Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

I agree @Mummyme87 Only put out bad news when people are going to bed!

Mortgagehelp2020 · 08/09/2020 22:11

Have I missed anything? Just put in on now as saw this

Reddog1 · 08/09/2020 22:11

Probably social gatherings. Spikes are being created because daft people are having their aunties, nans, mates round, like that idiot who flew in from Ibiza then held a house party, infecting at least 8 guests.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/09/2020 22:12

No smiling at others on and all talking must be done at less than 40dB

Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:12

The thing is a message at this time of night, wont be seen by everyone so how can it be enforced if people dont know about it.

Maybe they are finally giving up on the whole social distancing idea.... the same as everyone else that went food shopping on Saturday morning. (Survival of the fittest and all that!!)

LoveNote · 08/09/2020 22:12

slippery slope back down to full lockdown.........

tunnocksreturns2019 · 08/09/2020 22:13

Think I’ll go to bed and look forward to no doubt lovely news in the morning.

Concerned7777 · 08/09/2020 22:13

@Hiremee

Odd. I reckon they’ll be reducing it to no more than 6 people from 2 households indoors
Bit shit when you're already a household of 5/6 (or higher) 😏
Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:13

If you were in the Government what would you change? Just wondering if anyone will guess correctly. I am wondering if it will be a change to those who request tests as they have a limited capacity untilt he new lab contract which starts in a fortnight.

So will it be on the BBC do we think?
I predict hands face knees and toes again.

Vinoonasunnyday · 08/09/2020 22:14

Thought it was 6 people anyway🤷‍♀️

ConiferGate · 08/09/2020 22:14

An FT journalist is trailing another potential resignation on Twitter as well, saw a comment about a possible 10.30 embargo? Maybe there is some other news coming out and govt seeking to suppress it, what else explains announcements at that time?

LoveNote · 08/09/2020 22:14

i'm sure it will be relayed on the news tomorrow

they must be still sat in parliament mulling this, whatever it is, over

Willbob · 08/09/2020 22:14

Sky news are saying no more than 30 people can legally gather in a England from Monday. Not really seen the news all day so nit sure if this is it?

amieejust · 08/09/2020 22:15

If it was really bad news it would probably have been on earlier.

Probably clamping down on indoors social gatherings.

Or closing schools, gyms and the hospitality sector.

Onceuponatimethen · 08/09/2020 22:15

Oh nooooo can’t be doing with more announcements! Can’t watch!!

ddl1 · 08/09/2020 22:15

'Odd. I reckon they’ll be reducing it to no more than 6 people from 2 households indoors'

I thought it already was, except for very special occasions like a wedding or funeral?

JacobReesMogadishu · 08/09/2020 22:15

It’s not going to be good.

Figgygal · 08/09/2020 22:15

Yup reducing permitted groupings to 6 people According to sky news

YummyJamDoughnut · 08/09/2020 22:16

@Jenasaurus

Maybe pubs closing or limiting the number of people meeting inside further. 30 is the law at the moment, 2 households is the guideline, they may change it from a guideline to a law...just guessing really.
Does anyone know if this is going to be on BBC or just LBC? I can't be arsed to move and am in front of TV on mobile!
turnthebiglightoff · 08/09/2020 22:16

No more than 6 people together has been announced by Sky on Twitter.

Legoandloldolls · 08/09/2020 22:16

Worrying. I didnt think the numbers would rise again as steeply as they have. What with all the measures we now have in place that wasnt around in March.
😭
Please let's at least get a full month at school as I need a sanity break

OhioOhioOhio · 08/09/2020 22:16

Omg. What now?

tunnocksreturns2019 · 08/09/2020 22:16

Maybe Brexit is cancelled and Covid vaccine ready for use. Sorry. Dreaming already.
