I think what many people have done this past year is deliberately conflate conspiracy theorists with people who have reasonable concerns about the unjustified measures which have been taken by the government in the name of tackling Covid. People are even doing it on this thread.
This has had the effect of stifling reasoned, necessary debate and meant the Government and its various scientists have never been held properly to account.

So many talking about how this is the great reset, how this doesn't stop until we say it does and how we are never coming out of lockdown etc. Think they are going to feel a bit stupid over the coming weeks!

Literally, never heard anyone say anything like this at all.

I would imagine they will react in the same way I will - waiting nervously for the next lockdown. I'm no conspiracist. But we will probably have a summer of few restrictions and then be plunged back into a lockdown in the autumn.

I have seen people on Twitter saying we will never get back to normal, but that’s not the same as saying that we will be in lockdown forever. What I’ve seen is claims that things like asymptomatic testing, domestic vaccine passports and travel restrictions will still be around for a long time.

I don’t think that makes them nut jobs. We accept stepping into full body scanners every time we fly, which would have been unthinkable before 9/11. I wouldn’t be surprised if some societal changes do stick around in the same way as post-9/11 travel changes.

Schools are open, shops and pubs are opening again soon, and we can mix in small groups outdoors. Everyone I know is tested twice each week, as are our kids. Vaccination programme is ongoing.
Lockdowns are over in all but name and although there won't be any major large gatherings permitted, everyone I know is now returning to normal.
Will there be further lockdowns? Only of a new variant strain emerges which is resistant to current vaccines.

The timing of the 'pandemic' is frighteningly coincidental with a key stage in the implementation of a totalitarian technocracy.

In researching what is needed for this global shift, it can be seen that many elements of this technocracy are already in place. Next on the list are the implementation of 5G, the disappearance (somehow) of the middle classes and a social credit system.

The loss of small businesses and job losses of the past year can be seen as the start of the social credit system. Making people dependent on the state.

With an eye on these objectives, it's difficult not to see the rollout of an experimental vaccine in such a short space of time as a convenient way to rapidly reduce the number of people in a country.

I am firmly of the opinion that we need to have our wits about us.

The lockdown has been ignored by many for awhile now (locals here are moaning about a restaurant accepting local clients while pretending to be shut for example) and I have never been worried it would last too badly.

That said, with Europe just going back into lockdown and restrictions about international travel being unknown, not sure how you can pretend that's it's all over either.

Until we are not stuck with bloody staycation, we are not back to normal are we.

The day after Trump was elected I got a taxi. The driver was a proper conspiracy nut and was desperately trying to work out why Trump had won - he had heard that the whole election had been rigged so that a Hilary Clinton victory was guaranteed. You could see he was genuinely perplexed as to why it had happened. It never seemed to enter his head that it happened because the election wasn’t rigged.

I know he is being used to prove an unrelated point but Bertrand Russell had a great deal to say about methods governments would like to use to usher in totalitarianism. He was a very, very interesting man.
