I have decided not to have the vaccine for coronavirus when it is rolled out. I don’t trust the government and will not be used as a pilot. It seems this will be a rushed vaccine (tested-yes) but we will not know the long term side effects until years down the line. I will politely decline the vaccine until I feel fully informed. Anyone else declining it?

Currently I perceive the risk from COVID 19 to be significantly higher than the risk of vaccine harm. I understand your feelings though.

EYProvider · 17/04/2020 21:42

Good job no one said that about the swine flu vaccine or we’d still all be suffering from that 10 years on.

The swine flu vaccine was developed and administered within a few months and it eradicated the disease. No reason to believe that this won’t be the same.

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:43

I’d rather build my immune system up in preparation and shield myself as long as possible. I will wait it out and make an informed choice about the vaccine but I’m highly likely not to have it.

I'm not having it either, but you'll be flamed saying that on here

CathyandHeathcliff · 17/04/2020 21:45

I made a thread about this earlier.
I’m not anti vaxx, but I don’t want this. It seems a huge rush and I’m not sure I’ll even be eligible for it. I’m not in the vulnerable category and I’m not elderly.

CathyandHeathcliff · 17/04/2020 21:45

I also believe I’ve already had it, about 4 weeks ago now.

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:46

I’m sceptical about this whole virus thing. I think it was man made and perhaps some plan behind it. I’m not big on believing conspiracy theory’s but there is something dodgy about this virus and how it was all exposed etc therefore I raised an eyebrow to the vaccine

If/when there is a vaccine it will take years to vaccinate everyone. Initially it would only be offered to those with underlying conditions and then it will be done by DOB, oldest first so you (assuming you are youngish with no underlying conditions) will have a long time to think about it.

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:47

@Millicent10. Yes true. I guess I can sit back and see how it affects those groups first.

cremuel · 17/04/2020 21:49

Remember when you’re deciding whether or not to have the vaccine that you’re not just deciding for yourself but for any vulnerable person you may pass it on to if you get it after refusing to be vaccinated. Vaccination is not just about personal choice, it’s about taking responsibility for your role in public health and to the wellbeing of those around you.

KitchenConfidential · 17/04/2020 21:50

Then I hope you’re going to self isolate from now until forever ;)

cremuel · 17/04/2020 21:50

Nice ironic name, scienceisgreat. Scientists have clearly demonstrated that it is not manmade, but on you go with your anti-scientific scaremongering.

bellinisurge · 17/04/2020 21:50

Don't worry, op, as usual anti vaxxers like you can rely on other people to do the heavy lifting and then get the benefit while criticising us all.

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:51

The vaccine isn’t mandatory though. Freedom and choice I believe in.

OP posts:
DogInATent · 17/04/2020 21:52

I'm sceptical about people that claim to be able to "build their immune system".

What do you think "they" are planning with this vaccine?

(now if you said you were suspicious of the proposed contact tracing smartphone app, that I could begin to agree with)

chinam · 17/04/2020 21:52

I will be sticking both arms out for the vaccine when it is developed.

bellinisurge · 17/04/2020 21:52

Yes and you can ignore all the self isolating restrictions too. Those were set up by lizard people to control our minds.

Bargebill19 · 17/04/2020 21:53

I’m sitting on the fence awaiting more information. I would also like to see antibody testing first, or at least offered as an alternative.

ofwarren · 17/04/2020 21:54

We don't know if it's going to be mandatory or not. They may say you can't go to certain places such as schools if you don't have it.
I'm definitely going through be having it. My whole family will be stuck inside until herd immunity is created.

slipperywhensparticus · 17/04/2020 21:54

Yes you can have he freedom to choose but dont put others at risk and the more that dont get vaccinated the more we risk not eradicating it 🖖

Scienceisgreat76 · 17/04/2020 21:54

I don’t always trust what I see/hear. Who knows what this plan is in regards to the vaccine. I just don’t want to be a guinea pig right now.

OP posts:
justanotherneighinparadise · 17/04/2020 21:54

You’ll be lucky if we ever get one. You’re being ridiculous.

Snowflakes1122 · 17/04/2020 21:54

I will have it and my children will have it. No doubts for us personally, as my son is vulnerable. I respect others wishes though regarding their choice to not have it.

Scienceisgreat76 that's ok. We and our families will take the risk so that you don't have to. You''ll be safe anyway because we did.
