Sick of all the continued moaning: oh, why can’t I get it?; oh, but it’s only 90% effective; etc etc.; oh selfish people will stop masks..

Just be happy! It’s great news. Life can resume.

Restaurants, galleries, parties, bars, dinner with friends, holidays: brilliant

I cried when I heard on the radio at lunch! Quite irrational but just happy that there was a bit of good news at last 😀

AppleAndPearss · 09/11/2020 21:48

Me too...I actually cried when I heard the news. It sounds promising 🤞🏼

Dottydoodoo · 09/11/2020 21:48

This news has made me so happy today I feel like I could cry!

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 09/11/2020 21:51

Very hopeful🤞🏾

buttonmoonb4tea · 09/11/2020 21:52

I might be irrational but I'm scared to have it

CaptainMyCaptain · 09/11/2020 21:56

I'll have it when it's available but I'm in the 5th group on the list (over 65) so it will be a long time before I can have it and longer before everyone can get it. I think vulnerable people under 65 are next after me.

But it's still a little way off. What was Jonathan Van Tam's metaphor? You can see a train in the distance but it's only the headlights - something to that effect.

Jessuk86 · 09/11/2020 21:57

Not at all it’s the best news we’ve had since this shit show started x

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2020 21:57

Just be happy! It’s great news. Life can resume.

Well, it kind of can’t. It’s going to be a long while before things change.

Tootsey11 · 09/11/2020 21:57

It hasn't passed stage 3 yet. This news should never have been released until all tests were clear and ready for roll out.

Getting to many people's hopes up. It takes years to get a vaccine, this one has been 120 days in the making.

Tootsey11 · 09/11/2020 22:00

@PurpleDaisies Exactly.

How many numpties will now go out with no masks, no social distancing and no hand washing, just because they've heard there MIGHT be a vaccine. MIGHT be.

Just be happy!

Being realistic makes me happy.

Oly4 · 09/11/2020 22:02

It’s amazing news!!

OrangeBananaFish · 09/11/2020 22:04

YANBU. We all (well most of us) realise that nothing is going to change overnight and we're not suddenly going to be like we were in 2019, but this is the start of the end. Yes we know its going to take a few more months, but we're are getting closer. This is a good thing. It is a step in the right direction.

WouldBeGood · 09/11/2020 22:05

@PurpleDaisies aren’t you a little ray of sunshine

studychick81 · 09/11/2020 22:05

They said we might, might, be able to get back to normal at the end of next spring. That's quite a long time still to go. It still has a way to go.

It's not perfect but I am very happy. DH and I will be the very last of the list I expect, if we get it at all.

Tootsey11 · 09/11/2020 22:05

I am happy, who said I wasn't.

I just won't jump the gun until the people in the know say yep, it has passed all the tests and trials and is safe, and it gives immunity for a long time.

That last bit is the bit they cannot give any certainty on, as they've no idea.

PurpleDaisies · 09/11/2020 22:06

aren’t you a little ray of sunshine

Thank you.

They are just being realistic. I was very encouraged by the news but try to keep a sane head is all people are saying.

WouldBeGood · 09/11/2020 22:10

No, they’re saying doom doom, people won’t social distance/wear masks/ etc etc

I have said nothing of the sort.

You can go back and read my posts.

Probably some won't, there's a lot of dickheads about.
zen1 · 09/11/2020 22:14

Even if the vaccine is (eventually) rolled out, they were still only talking about it allowing us to return to a ‘new normal’ and that they don’t know yet whether it will reduce transmission. It could be years before it’s decided we no longer have to wear masks / socially distance.

WouldBeGood · 09/11/2020 22:18

@zen1 no it won’t, people won’t have it

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 09/11/2020 22:19

Fair enough of people want to stay in and wear masks. But there’s no appetite for a “new normal”
