No vaccine please

I have decided not to have the vaccine for coronavirus when it is rolled out. I don’t trust the government and will not be used as a pilot. It seems this will be a rushed vaccine (tested-yes) but we will not know the long term side effects until years down the line. I will politely decline the vaccine until I feel fully informed. Anyone else declining it?

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:56

I’m sure there will be more people who feel the same. I’m just one person. I’ve had all my other vaccinations. I have chosen not have a brand new vaccine. Some are suggesting you can get corona twice. The vaccine needs to be developed properly and not rushed up

"I respect others wishes though regarding their choice to not have it."
Not really worked out what herd immunity means yet, have you?

worriedmama16 · 17/04/2020 21:57

I've been wondering about swine flu!
I never had it and certainly didn't have a vaccine. What happened??

Laniakea · 17/04/2020 21:57

I don’t think there’s much risk of Joe Bloggs off the street being forcibly vaccinated any time soon. Even if they produce quickly it’ll be an age before it’s offered to anyone beyond HCPs, other keyworkers, the extremely vulnerable, then the elderly.

I guess you can hypothetically decline something that doesn’t exist if you want to though.

indemMUND · 17/04/2020 21:57

Off you pop OP. Talk about jumping the shark.

bellinisurge · 17/04/2020 21:57

@worriedmama16 , it was aliens, remember ConfusedGrinHmm

Hollie089 · 17/04/2020 21:57

If we can ensure that people without the vaccine (unless for genuine medical reasons) are not allowed in schools and large work places such as hospitals, then yes, it should be optional.

Build up your immune system indeed Hmm

whenwillthemadnessend · 17/04/2020 21:57

This is probably the most ridiculous thread on CV so far.

As an asthmatic I'll take me chances in a vaccine

LastTrainEast · 17/04/2020 21:59

"I think it was man made and perhaps some plan behind it" ah I thought as much. Another escapee from the youtube cults.

ASDA are doing a special offer on tinfoil this week if you're running low.

TheGinGenie · 17/04/2020 22:00

No. One of the long term side effects from Covid 19 is death so I'd rather have the vaccine thanks.

Snowflakes1122 · 17/04/2020 22:01

bellinisurge so you want to force vaccines on people? There is no need to be condescending by the way Biscuit

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 22:01

I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all. Simply a view. Your view is different and I respect that.

Mamamia456 · 17/04/2020 22:01

Scienceisgreat - Good job we don't all think like you. If it wasn't for us Guinea pigs (yes I have been one for cancer treatment) we wouldn't make any advances in treatment of diseases.

PestymcPestFace · 17/04/2020 22:02

How are you going to be financing this several years of shielding?

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 22:02

Mamamia456 - but I have all my other immunisations.

OP posts:
MigginsMs · 17/04/2020 22:03

We will have it same as we had the swine flu one

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2020 22:04

Even if the development is accelerated , enough doses for all the people who need it most plus others that do want it won't be available quickly.

So don't worry, OP, it's not likely you'll put be in a position where you need to decline it.

I’m sceptical about this whole virus thing. I think it was man made and perhaps some plan behind it. I’m not big on believing conspiracy theory’s but there is something dodgy about this virus and how it was all exposed etc therefore I raised an eyebrow to the vaccine

For someone with your username you seem remarkably ignorant of what actual scientists know about this, and also how to assess the quality of your sources.
You seem to have swallowed some conspiracy theories hook, line and sinker.

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 22:05

DoNt be fooled by my user name @ErrolTheDragon lol I’m sure you’re not a dragon!!

OP posts:
worriedmama16 · 17/04/2020 22:07

Bellini what's your problem? I genuinely don't remember what happened to stop the swine flu panic and certainly can't remember hearing about a vaccine?? Is that a crime??

FuckPolitenessSSDGM · 17/04/2020 22:07

Given OPs name I'm guessing this is a post designed to wind people up. Antivaxers are morons.

OldPeculier · 17/04/2020 22:08

I’m sure there will be more people who feel the same

Well from a person that’s held more hands than I care to count, off you fuck and find them OP and let everyone else get on with this nightmare without having to deal with anymore stupid than we have to.

Mummoomoocow · 17/04/2020 22:10

OP keep your skeptical and questioning mind alive. I too am not definite in my decision to vaccinate in this specific case, however it is precisely because of the fact that we don't know what the vaccine might look like yet. We don't know how many people will be tested on, for how long and with what success rate it will be released to public use.

But. I am not deciding one way or another right in this moment because there is not enough information at this time. There will be however in a year or two, around the time I expect a vaccine may begin its rounds.

Be questioning OP but seek scientific factual answers and not just other people that question without seeing evidence themselves.

ivykaty44 · 17/04/2020 22:10

What swine flu vaccine?
I didn’t have swine flu (cared for dd2 who did) and never had vaccine

Starlightstarbright1 · 17/04/2020 22:10

When the swine flu was around my Ds was eligible . My Hv said she couldn’t give me any advice as she hadn’t been on the course so could give no advice.

I will reserve judgment at this point

CaroleFuckinBaskin · 17/04/2020 22:10

I don't think I will have a vaccine because I'm almost 100% sure I have had Covid 19? So having a vaccine would be a pointless risk wouldn't it?

I'm not anti-vax in any way by the way, my kids have had all of theirs and I have had a flu jab for the last couple of years or so, all to protect others as well as us.
