How long was it between vaccination and feeling grotty?
I usually get a flu vaccine and have no problems, but for some reason I'm a bit jittery. I'm having mine next week so checking I've got migraine meds and stuff ready just in case.

I took paracetamol just before going for jab and kept myself topped up with it every 4 hours (except when sleeping). Tired first evening, so went to bed early. Little shivery the next day, so napped on sofa and again early night. 2nd day woke up absolutely fine. So I really just slept through it. 24ish hours till I felt shivers, only lasted till the paracetamol kicked in again.

I did feel quite spaced out. I thought it was just me, some reaction to being a little anxious about the process. But this week I've heard quite a few people tell me they felt a bit not quite there.

anappleadaykeeps · 20/03/2021 23:54

I had mine 11am Thursday,

I think I actually posted on here 11am Friday on another thread that I felt fine except for sore arm.

3pm Friday, so four hours later I felt terrible - migraine like symptoms, which didn't completely clear until the following Tuesday. Plus weird stomach upset.

Sleeping a lot (when I could get to sleep), helped a bit. Ibuprofen and paracetamol did nothing.

I'm 49

AnExcellentWalker · 20/03/2021 23:59

I had mine today. AZ, I’m allergic to penicillin but I’ll be 40 soon, so not exactly young. Feel feverish (hot & cold) & a bit achey but otherwise fine so far.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 21/03/2021 00:07

I was fine on the day but felt a bit rough the next day and had a slight headache which went away with paracetamol. Of course it could have been unrelated.

MajesticWhine · 21/03/2021 00:22

I felt ill about 12 hours after the jab. And the feeling ill lasted about 24 hours. Achy, tired, and a headache.
I had Pfizer and it was my second. The first dose was similar but not quite as bad.

Willyoujustbequiet · 21/03/2021 00:53

Had the Oxford one. Started to feel rough approx 12 hours after. 3 days in bed with flu symptoms and nosebleeds. My arm is still tender now weeks later.

Midlifephoenix · 21/03/2021 01:39

I got a headache shortly after jab and by the evening felt not great. The next day felt a bit fluey but with medication worked half a day then had enough and went to bed. Was absolutely fine by the next afternoon.

SaskiaRembrandt · 21/03/2021 06:02

I had mine about 10.30am on Friday. By the evening I had a temperature and felt really tired. The temp had gone by the morning, but my arm felt really stiff, and I had that blar feeling you get when you're coming down with something. But by yesterday evening I felt fine again, apart from my arm still being a bit achey.

I'm still getting the second dose. I had the AZ one, and I gather side effects are more likely with the first dose of that and the second dose of the Pfizer.

DarceyDashwood · 21/03/2021 06:19

I had AZ. The next day had a sore arm and felt quite rough. Like a cold without the snottiness. Following day felt like a mild hangover. Had 2 duvet days and took paracetamol and felt better by the third day although arm was still a bit sore. Very happy to have had the jab.

Cookiesandscones · 21/03/2021 06:56

I had mine at 3:30ish yesterday started to feel a bit off about 10pm ish so went to bed, was back awake at 1:30am with a bad headache and been up and down ever since with the headache. My face feels like I have been in a boxing ring but I generally suffer with my sinuses and I am hot to touch but I don’t have a temperature, it’s manageable although I can’t be bothered to get up and do anything

Cookiesandscones · 21/03/2021 07:01

Just to add I am also apparently allergic to penicillin I had a body rash as a small child and have never been prescribed it again

Lulu1919 · 21/03/2021 07:05

Had mine yesterday at 10am
Had heard about various side effects ....(husband had flu like symptoms about 12 hours later and for 24 hours )so I took ibuprofen and tramadol ...I've just woken up and so far feel fine ...not even a sore arm....just taken more pills just to keep any issues at bay !!!

RampantIvy · 21/03/2021 07:09

DH is very allergic to penicillin, but had no reaction at all.

dogsonlead · 21/03/2021 07:10

24 hours for DH

Skigal86 · 21/03/2021 07:20

I had mine at 5.30 on Friday, bit tired that evening (but it had been a busy day!), woke up yesterday morning feeling very achey and got worse all day, but it came in waves, I rather optimistically went out for a walk after lunch and then didn’t move off the sofa for three hours when we got home. Feeling shivery, headache and generally grotty (like a bad hangover) had some paracetamol about 5 and then started to feel better, went to bed early and then this morning I just feel a bit achey in my arms.

whenwewereveryyoung · 21/03/2021 07:24

Had AZ at 5 on Thursday and had two paracetamol before bed. Woke up fine, but then had a thumping headache on Friday. Still headachey on Sunday but it's very manageable with the paracetamol.

Hyppogriff · 21/03/2021 07:29

Jam 10.20 am yesterday. Felt maybe a bit hot at 9pmish. Took one paracetamol before bed . No issues overnight and woke up feeling fine this morning. Very very mild arm ache

secretrugbyfan · 21/03/2021 07:41

Oxford AZ jab at 9am on Friday. Started feeling rough around 6-7pm (I had taken paracetamol as a precaution) Went to bed shivering and sweating with a terrible headache (it felt like someone was trying to push my left eye out of its socket from inside my head!) Got little sleep (having taken 6 paracetamol in total). Finally got up at 7am tried to eat something but couldn't taste it, so I took a Naproxen and went back to bed...carried on sweating with bad headache until 2-3pm ish, then symptoms started to subside at which point I got up, gradually started to feel better...went to bed feeling nearly back to normal, and woke today (Sunday) feeling fine.

newlabelwriter · 21/03/2021 07:45

I felt a bit out of sorts the day after, a bit like I was getting a cold. DH had was in bed for 36 hours with Covid like symptoms (we all had it last year) but is fine now.

newlabelwriter · 21/03/2021 07:46

Oh and Oxford AZ

DorisDay88 · 21/03/2021 07:49

Immediately after having the vaccine I got a chemical taste in my mouth and my lips started tingling and going numb
This lasted about a couple of hours
I started with palpitations then which lasted all night - little sleep but fine the next day, no arm pain at all
Very odd as never usually have anything like this

Katyy · 21/03/2021 07:56

Hi, if you get migraines including sickness make sure you have anti sickness meds ready, I needed them plus paracetamol for 24 hours. Good luck.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 21/03/2021 08:04

Update 23 hours since AZ.

Had jab 9.30am Saturday. Light headed and headache and tired all day

Felt very delirious and light headed from 4pm yesterday. Popped lots paracetamol - every four hours - since 10am

Went to bed early with banging head ache and delirious. Woke 5am with sore arm. Took more pills

Now just tired and sore but less sore arm

Will be popping pills all day. Going for a short walk later

Hoping don't get more worse symptoms later as have been reported by others.

IcelandThree · 21/03/2021 08:06

Had AZ 18 hours ago, no problems so far, just arm slightly sore. I'm 51, not sure if I've had covid before.

I had ice-cream and a bacon sandwich in the evening if anyone wants to try that as a preventative measure Wink

pourmethevino · 21/03/2021 08:35

Has anyone had tummy troubles with the AZ vaccine? I had mine yesterday and started with a pain down my side followed by all day yesterday and through the night with very bad trapped wind but nothing eases it. I also feel as though I've been run over by a bus with a dead arm. Bad headaches, dizziness & nausea. I feel so crappy and I'm never ill off the flue jab 🤔
