Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

I thought you weren't allowed more than six indoors anyway. I get that outdoors has changed but how has this affected indoors?

Legoandloldolls · 08/09/2020 22:25

@Jenasaurus

My DS birthday on Saturday, 2 households were meeting up at his which will make 7 people in total!, if it is restricted to 6 people in 2 households we will have to cancel or maybe I go another day to see him. I hope it isnt that as 2 households makes sense as we all mix together anyway, whats the point in saying that the 7th member of the household has to sit in the garage when the other household comes round :)
We are a family of 6... I know who I would leave in the garage if my sister came over 🤣

If capping meet ups to six helps keep schools open then I'm all for it.

SomethingM1ss1ng · 08/09/2020 22:26

@SallySeven

Why they were pushing the let's get back to the office is beyond me.
Apparently to save Pret Hmm
MotherPiglet · 08/09/2020 22:26

No more than 6 inside or out

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 08/09/2020 22:26

This makes Scotland’s covid decisions look practically coherent.

Pomegranatepompom · 08/09/2020 22:27

I am quite fond of Pret.

I’d rather my DC could go to school though.

MrsRobinsonsHandPrints · 08/09/2020 22:27

@boys3

Could be nothing to do with C19.

A short public info film on international law and why it doesn’t really matter

Or back to C19 a quiet admission that trace and test is not quite world beating

So what happens if dh and I send our 2 kids to bed, where they stay for the night, then invite 4 people round for drinks?

Kids and guests don't mix.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:27

So they've reduced the number of people who can meet in the low risk outdoors.
Indoors is the same?

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/09/2020 22:27

As predicted....pubs are staying open Hmm

flatwhite99 · 08/09/2020 22:27

I'm so confused - what are the rules previously?

Where is the announcement ? On LBC ?

Notfeelinggreattoday · 08/09/2020 22:28

Isnt it something to do with the 30 as like you say 6 is guideline or two households and i thought 30 was more for weddings etc bit people seem to be using the 30 for garden parties etc and the media havent helped with the spread of this bu putting 30

ConfusedPanda · 08/09/2020 22:28

I had no idea that wasn't already the rule. Is anyone keeping up?

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/09/2020 22:28

@flatwhite99

What's happening 😱😱😱
Boris: "well... Er.. thank er.. everyone for er.. tuning in.. er. I thought er.. I er and by I I mean er we.. er... Er.. social gatherings er... Of 6 or er er er.. more..."

So on and so on with various hand gestures thrown in, seemingly to celebrate when he manages to string together three words.

MJMG2015 · 08/09/2020 22:28

From the papers today...

It followed reports that ministers are considering tightening restrictions on household gatherings, with Boris Johnson on the verge of slashing the legal limit on private gatherings.

The number of people legally allowed to meet up in private homes could be reduced in England from the current maximum of 30, potentially to as low as six, and subject to fines running into thousands of pounds.

It is not expected the change would cover venues such as pubs, which have 'Covid Secure' measures in place.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:28

How do I watch this? No link on bbc

SoPanny · 08/09/2020 22:28

@SchrodingersUnicorn

I predict they are closing the pubs. That's why its a 10.30 announcement, so Boris can go for a last pint first.
No, that’ll be Scotland on Thursday
ekidmxcl · 08/09/2020 22:29

My DD was crammed shoulder to shoulder in one room with EIGHTY other students today!!!!!
I'm not sure how announcements can make any difference with craxy decisions like this taking place. It's OK though because all those 80 are in her bubble. Which is like a magic thing made of rainbow dust.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:29

What are people watching

SheepandCow · 08/09/2020 22:29

No more than six indoors.
What happens with large households and HMOs and refuges and the like? Those poor people are just stuck being at greater risk presumably.

Shizzlestix · 08/09/2020 22:29

Bonkers. I’m teaching 30 per class, plus an occasional TA, plus random poppers in (head, head of department etc). Utter bonkers.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 08/09/2020 22:29

@Pyong thats something you need to take up with your boss , other places ran the scheme and managed to still do SD as i went to a few and they were well ran and within guidelines

Doje · 08/09/2020 22:30

It's not that difference though is it? Isn't it currently 2 families, or up to 6 people outside?
