How long was it between vaccination and feeling grotty?
I usually get a flu vaccine and have no problems, but for some reason I'm a bit jittery. I'm having mine next week so checking I've got migraine meds and stuff ready just in case.

I’m surprised how bad I felt tbh. Am in early thirties and it floored me. Had AZ Weds evening then lost the next two days! Flu style shakes, joint pain, awful muscle cramps and fever. Glad I got it but didn’t expect this.

Itoldyouthatmum4 · 20/03/2021 16:51

Had Pfizer jab in January with no side effects at all. Not even sore arm.

Had second jab Wednesday. Felt lethargic and out of sorts all day Thursday. Spent the day on the sofa under a blanket. Arm was aching. Paracetamol definitely helped. Felt back to normal yesterday (Friday).

Jingers5 · 20/03/2021 16:53

I had AZ on Thursday afternoon. That night l woke up with severe muscle aches, l could hardly walk with the pain in my toes. I had a bad headache as well (like a rough hangover), sore arm and fatigued today. I'm glad l got the vaccine though.

KnottyKnitting · 20/03/2021 16:56

AZ- I had nothing of note, slight headache 8 hours after but that's not unusual for me.
DH felt absolutely freezing and a bit feverish on and off for 24 hours but totally controlled with paracetamol.

SiL and DSis nothing, BiL bit rough for 24 hours.

NanaRant · 20/03/2021 17:01

Had the AZ vaccine on Thursday at 11a.m. Felt fine, went to bed at 10.30pm. Hellish night - temperature, shakes, flu-like body aches (no headache though). That went on for 2 days and was able to get out of bed on the Sunday, but still wiped out. I am 50. That was worse than actual Covid for me (not saying Covid isn't bad, my family members were very ill, but for me, I have had worse flu).

Everyone I know that had the AZ vaccine have felt bad in varying degrees and my son-in-law had Pfizer and had 24 hour flu-like symptoms with complete recovery the next day. My father-in-law was worse with his second Pfizer vaccine - just had a raised temperature with his first, flu-like on second. We have all had covid, not sure if that made any difference? (i.e. 3 out of 6 of us have had the vaccine, all 3 reacted).

I had AZ at 12 on Thursday. Felt woozy almost immediately .
Was achey when I went to bed but not to bad. That night was awful. I hurt so badly and had electric shock type pains in my limbs which caused my body to spasm.
I had to be helped to the loo as I couldn’t walk unaided. My jabbed arm was unusable.
Spent Friday in bed sleeping. Couldn’t get up to go to work.
Got up for a couple of hours in the evening then slept for 12 hours.
Today I thought I felt better and popped to the shops but was so weak I could barely walk. Arm is bad again and I’m itchy.
Stomach a bit odd but no vomiting and not much fever.
I am doubtful I’ll be strong enough to go to work on Monday unless a minor miracle happens.
I am very scared of having the second dose.
I am 53 and otherwise healthy.

BigButtons · 20/03/2021 17:42

Painkillers are making almost no difference, they take the edge off a tad I suppose, but not to any degree that makes me feel functional. Never in a million years did I think my body would react like this.

FiveGs · 20/03/2021 17:43

10 hours almost exactly from jab to first symptoms.

mumsneedwine · 20/03/2021 17:45

Arm was a bit sore for a few days. And husband said his legs ached for a few hours. And that was it. We seem to have got away lightly.

Dumbledoresgirl · 20/03/2021 17:48

My reaction was relatively delayed. I had the jab at 4.15 on a Thursday afternoon. Was fine that evening and night, felt slightly rough Friday morning but took paracetamol and went to work. Started feeling rougher at lunchtime, finished work, went home and straight to bed. I then felt ill Saturday, Sunday, Monday, more or less ok Tuesday, a bit faint Wednesday. Arm still slightly sore to touch more than 2 weeks later. So, all in all, my reaction was quite delayed, not as bad as I feared, but considerably longer lasting. Still worth it though.

KitchenFairy · 20/03/2021 17:57

I had the AZ jab at 9.30 this morning. I'm 43, fit and healthy.

I felt absolutely fine until 4pm, then started feeling cold, I'm under a blanket and feel like I could easily drop off to sleep right now which isn't like me at all. I've taken a paracetamol and will probably have an early night.

Irishgene · 20/03/2021 20:02

@BrotherlyLove I had mine today and had a bit of a headache when I woke up but about 2 hours after I had the vaccine I had a migraine so took a sumatriptan and a nap. I feel very achy and a bit sick now. I'm allergic to penicillin and had covid just over 4 weeks ago, I've read that can make you feel worse but god knows if that's true!

whatisforteamum · 20/03/2021 20:23

I felt woozy and dizzy about 20 mins later and iffy tum.
Mooched about in my jacket when I got home.By 7pm I was shivery so did hot water bottle and lay on the sofa with a blanket and paracetamol.
Woke up 5 am warm but feeling more normal then just had an underlying headache most of today.
Glad I had it.😁

Secrethidingplace · 20/03/2021 22:23

Jab at 330pm. V slight headache at 8pmish. Woke up the following day feeling absolutely fine. Then by lunchtime was feeling a bit achy, headachey, slightly warm. Fine the next day. Bruised and sore arm for nearly a week

Secrethidingplace · 20/03/2021 22:26

Mine was AZ vaccine

Travelledtheworld · 20/03/2021 22:30

DH had vaccine Friday morning, felt rough last night and has spent all day in bed aching and sweating. He has recovered enough to watch Wales V France rugby this evening.

LouiseTrees · 20/03/2021 22:32

Had the AZ at 11.20, felt bad at around 7pm couldn’t sleep was cold then warm etc until was sick at 5am then was fine, slept well after that and woke up feeling fine. I’m 34.

catsandchaos · 20/03/2021 22:41

Very painful arm and hot flushes that made me feel sick. Lasted over a week

wizzler · 20/03/2021 22:44

Jab at 9am. Next morning had a headache. Felt a bit off all day. Had an early night and right as rain the next day

Joinedjustforthispost · 20/03/2021 23:01

I have my annual flu jab and I’m always fine , I finally had my 1st jab yesterday lunchtime and felt shattered by the evening, I woke up feeling warm and being sick at 2am . By the morning my whole body felt batterd I felt so sick and my head hurt like a bad hangover all of today and I’ve been sweating, I’m dreading my 2nd jab. My husband only had a sore arm! I had AstraZeneca, I honestly didn’t expect to feel so unwell so maybes I’m just unlucky?

Tempnamelady · 20/03/2021 23:05

Had the AZ Thursday eve. Friday completely wiped out with vomiting, headache, aches and shivers . Today , sore throat runny upset . I had Covid a year ago today.

FontyMcFontface · 20/03/2021 23:10

I was absolutely fine.
Dsis had the jab and was off work for a week with migraine, high temperature, shakes, etc. Both had AstraZeneca.
Dsis said her symptoms started about 12 hours after her jab.

RingPiece · 20/03/2021 23:14

I had Pfizer two weeks ago, no side effects. Sister had AZ last Saturday pm. By Sunday night she had chills/ sweats, body shakes, temp and generally felt like she was coming down with flu. She had to go into work on Monday but had to leave early as could barely move, just wanted to sleep. Spent Tuesday lunchtime asleep with her head on the desk before going home sick again. This was last week and she's still so tired all the time though no temperature or other flu-like symptoms any more. Weirdly, she had no pain or ache or bruising at all in her arm.

notangelinajolie · 20/03/2021 23:34

Had mine at 11am. Felt fine all day. It's now 12 hours later and I still feel fine. Just got into bed and after reading through this thread I have taken a couple of paracetamol just in case Confused

FreakinFrankNFurter · 20/03/2021 23:39

Jab at 11am, felt shivery at 10pm. Woke up at 3am with temperature, headache and felt rotten. Paracetamol and back to sleep after a while. Felt grotty but tired in the morning. Fine by lunchtime
