Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

Sky news are saying no more than 30 people can legally gather in a England from Monday."
Isnt that how it is currently? Unless you're spending money of course.

Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:17

My DS birthday on Saturday, 2 households were meeting up at his which will make 7 people in total!, if it is restricted to 6 people in 2 households we will have to cancel or maybe I go another day to see him. I hope it isnt that as 2 households makes sense as we all mix together anyway, whats the point in saying that the 7th member of the household has to sit in the garage when the other household comes round :)

Sorry from 30 to six

Legoandloldolls · 08/09/2020 22:17

@turnthebiglightoff

No more than 6 people together has been announced by Sky on Twitter.
How many mixed households is that?

I am confused on the rules now.

SallySeven · 08/09/2020 22:17

Groups of 100 in Pret did make me laugh ruefully.

MakeLemonade · 08/09/2020 22:18

It’s on metro front page. Safe Six - no more than six indoors or outside.

Wasn’t it six anyway??

CloudPop · 08/09/2020 22:18

@PyongyangKipperbang

FFS......

I agree probably a tightening of socialising rules....without actually closing pubs or restaurants.... and I work in hospitality!

Imo "Eat out to Help out" is one of the biggest fuck ups EVER. I got to work last Friday and it was like walking into a plague pit, if my place (and every other) isnt announced as the centre of an outbreak within the next week I will be fucking amazed.

It was totally irresponsible to have this offer on when we are nowhere near controlling the virus, especially when my boss insisted we over book as "people wont turn up" except they did so SD was utterly impossible. Me and others in our team have chronic conditions that make us at higher risk, our lives were put in danger in order to make a buck.

Eat out to help out worked very well near me. All restaurants had good social distancing and sanitisation etc. Got a lot of places up and running again in a responsible way.
Bollocksitshappenedagain · 08/09/2020 22:18

Social Gatherings of more than 6 banned from Monday - inside and out!

Floralbean · 08/09/2020 22:19

That's your bosses fault Confused. Here they took an appropriate amount of bookings, turned people away who hadn't booked, and it was a welcome boost with adequate social distancing in place. Or can we not have nice things because your boss is incompetent and blaming the government is easier?

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 08/09/2020 22:19

Theres definitely more than ⁶ in a class...or at the school gates...

YummyJamDoughnut · 08/09/2020 22:19

@Legoandloldolls

Worrying. I didnt think the numbers would rise again as steeply as they have. What with all the measures we now have in place that wasnt around in March. 😭 Please let's at least get a full month at school as I need a sanity break
Don't forget that we have no real idea how many people had the virus in March; IIRC, they were barely testing anybody in the community. We have no idea if we are in a better place than we were in March/April re: infections. Of course, we are in a worse place than we were in August, which is worrying.

SchrodingersUnicorn · 08/09/2020 22:20

I predict they are closing the pubs. That's why its a 10.30 announcement, so Boris can go for a last pint first.

Gazelda · 08/09/2020 22:20

@Jenasaurus

www.lbc.co.uk

This is LBC, its a news programme where callers phone in and have their say ( a bit like a phone in version of mumsnet :)

😂😂😂 bloody accurate description at times!
PineappleUpsideDownCake · 08/09/2020 22:20

We let the kids play together after school as they'd been at school together all day anyway...

ConiferGate · 08/09/2020 22:20

Does the new six include sports?? This will be a big blow to a lot of clubs

boys3 · 08/09/2020 22:20

Could be nothing to do with C19.

A short public info film on international law and why it doesn’t really matter

Or back to C19 a quiet admission that trace and test is not quite world beating

Howslifenow · 08/09/2020 22:20

News flash - Boris just had the biggest turd

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/09/2020 22:21

This government is exactly like the person leading it.
Bumbling and plodding about with its head up its own arse in a slightly confused and disheveled way. They should all piss off to a tent in a farmer's field somewhere remote.

One last call for alcohol
SallySeven · 08/09/2020 22:21

The cafes I've been too have been trying really hard on social distancing and cleanliness.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2020 22:21

But 33 in a classroom is fine Shock

I wouldn't count on it. We have managed 2 days!
