Hamas says ready to release all Israeli captives

Reported in Al Jazeera:

The Palestinian group says that, in order to end Israel’s war on Gaza and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave, it is ready to release all Israeli captives – both those who are living and dead – according to the exchange plan outlined in Trump’s proposal.

“In this context, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement,” Hamas said in a statement shared on Telegram.

It also said it agrees to hand over the administration of Gaza to an independent body of Palestinian technocrats, “based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support”.

“Other issues mentioned in President Trump’s proposal regarding the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are connected to a unified national position and relevant international laws and resolutions,” Hamas said.

They “will be addressed through a comprehensive Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate and contribute responsibly”.

I suppose it depends on the location of the hostages
If it’s outside the withdrawal line Hamas may not agree if there isn’t safe passage

The last handover of hostages was hindered by their location

The first withdrawal line isn’t very far from where the IDF have advanced to. I think they would just be moving away from Gaza city as would no longer be looking to attack Gaza city, as long as the hostages get released.

As long as they can. I’m concerned with four more hospitals shut down in Gaza in September where are all the deceased hostages ?

Time will tell I just hope logistically this can work

Twiglets1 · 05/10/2025 06:09

Yes it’s a concern @DrPrunesqualer

It’s also a concern whether Hamas actually will release the hostages once the IDF have moved to the first withdrawal line.

Sigh … we just got to hope things go smoothly over the next few days re moving towards long term peace.

Well, she says she is.

Not just her there's an interview with another of the flotilla hostages who had been transferred out. Israel doesn't really have the best track record with prisoners. Most children they keep in prisons report that they've been sexually abused. Children. I can send the articles it you like...

It’s not just Greta that’s saying she’s being abused @Uggbootsforever so much as those that have now been released
Plus the legal team in Israel who are looking after them

But it’s those that have been released that have both experienced the abuse and witnessed it that adds weight to the accusation

Sallysails · 05/10/2025 13:07

I saw the pictures of the remaining hostages in the papers today. Fingers crossed they are released soon. Heart breaking.

kirinm · 05/10/2025 13:07

And Israel continue to murder Palestinians.

I don't think the terrorists have agreed to anything yet have they so therefore the conflict continues. Blame hamas.

Do you think the IDF will sit twiddling their thumbs whilst the terrorists are given the time and space ro escape/hide/build more tunnels/move hostages?

DrPrunesqualer · 05/10/2025 14:59

According to recent updates in the Guardian
Hamas have agreed to release all hostages
( Trump has already asked Israel to stop all attacks on Gaza which has not happened )

Yes they have agreed to release all the hostages dead & alive (though are also saying they don’t know where some of the bodies are).

What they haven’t agreed yet is the positions the IDF will withdraw to. Israel have agreed to withdraw to the phase 1 position on the peace plan map & are doing so now I think - but Hamas hasn’t confirmed that is acceptable to them.

If they can agree on this - hopefully soon - then the fighting should stop & the hostages can be safely moved into position.

Once the hostages are recovered then the IDF should withdraw further. That’s the plan anyway but this is what is being discussed in Egypt today or tomorrow.

Not knowing where some of the bodies are is a real worry

If they were kept in some hospitals that no longer exist theoretically they could be under rubble. This is my concern as just to get to the first stage could be impossible
Appreciate im sounding pessimistic but I think this could be a real barrier to moving forward

Hamas have however said they will release them all …so hopefully

They’ve agreed to release the hostages and Trump asked that Israel stop immediately. Unsurprisingly they haven’t.

To be fair Trump also asked Hamas to agree to the first withdrawal line and they haven’t.

Some would feel Israel are the terrorists. Especially given the number of children they have killed, starved and maimed.

I'm just reading that Scottish flotilla member, Yvonne Ridley is missing after being imprisoned illegally. Others on the flotilla are saying Israel were particularly brutal toward her.

Doesn't sound good at all.

The only people who 'feel Israel are the terrorists' are the rabid keffiyeh wearers and placard wavers we see on the so called protests. Many have no clue what they are protesting about, one bloke on the news kept saying 'you tell me' when he was asked why he was there 🙄.

Most intelligent people know this is a horrific conflict where innocent Israelis and gazans have been killed. Blame the actual terrorists, hamas.

GinaDav · 05/10/2025 17:10

I blame the people dropping the bombs on innocent civilians.

You tell me 😂

I know we’re not allowed to laugh on these threads but honestly what a dimwit.

Meanwhile over in Trump Towers there are complaints that Netanyahu is always "so negative".

"Bibi told Trump this is nothing to celebrate, and that it doesn't mean anything," an official with knowledge of the call told Axios, who said the president responded: "I don't know why you're always so f*ing negative. This is a win. Take it."

I couldn't help but relate, which isn't a sentence I ever thought I would say about Trump.

No. Israel have been rather open about how they treat Palestinians. Anyone with a shred of morality can't laugh at the thought of innocent children being slaughtered and starved.

The UN call it a genocide. It's a genocide. Human rights organisations all over the globe are calling it a genocide.

We see Israel announcing the bombs they're dropping. We see them proudly put up pictures of the destruction they've caused. We see the videos of children being burnt alive. We see their emancipated bodies. We see them injured, maimed. Nobody is that naive to innocently pretend this isn't happening.

NototerrorismIntheUK · 05/10/2025 17:32

I hope they don't parade them around and give them silly gift packs like last time, who do they think they are fooling (actually don't answer that 🤔)

LakesLovely123 · 05/10/2025 17:34

Using such dehumanising language as 'rabid' when describing human beings is so worrying. I really hope you don't work around children, safeguarding issue right there. Who calls people 'rabid'?!

I don't call people rabid generally, just some of the protesters who probably don't even know where gaza is. Many of whom behave in a rabid fashion shouting and carrying on. I hope none of the placard wavers work around children, you're right safeguarding would concern me too.

Yes I mean if we want to talk about 'dehumanising' I think that is a far better example.
