can only imagine how utterly ecstatic those young people who attended were. They deserve this.

Dontjudgeme101 · 01/05/2021 07:41

I totally get what you are saying. I am 50/50 about this experiment. Time will tell, whether it was a good idea or not!
GelfBride · 01/05/2021 07:44

I think it's far too early and a crazy idea.
