How long was it between vaccination and feeling grotty?
I usually get a flu vaccine and have no problems, but for some reason I'm a bit jittery. I'm having mine next week so checking I've got migraine meds and stuff ready just in case.

I called the helpline and they were useless.
**@Timeisavirtue* the side effects send me into a frenzy thinking about it* I think the way to reassure yourself is to remember that a couple of days’ side effects are infinitely better than Covid.
Depends an awful lot on how Covid would affect you. Many people recover fine or have no symptoms.

ancientgran · 22/03/2021 10:38

I had no problems. Felt fine and happy I'd had it. DH felt unwell, bit like mild flu.

Sansaplans · 22/03/2021 10:39

DH is allergic to penicillin and he just had a bit of a sore arm for a few days, but was otherwise absolutely fine. Its not a foregone conclusion, fingers crossed you'll be absolutely fine :)

EatTheCakeBarry · 22/03/2021 10:39

Day 1 AZ at 9am, started to get headache about 7pm, then developed into shivers, upset stomach, very sore arm, ached all over.

Day 2 completely exhausted, weak, and still had all symptoms.

I am on day 3, still have a headache and a bit achy all over. I cannot raise my arm above shoulder height, it feels like I have been punched in the arm, but when I raise it, it feels like my muscle has been cut, like a post-surgery feeling and my goodness it hurts.

Dh had his jab at the exact same time, has a sore arm. No other symptoms.

ComDummings · 22/03/2021 10:42

Had AZ, have had an achy arm for 2 days and have felt very tired. The night I got it I was a bit shaky and cold but no fever. Been 2 days now and I’m still tired with an achy arm but all very bearable and fine. I’m prone to migraines so was worried about headaches but have had none Smile

whatisforteamum · 22/03/2021 10:44

I've got emetophobia thefairycaravan and tbh felt off but it was worth it.Very few pple on here have actually said they vomited. Good luck you will be fine.

TheStarMachine · 22/03/2021 10:45

I had AZ at 11am, started feeling cold and exhausted around 8pm and went to bed with a headache. Slept in several layers and had a headache the next day and felt fluey all day but nothing paracetamol couldn't fix and I felt almost fine by 8pm that evening. Arm was a bit tender if I poked it for a few days afterwards. Partner had his at the same time and was fine. I can't wait to get the second dose!

WithTeaTree · 22/03/2021 11:20

If it’s any reassurance, I had it at the weekend and apart from a slightly sore upper arm I’ve had no other side effects.

BountyIsUnderrated · 22/03/2021 12:28

I had mine yesterday around 10am felt fine all day.
Woke up this morning with a fever, aches, pains, nausea, mild headache and feeling very disoriented/faint.
I'm drugged up in painkillers now but just feel really off, still I imagine it's better than getting covid.

BountyIsUnderrated · 22/03/2021 12:30

Forgot to add, lifting my arm up in the air feels like being stabbed by shards of glass in the bit where they injected. Just a warning for those with an achy arm. Grin

KitchenFairy · 22/03/2021 12:50

48 hours later now for me and other than a sore arm I’m absolutely fine.

NeedWineNow · 22/03/2021 14:21

Just following up on my previous post - apart from my arm feeling a bit sore (I can raise it without any problems though) I feel tight as rain today. And if you want a bit more reassurance my friend, who has had a couple of severe health problems (heart attack and breast cancer) only had a stiff arm, tiredness and a runny nose for a couple of days.

NeedWineNow · 22/03/2021 14:23

'Right' not 'tight'! I sound like I've been on the ginGrin

LostToucan · 22/03/2021 14:31

@GoLightlyontheEarth

I can report back that over 48 hrs on I've had nothing worse than a sore arm (felt like I'd been punched) that was easily managed with paracetamol, and that's gone now too.

BountyIsUnderrated · 22/03/2021 15:17

@LostToucan

I think I may be one of the unlucky ones reading these comments.
I must admit I am a bit perplexed as my first jab I had nothing worse than a sore arm.
I know some people in my circle saying the 2nd one has floored them others saying they are fine.
I still feel bad but only like a mild flu, I imagine by tomorrow I will be back to normal. /fingers crossed

dementedma · 22/03/2021 15:41

AZ at 12 yesterday. Came home and slept for 2 hours, felt better. Then a sleepless night, sweaty and shivery and horrendous headache. Slept all of this morning. Feeling a bit better now

NeverForgetYourDreams · 22/03/2021 18:05

3rd day....still feeling zapped and like I'm on a fairground ride. Head is like it's in a vice and my glands in neck feel swollen. Managed work but it was hard. Another early night. Hoping 4th day brings more joy.

If this is even in a small way what Covid is like then I'm glad I haven't contracted it yet. This is bad enough and it's minor symptoms

Me too. I couldn't dry my hair today and every top I put on hurt so have gone to work today like it was a 25 degree summers day with a strappy top on!
MrsBennetsnerves · 22/03/2021 18:45

I had chills and aches in my arm around 14 hours after the jab. DH had it 2 hours before me, and he had similar symptoms in a similar time frame.

badlydrawnbear · 22/03/2021 18:53

Had second dose Pfizer at about 9am, 14hrs later I had a headache and felt generally a bit crap, had some paracetamol and got on with my night shift. Felt a bit crap again by 10am, which was probably paracetamol wearing off, went to sleep for a few hours and had some paracetamol as generally achy and couldn't decide if I was too hot or too cold and my arm really hurt. That was this morning, feel ok now. To be honest, it might not even be a vaccine side effect, it could be a side effect of my job and my ridiculous shift pattern.

aliellerb · 22/03/2021 19:09

I had AZ on Saturday, 12 hours later the shivers started hardly slept at all, yesterday was completely floored aches/headaches, didn't sleep again last night. Today still in bed but now it's nausea and basically feeling horrendous. I am really hoping I'm feeling better tomorrow.

Benjispruce2 · 22/03/2021 19:40

Had 1st dose AZ yesterday at 1pm. Woke in the night with fever and banging head. Also achey pains. Took paracetamol in morning and went to work. Was ok with regular doses of paracetamol. Feeling a bit better now. I’m 50.

chocolateisavegetable · 22/03/2021 20:00

@EatTheCakeBarry I was told that if side-effects exist more than 48 hours after vaccination, you should call your GP / 111 for advice. Were you told the same?

I had mine this afternoon - arm has been sore and I suddenly feel utterly exhausted, like I could go to bed right now. Will see how I am tomorrow!

I'm also allergic to penicillin, but the doctor asked me several questions about the allergy before giving me the vaccine, which I found reassuring.

LIZS · 22/03/2021 20:04

AZ yesterday morning. Achy by evening, did not sleep well and felt like I had a bad head cold this morning. Took paracetamol and have been ok but tired for rest of today.
