So many talking about how this is the great reset, how this doesn't stop until we say it does and how we are never coming out of lockdown etc.
Think they are going to feel a bit stupid over the coming weeks!

OP posts:
Magnificentmug12 · 05/04/2021 13:23

I’ve heard the complete opposite.
“Can’t wait for lockdown to be over” and “can’t wait for everything to be back to normal” said the most, not heard people wanting it to go on longer!!

dividedwefall · 05/04/2021 13:26

Interesting take @LemonSherbetFancies.

On the day that Boris is due to announce the vaccine passport (that conspiracy theory again pah!) is to be trialled then probably rolled out to everyone, I do think you might be right!

It will all be over by next week when there are no cases, in spite of the Operation Moonshoot that will also be announced today which is ongoing for 2 years according to a recent posting about contracts.

I think people are really stupid too and this will all be over by next week like you.

Bluntness100 · 05/04/2021 13:32

Never heard anyone say that, the opposite is what I’m hearing,

Ok I’ll bite. What do you mean by “this will all be over by next week”? What will be over? Lockdown? - because they’ve said they’re releasing as per the roadmap dates at the earliest.

Me too. Maybe we hang around in the wrong circles!

I was being sarcastic to the OP saying people who think this is ongoing will feel stupid in a few weeks. The government are today announcing two long term expensive and invasive projects that have the sole aim of keeping this going as long as possible.

@dividedwefall your post is worded terribly, re read it

Lastfreakinglegs · 05/04/2021 13:59

What, now they are introducing a two tier society based on a social credit style vaccine passport. Dont fucking think so. Brexit means we can barely leave our own country. Protest and dessent to be severely punished. Its just the start.

Maybe. The old 'you can't copy edit your own work' may be at play because it makes sense to me.

Although to be fair we both hang around here and hear a bit of it, 😃

Um what now? Brexit doesn’t mean you can’t leave the country 😂

True. Lately I have been swerving a lot of the Covid stuff because it tends to go around in circles. 'Killing grannies' seems to have gone away a bit as well as asking the MN massive to give permission for a walk 5 miles away etc.

Things are (on the whole) looking up.

This government cares about the economy above all. Lockdown is terrible for the economy. Vaccine passports have worked in Israel as a nudge to get people vaccinated who wouldn’t otherwise want to be and that’s what they’re trying to achieve here. It might or might not work. Getting as many people as possible vaccinated is the quickest way to get the economy moving again. They’re not trying to spin lockdown out any longer than necessary.

dividedwefall · 05/04/2021 14:09

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel it isn't the fastest way to get the economy moving again though. That's just what you've been told. The quickest way would be to drop all restrictions, today, and get back to normal.

Geamhradh · 05/04/2021 14:11

This time last the loons were here in full force with their reset conspiracy theories, but, tbf, it's been a while since we've had one.

Well yes it’s the quickest way but you do realise that with half the population unvaccinated, travellers coming in and most of the population not fully vaccinated it would be like sitting up and begging for a fourth wave,

Maybe the poster should have said the “quickest safest way” although I assume they felt it didn’t need saying, Confused

It's just like Brexiters constantly claiming that Remain forecast WWIII, economic meltdown, mass starvation etc if Brexit went ahead.

The pathology of these charlatans seems to be to exaggerate what sensible people are saying into something quite ridiculous, and then a few weeks/months later, pretend that this was the claim all along.

Bluntness100 · 05/04/2021 14:14

Agree, and there seems to be fewer folks living life at the extremes,,the whole “open up now it’s all a conspiracy” or the other end “keep locked down forever” nonsense going on. Overall very positive 😃

Bluntness100 · 05/04/2021 14:15

To be fair sone folks did predict that, who can forget the prepping threads with folks hiding tins of beans under their beds ans urging others not to tell their neighbours they had them,

MaxNormal · 05/04/2021 14:19

Some of the conspiracy theories are looking a lot more plausible than they used to, tbf.

amylou8 · 05/04/2021 14:20

It's just 3 weeks to protect the NHS.... it's just until the vulnerable are vaccinated....sorry to cancel Christmas you can have it at Easter.....it's just until everyone is vaccinated....it's just until you've all got your covid passports...it's just until there's zero cases in the UK....it's just until there's zero cases worldwide...it's just until us and all our mates are filthy rich and you lot will do whatever the fuck we tell you.

This government and it’s leadership care most about covering their own backs - nothing else. A well functioning economy means nothing to Johnson now and will mean even less so when he is filling his financial boots Blair style after leaving office (which I suspect will be sooner rather than later).
