How long was it between vaccination and feeling grotty?
I usually get a flu vaccine and have no problems, but for some reason I'm a bit jittery. I'm having mine next week so checking I've got migraine meds and stuff ready just in case.

I'm going to post this again, as I did upthread. If you have a penicillin allergy, it has no effect on your ability to receive the vaccine or the side effects of the vaccine. Peddling myths about it is unhelpful. www.sps.nhs.uk/articles/advising-individuals-with-allergies-on-their-suitability-for-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine/

@pourmethevino

Has anyone had tummy troubles with the AZ vaccine? I had mine yesterday and started with a pain down my side followed by all day yesterday and through the night with very bad trapped wind but nothing eases it. I also feel as though I've been run over by a bus with a dead arm. Bad headaches, dizziness & nausea. I feel so crappy and I'm never ill off the flue jab 🤔
It gave me bad heartburn 12 hours in and since - 3 days later my guts complain whenever I eat. Mind you my entire body isn’t happy with the vaccine.
LimitIsUp · 21/03/2021 09:04

This thread has been interesting. I had my jab at 18.30 on Saturday so it is now 14.5 hours later. I feel fine but have noted that some posters didn't get side effects until 24 hours later, so I won't consider myself in the clear until this evening.

Dh is a bit peturbed that he will be doing our planned 5 mile dog walk solo this morning, but I don't feel that I should risk being on a longish walk with him when I could come down with unpleasant symptoms.

I suspect the penicillin allergy thing is just anecdata, unless anyone can point me towards a scientific paper.

@thimble41

Jab 10am Monday....Bad headache/fever the evening of, very ill with flu/migraine symptoms until Tuesday afternoon, felt a little bit tired and headachey for another 24 hours, then fine.

I had the astra zeneca...but im young (24) and have a penicillin allergy both of which make it worse apparently.

Wasn't too bad, would definitely do it again :)

@thimble41

Do you have a link for the penicillin hypothesis? I have one too and my jab is next week...

DodoAirlines · 21/03/2021 09:09

@pourmethevino - yes me! Day 2 after AZ vaccine I had terrible trapped wind, bloating, indigestion, nausea and the runs. Went on for about 4 days for me. It wasn't horrendous. I was able to continue functioning and working etc but very unpleasant.

Hope it passes for you soon Flowers

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/03/2021 09:11

I have a penicillin allergy myself and I'd never heard of this until I saw it on here. The Pfizer vaccine uses kanamycin to make one of the ingredients, but it isn't in the final product and it isn't penicillin. The AZ has no such link. I've been checked the BMJ.

It is horrendous, I can't eat anything 🤢 feel so sick with it.

Thank you, I'm sure it will pass soon 🤞

KitchenFairy · 21/03/2021 09:36

I’m exactly 24 hours post jab now.

I took a paracetamol before bed last night and slept ok. I have a slightly sore arm.

I also have a bit of a headache but that could be down to the 2 large glasses of Sauvignon Blanc I had yesterday evening.

Other than that I feel ok.

Kindperson · 21/03/2021 11:05

My first Pfizer was fine. The second, 21 days later almost instantly made me have explosive gastric symptoms and as the day went on, a temperature and weakness. The worst was the burning eyeballs, like 2 hot coals in my skull. I know that sounds stupid but it's exectly how it felt!

LubaLuca · 21/03/2021 11:11

I had the AZ yesterday at about 4pm. Felt perfectly fine, but nodded off reading my book at 9.45pm which is unusually early for me. Slept fine I think, but woke at 6am with a very heavy and achy arm and achy legs. I just feel tired now, had paracetamol which has stopped the arm from being too uncomfortable.

BlackInk · 21/03/2021 11:18

I had AZ yesterday at 4.30pm. Went to bed at about midnight feeling shivery and started aching. Didn't sleep a wink all night, every bone in my body ached. Temperature in the night was 38. Just feel tired and groggy today so far and a bit achy still.
Totally wasn't expecting to feel rough as I'm usually pretty resilient. Haven't felt as bad as I did overnight for years.

iluvsummer · 21/03/2021 12:45

Had AZ yesterday at 2pm, felt fine all night, woke up this morning feeling like I’d had a night on the tiles, pounding headache, lethargic and my arm is very sore!

SpringisSpinning · 21/03/2021 13:33

I'm really worried, im dreading this.

I do get bad headaches and stuff... I'm so not looking forward to it I'm scared

There's nothing to be scared of. If you've ever had a hangover after a night of non-stop dancing, it's no worse than that. Tired and achy, but no regrets.
Kindperson · 21/03/2021 13:46

Nothing to be scared of. Most people have nothing. My second Pfizer wasn't fun but it was just like having a mild flu and a bit of brain rot for a day. And yay, now I can travel and see my lovely mum even if I have to quarantine for 10 days at least I know I am protecting her.

Animum2 · 21/03/2021 14:05

Had the jab at 830am and started getting pain in my arm around 4am (pain woke me up) and the whole day was spent with fuzzy migraine like headache with hot and cold shivers, I was fine the following day apart from a sore arm that lasted another 3 days

adviceatthislatestage · 21/03/2021 14:15

I had my first Astra Zeneca jab, late Monday evening.

Felt fine Tuesday morning but by lunchtime, my body was achey and shivery. Proper deep in your bones aching.

Wednesday less achey, but had a massive headache which lasted all day.

On Thursday nothing at all. Not even pain my arm which I'd only had for a day or two.

With the 2nd dose, there'll be less reaction I guess?

EugenesAxe · 21/03/2021 14:23

I had AZ late morning yesterday and have allergy to penicillin and aspirin. I felt achey (like flu) in the evening but no headache or temperature; I had two paracetamol to take away the ache and it was fine. Today I'm feeling fine and have no soreness at the injection site. I am blood group O though. Apparently people with that blood group are less affected.

Ha! I wish!
AnExcellentWalker · 21/03/2021 15:10

I had mine yesterday morning. Felt fine until the evening then started feeling cold & a bit achey. By bedtime I felt absolutely freezing although no fever, I had 2 pairs of socks & 4 extra blankets on to go to bed. Slept really well when I eventually stopped shivering. By morning I was fine, just a slight headache which went very quickly with paracetamol. Demolished a roast dinner & had a nap. Grin Left shoulder slightly stiff but that's it.

AnExcellentWalker · 21/03/2021 15:11

Mine was the AZ jab, BTW.

conifergate · 21/03/2021 15:18

I had AZ at 3pm yesterday. Also had unsettled stomach overnight, woke up with headache and feeling sore all over but much better this morning. Just feeling tired today. DH had his last night abs slept ok but today has temp of 38 and feels like he has a hangover.

I said to DH this morning it feels like a hangover. I feel dehydrated as well, so thirsty 🥲 I'm drinking loads as well x
ConiferGate · 21/03/2021 15:45
