Hamas says ready to release all Israeli captives

Reported in Al Jazeera:

The Palestinian group says that, in order to end Israel’s war on Gaza and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave, it is ready to release all Israeli captives – both those who are living and dead – according to the exchange plan outlined in Trump’s proposal.

“In this context, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement,” Hamas said in a statement shared on Telegram.

It also said it agrees to hand over the administration of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian technocrats, “based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support”.

“Other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal regarding the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are connected to a unified national position and relevant international laws and resolutions,” Hamas said.

They “will be addressed through a comprehensive Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate and contribute responsibly”.

Yes I mean if we want to talk about 'dehumanising' I think that is a far better example.

It's really not.

Me calling protesters rabid is more dehumanising than actual terrorists parading hostages and even bodies in coffins about while a mob cheers?! Riiiight.

Gosh that went off on a tangent.

You appear to have different levels of empathy you apply depending on the religion and skin colour of the victim.

Quite a worrying trait tbh.

How can you accuse me of 'going off on a tangent' then suggest <by going off on a tangent> that i have empathy depending on religion or skin colour?

To clarify, you said that to use 'rabid' describing protesters was 'dehumanising', I said parading hostages was what I would call dehumanising. You said not and have now brought skin colour and religion into it Confused.

Protesters often behave like a rabid rabble, hostages do not. I dont have any worrying traits thanks.

Some would feel Israel are the terrorists. Especially given the number of children they have killed, starved and maimed.

I'm just reading that Scottish flotilla member, Yvonne Ridley is missing after being imprisoned illegally. Others on the flotilla are saying Israel were particularly brutal toward her.

Doesn't sound good at all.

This post on Yvonne

Thats very worrying that she went missing on the transfer
Perhaps she was taken to a hospital as she was denied her medication whilst in prison
Trying to be positive here, let’s hope and pray she is well
note- There have been no updates on her whereabouts from Israel ( that I can find)

There seems to be very little information. I found this, however.

She was also on hunger strike. Not sure how long she chose to not eat but maybe ill and transferred to a hospital. They have so many of these protesters put themselves in the way whilst the war is hopefully coming to an end and naturally other people might be needing attention.

EasternStandard · 06/10/2025 09:29

Listening to two commentators this morning, closer to the negotiations in Egypt it’s sounding a bit more optimistic.

Gloriia · 06/10/2025 09:50

I hope Ridley is ok.

That said this is a journalist who snuck into Afghanistan and who was then surprised to be captured by the Taliban, who released her after a few days. She does have form for reckless behaviour.

The IDF won't have harmed her. I hope she hasn't done something to put herself and others in danger.

She was imprisoned whilst breaking no law. She didn't enter Israel illegally, they were taking aid to Gaza. (You can pretend there was no aid like Israel have but they also said George Galloway was apart of Hamas and on the ships 🙄😂)

If Israel had let them if would have made people question if they were blockading aid and starving babies but by disrupting and seizing the flotilla they've allowed no doubt.

'The IDF won't have harmed her'

I mean Israel's leading human rights charity disagree.

Beatings, refusing medication, food, forcing prisoners to drink from the toilet, overcrowding, infections, infestations are commonplace.

If I was an Israeli I'd be worried that one day I could be subjected to the same treatment. Not pretending it doesn't happen because it's happening to someone else.

Gloriia · 06/10/2025 11:22

'Robbie Sabel, an international law expert and former legal adviser to the Israeli foreign ministry, said states generally do not have the right to seize ships in international waters, though there are exceptions, including during armed conflict'
from this which has arguments for and against.

It is dangerous, the flotilla trippers are interfering and attention seeking for themselves whilst the attention should be on a peace process.

I'd take any allegations of bed bugs and lumpy mattresses from Greta with a pinch of salt. We can only hope that Ridley hasn't gone rogue and is well and protected somewhere.

LakesLovely123 · 06/10/2025 11:39

Gosh it sounds pretty awful. I've just read this, taken from a news article:

Lubna Tuma, legal counsel with Adalah, said the detainees faced conditions that “reflect the wider system of abuse faced by Palestinian prisoners”.

“Numerous activists started the administrative procedure without having a legal counsel,” Tuma said, adding that many were kept in small rooms around “three metres wide”.

She said detainees were handcuffed “from behind for more than five hours” and denied food, water and medical care.

“When we asked if they saw a doctor or received any medical treatment, they said no one saw them,” she added.

Tuma also said activists described being insulted and mocked, adding that women, particularly those wearing hijab, were “treated much more harshly” and some were “prohibited from wearing the hijab or praying”.

In a statement, the Global Sumud Flotilla said: “This is not an isolated case, it exposes the same methods routinely used against Palestinians under occupation: humiliation, deprivation, and collective punishment.”

And still no news on Yvonne Ridley. So strange. How can a pensioner just go missing enroute to deportation?

They weren’t in the way in International Waters.
Agree let’s hope she’s in hospital although why havent Israel confirmed that

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/oct/06/gaza-flotilla-members-allege-beatings-and-insults-in-israeli-detention

There's this article in the guardian.

States:

'Israel’s foreign ministry has dismissed all claims of mistreatment of members of the flotilla as “brazen lies”, posting on X on Sunday evening: “All the detainees’ legal rights are fully upheld.”

The national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has said he was “proud” of the way staff behaved at Ketziot. He said in a statement on the activists: “They should get a good feel for the conditions in Ketziot prison and think twice before they approach Israel again.”

Could so with their foreign ministry making sure they're saying the same as their security minister. It's rather conflicting.

Still nothing on Yvonne. Her family must be beside themselves.

In what could be interpreted as obvious contempt for a readers intelligence, there is (and always is) a disparity between what the Israeli Government says to the International press.

On the flotilla they're telling the international press "No we are not abusing the flotilla activists, how dare you say that?"

Versus the Hebrew press where the abuse is reported and people like Gvir say they're proud if it. I guess in their arrogance the Israeli government doesn't know that translation apps exist.....

This is concerning

Hamas has demanded the release of captured terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre, sources have said.

The terror group has reportedly requested that “Nukhba fighters”, the elite special forces unit who led the massacre, be added to the list of currently imprisoned Palestinians slated for release in exchange for the Israeli hostages.

The demand risks scuppering any chance of a deal.

It might not even be true. There's currently a lot of disinformation and psychological warfare happening. Yesterday Al Arabiya a Saudi paper reported that Hamas had agreed to disarm, this was refuted by a Hamas spokesman less than an hour later.

There a lot of people both in Israel (Netanyahu and Gvir), Palestine (inter faction fighting esp with West Bank parties) and America (Senators like Lindsay Graham) who do not want a ceasefire.

I totally agree.
The only ones who will ever know the truth and any of this are the negotiating teams.

I sorry think they should be able to negotiate etc a bit of privacy tbh. We shouldn't be privy to it, however interesting it is.

Agree, it's such a delicate situation. Leaks do not help the people suffering the most right now and erode the already limited trust.
