I didn’t say that coeliacs qualify for a food box . Just posted info for pp in case she hadn’t seen that coeliacs can be at higher risk than non coeliacs. I wasn’t referring to the food boxes , or people at extreme risk.

1forsorrow · 30/03/2020 15:00

alloutoffucks, hopefully we will be OK with the Morrisons boxes. I think they are a great idea, hope I'm proved right when they arrive. I have some storecupboard stuff so if I can keep getting the boxes we should be OK. I've got one coming today and the next one is Tuesday next week.

Butterfly02 · 30/03/2020 15:02

@BiBiBirdie if you ring your gp from today they will add forgotten people to the list my dc were missed and the two reasons I was told were one shared care with the hospital with hospital not gp prescribing medication and the system doesn't seem to have picked up all children.
You can also self register online one of the questions is do you have any dietary requirements.

mochojoes · 30/03/2020 15:02

@1forsorrow no i haven't so thank you, forgot about trying Morrison's (there isn't any near us).

okiedokieme · 30/03/2020 15:05

Our council is delivering to a wider group who are in need but you have to call them, they also have gas and electric top ups, if you genuinely need help it's there but it's being allocated on having ordinary managed asthma for example

viques · 30/03/2020 15:05

5 eggs ? that's a bit random? Are they taking one egg out of five boxes and making up another one?

Seriously, congratulations to all the people involved in organising the collation of food, the sorting out of it and the distribution. I hope it makes a huge difference to the people who are shielding. And what a great idea to put in a bunch of daffodils. Inspired.

[Awaiting Xenia's moan about people getting free daffodils, no one gives her free daffodils, she's paid enough tax over the years to fund a battleship but has she had free daffodils. hell no, not even a bulb]

Actually MN we could help out here. Maybe we could all give her a free daffodil when she has a little moan.

Daffodil
bobstersmum · 30/03/2020 15:05

Since I last posted I have contacted adult social care at my in laws local council (in Wales) I have registered them and they will get a food parcel directly from their local sources. So anyone not getting one who thinks you qualify or need one, definitely worth ringing. For reference though, both of my in laws are on the shielding list, but were not going to get one directly from government as its only England as far as I'm aware!

1forsorrow · 30/03/2020 15:06

mochojoes I think DHL are delivering the Morrisons boxes so don't worry if there isn't a local one. It shows how bored I am that I am getting excited about what I am going to get in my box. Feels like Christmas. I'm hoping for some fresh milk and bread because I'm very low on them, some fresh meat would be nice. I'm OK for tea bags and loo rolls.

1forsorrow · 30/03/2020 15:07

bobstersmum, well done. One less thing for you to worry about.

JamesBlonde1 · 30/03/2020 15:08

Good grief, the first response. Some people are professional moaners and complain for a living. We all know one.....

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/03/2020 15:10

[Awaiting Xenia's moan about people getting free daffodils, no one gives her free daffodils, she's paid enough tax over the years to fund a battleship but has she had free daffodils. hell no, not even a bulb]

LOL!

alloutoffucks · 30/03/2020 15:17

@mochojoes They only asked if you want a food parcel or need personal care. But they will be ironing out the details. I suspect the priority is to get food out so everyone has something and they have the personal care they need, and sort out the details in the upcoming weeks. I know not everyone asks for a food parcel.

1forsorrow · 30/03/2020 15:19

Very impressed with Morrisons box. I got
Bread
1 ltr Cravendale milk
butter
fresh tomato and basil pasta sauce
bacon
sausage
steak mince
chicken breasts
2 tins soup
1 tin baked beans
packet of microwave rice
pasta
potatoes
onions
broccoli
and peppers, red yellow and green.
All well packed with ice packs to keep it cool.

I'm really pleased with it and definitely feel we will cope for the coming week.

1forsorrow · 30/03/2020 15:20

I'm not usually a Morrisons shopper, I have Lidl, Aldi, Sainsburys and Asda all closer but I have to say I am really impressed with what they are doing.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 30/03/2020 15:23

"thank those of us who pay thousands in income tax and will have massive tax hikes next year to pay for it even though we are getting nothing now in terms of support."
*
Xenia* I'm sure you didn't mean to make yourself look like a begrudging, self centred prick, so you may want to rephrase that, so people don't think you are?

I prefer it when you stick to advising women to earn ten times their male partners' salary. (I actually do like and approve of this, I'm not just saying that!)

JustOneSquareofDarkChocolate · 30/03/2020 15:27

I'm so thrilled this worked. I'm one of the people working very very behind the scenes (on the data) but we never get told of the results. This has made my day. Back to work now!

WaitroseIsMySpiritualHome · 30/03/2020 15:27

Brilliant.

Show me any other country that has been so quick to help the people who most need it. For once, we're doing something right.

I, for one, am DELIGHTED to see my tax going on something so very needed. And as for the flowers on the boxes - lovey.

Please all of you enjoy your boxes

OrganTransplant123 · 30/03/2020 15:27

I didn’t request a food parcel but am still waiting for news on delivery slots. We’ve been able to get some stuff from a local shop but we’re running low. Has anyone any idea when the supermarkets are meant to get the shielding group list??

Haffiana · 30/03/2020 15:30

Whats with all the fig rolls? Grin

BiBiBirdie · 30/03/2020 15:31

@GingerScallop considering we didn't receive the vulnerable/shielding letter and we are on the list who should according to the one listed upthread, I very much doubt anything is coming.

JustOneSquareofDarkChocolate · 30/03/2020 15:31

@OrganTransplant123 you need to go to the website of your chosen supermarket, follow the link to the gov..uk and then CONSENT to the government giving your details to the supermarket. The fact that you are vulnerable is confidential information so it won't be shared with the supermarket (or any other non government body) without your consent.

alloutoffucks · 30/03/2020 15:33

@Haffiana Great if you are prone to constipation, which fairly immobile people are. I know there are people who are extremely vulnerable who are mobile, but some will be fairly immobile.

Bamboo15 · 30/03/2020 15:34

Brilliant!

alloutoffucks · 30/03/2020 15:41

@BiBiBirdie Contact your GP. The records relied on your GP giving the correct information.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 30/03/2020 15:43

That's a lovely thing to do, we don't need one as can get out to the shops but it's brilliant for those who can't!
