Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

How will this work on public transport if we are all supposed to be getting back to work?

Sewfrickinamazeballs · 08/09/2020 22:30

So, go back to the office where you will be with more than 6 people (SD of course), but more than 6 people are now banned. FFS

AuntieStella · 08/09/2020 22:30

The government are concerned about the rise in cases yet the Doncaster races are going ahead this week with approx 20,000 in attendance over the 4 days

As it's usually 15,000 capacity each day, that gives quite a lot of extra space.

And it was billed as an experiment. But if the hypothesis which you sought to test is no longer valid, why run the experiment?

Or will this count as sporting rather than social gathering?

Willowkins · 08/09/2020 22:30

As an alternative, could it be something to do with Brexit?

ConiferGate · 08/09/2020 22:30

Says excludes team sports in an organised Covid way @Bollocksitshappenedagain one to watch this one, there must have been over 250 parents at our local club on Monday night training (not mentioning the sport!!).

@Blue1316 that’ll be Dido Harding and Matt Canhock deciding that one, just like the last hurrah at Cheltenham, then more restrictions the day after

flatwhite99 · 08/09/2020 22:31

WHERE is the announcement?

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:31

JacobReesMogadishu · 08/09/2020 22:31

Here is a blow dried mango stone that looks like Boris. I'm sending it to London to run the country. Is that OK with everyone?

BBC says the change applies to pub. Does this mean only 6 people are allowed in a pub at one time?

windyautumn · 08/09/2020 22:31

No more than 6 anywhere I think...

Coronavirus: Social gatherings of more than six people to be banned in England from Monday news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-social-gatherings-of-more-than-six-people-to-be-banned-in-england-from-monday-12066910

ginsparkles · 08/09/2020 22:32

The guidance was no more than 6, the law was no more than 30. They have now changed the law to match the guidelines to make it simpler and easier for the police to enforce.

Shizzlestix · 08/09/2020 22:32

What happens with large households

Let’s be logical. Different households! If you have 5+ kids (respect, how do you cope!) then one imagines they’re referring to multiple households. Tricky if your 3 dc want a mate each to come round after school and your parents want to visit too!

RunningNinja79 · 08/09/2020 22:32

Was it 30 and now its 6?

Well the other weekend the people who live to the back of me held a wedding reception at their home (its a large property and they are very wealthy). They had 200 guests there apparently. Some of whom were Lords. Although it was OK as they were social distancing according to the local MP (who happens to be Rishi) when he was asked about it.

One rule for one .............

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 08/09/2020 22:32

I'm voting for the mango stone.

@TheSeedsOfADream 😂😂😂

BrieAndChilli · 08/09/2020 22:32

I’m so confused, I thought it was 6 people from different households anyway apart from organised meetings such as sports clubs and scouts?

Lougle · 08/09/2020 22:32

I'm gutted, tbh. My family is 5 and my parents make 7. They are both in need of support. We're going to have to choose who stays behind when we visit.

KitKatastrophe · 08/09/2020 22:32

@AlecTrevelyan006

The barefaced fking cheek of more restrictions on the same day they change the testing procedures because of all the false positives, and near the same time that the IFR/CFR debacle (neither of which have been anywhere in the media I gather, these are massive, massive stories - something is going on) is unfolding genuinely astounds me.
Could you give more detail on how testing is changing?
SallySeven · 08/09/2020 22:32

Monkeytoes: I can't watch Johnson speak. I get uncomfortable!

AuntieStella · 08/09/2020 22:32

BBC version - it's on a number of different media now

BrieAndChilli · 08/09/2020 22:33

@lougle can’t you form a bubble with your parents then it doesn’t matter how many people??
