Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

What is LBC?

BrokenBrit · 08/09/2020 22:01

No idea. Nothing surprises me anymore with the gov, it’s just one disaster, muddle, u-turn and bluff after another. They prob need to bring back the regular briefings at this point, maybe a couple of times a week, so people know what is going on.

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 08/09/2020 22:02

Yep, BBC just said this.... next half hour....

BrokenBrit · 08/09/2020 22:02

@Hippywannabe A talk radio station - Leading Britain’s Conversation.

boys3 · 08/09/2020 22:02

Just announced on Beeb 10 pm news

“Within the next half hour”

Roominmyhouse · 08/09/2020 22:03

BBC news have just said it’s something about social gatherings, I assume a tightening of current guidance?

boys3 · 08/09/2020 22:03

Well that’s at least two of us watching the newsSmile

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 08/09/2020 22:04

Oh good grief. 10:30 at night? Are they hoping we’ve all gone to bed and won’t hear it, or something?

magnarocks · 08/09/2020 22:05

Well I'm gonna have to stay up now... 😴

Hiremee · 08/09/2020 22:05

Odd. I reckon they’ll be reducing it to no more than 6 people from 2 households indoors

Lockdownseperation · 08/09/2020 22:05

I’m predicting no socialising inside unless it’s Pret, a restaurant or a pub. Groups of 100 allowed to meet in Pret.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/09/2020 22:06

This is the sort of time they usually publish Schools guidance!

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 08/09/2020 22:06

10.30?!?!?!

What on earth would be news that they couldn't have told us earlier today.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 08/09/2020 22:07

Well if they’re going to reduce the number of people who can meet indoors, I hope they start enforcing it in pubs

PurpleDaisies · 08/09/2020 22:07

Their communication is abysmal. In what universe is 1030pm a good time for an announcement?

PinkMacaron · 08/09/2020 22:08

This is a bit too slick for the government. Surely they should be announcing it at 2am by carrier pigeon.

Morfin · 08/09/2020 22:08

Just had a last check on here before bed and saw this. Now making tea and waiting.

molifly14 · 08/09/2020 22:08

Do they hope that if they announce it at this time everyone will be in bed so no backlash?!

Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:09

www.lbc.co.uk

This is LBC, its a news programme where callers phone in and have their say ( a bit like a phone in version of mumsnet :)

Ffs was just off to bed

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/09/2020 22:09

full medieval suit of armour to be worn at all times in any towns north of Watford with a either an R or a V in their name.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mummyme87 · 08/09/2020 22:09

Will only be bad news. Good news is given during the day

DracoDormiens · 08/09/2020 22:09

@PinkMacaron 😂😂😂

Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:10

Maybe pubs closing or limiting the number of people meeting inside further. 30 is the law at the moment, 2 households is the guideline, they may change it from a guideline to a law...just guessing really.

FFS......

I agree probably a tightening of socialising rules....without actually closing pubs or restaurants.... and I work in hospitality!

Imo "Eat out to Help out" is one of the biggest fuck ups EVER. I got to work last Friday and it was like walking into a plague pit, if my place (and every other) isnt announced as the centre of an outbreak within the next week I will be fucking amazed.

It was totally irresponsible to have this offer on when we are nowhere near controlling the virus, especially when my boss insisted we over book as "people wont turn up" except they did so SD was utterly impossible. Me and others in our team have chronic conditions that make us at higher risk, our lives were put in danger in order to make a buck.
