Why has MSM not reported on the condition of the Israeli hostages?

ConscientiousObserver · 02/08/2025 12:19

Pictures showing their terrible state are all over SM.

Why is there nothing in MSM about how starved these young men are who have been held hostage by demonic terrorists in unimaginable conditions for almost TWO YEARS?

This has absolutely disgusted me.

Headlines about Palestinian starvation in Gaza with the only visible evidence of that being sick children who’s medical condition would have contributed to their appearance, but real visible evidence of starvation among the Israeli hostages held by the Palestinians is totally ignored?

It is absurd to expect that a country should be expected to feed its attackers.

Israel left Gaza with a functioning infrastructure, with the wherewithal to manufacture its own energy and water. Gaza received more UN money per capita than any other area, yet Hamas chose to spend it on terrorism and keep Gaza dependent upon Israel, rather than develop an independent infrastructure. Hamas bit the hand that fed it.

I do not agree with Netanyahu's actions, nor his extremist government. Their blockade makes them Hamas's puppets.

That’s it then. That’s all that is needed to be said about why they look like like they are suffering torture.

You might think that's all there is to be said. I think there is another layer that you're choosing not to engage with.

I looked for this post on Facebook because I noticed the laughing emoji. 234 out of 994 named people decided that laughing was an appropriate response to that story.

(for comparison I looked at some stories of Gazan children and there were also laughing emojis, but only 10-30 out of 2.5k emojis).

I know. Isn't it awful? Whatever your views on the actions of the Israeli government, have some humanity for god's sake. Poor man.

Yes I’m aware you need to do that and overall it’s sickening. Hamas, the state of Evyatar David, his reality and the posts on here. Awful.

SpaceRaccoon · 03/08/2025 16:46

Well whatever state the people of Gaza are in is what I’d assume the hostages look like right now because no food or water getting in is bad for both of them.

Yet oddly enough, the arm of the man in the picture is well-muscled, with no signs of wastage - clearly well-nourished:

Please do not try to insinuate that I'm antisemitic. I am not.

I couldn't have been clearer about what I think of Hamas, and that I hold them entirely responsible for the atrocities that they have perpetrated and are continuing to perpetrate. However, I hold the Israeli government responsible for their actions, and I believe that, in this instance, the Israeli government's actions are contributing to a lack of food in Gaza, which is affecting the hostages as well as the Palestinian people.

You are entitled to disagree with me, of course, but if you are going to descend into suggesting that anyone who dares to criticise the Israeli government is inherently antisemitic, then you undermine your own argument. I am not prepared to engage with that.

Really? The israeli government’s actions by facilitating more aid into Gaza than any other war in history is contributing to a lack of food in Gaza?

Sorry, but I don't use Twitter any more, it's a cesspit.

Can you share some evidence from a more reliable source?

Well considering the MSM aren’t reporting on this, you could use Telegram or Instagram which is where the majority of Hamas video propaganda comes directly from and which is believed by many wholeheartedly!

These videos are taken from Gazan Telegram channels.

You do know Heads of State, government officials and MSM post on X, even Kier Starmer does!

The link shows a video with men with assault rifles shooting from inside and from standing on top of trucks clearly filled with aid to deter civilians from approaching the trucks which are moving fast anyway, while civilians run toward the trucks. They drop a few sacks of flour which civilians can then be seen trying to scoop up off the ground.

Do the UN use assault rifles to fire towards civilians when distributing aid?

@ConscientiousObserver have you seen this one also?

There's a Telegram link in the comments that is the source of this, I won't post it though as I'm nervous about the legality of amplifying terrorist channels.

Sorry, I am not going to believe a random source on Twitter just because some politicians still post on it.

Perhaps if Israel allowed international journalists into Gaza, we would all have a better idea of exactly what's going on.

If you open X and go to the comments you'll see the Telegram channel which is straight from the horse's mouth, as it were.

Lindos1 · 03/08/2025 17:57

The gap between what's happening IRL, & what the MSM report on, is ever- widening & actually quite insane.
Unfortunately, not enough people seem to understand this.

Sorry, but Telegram is just another right leaning social media platform.

I'm happy to engage with reports from reliable sources but I'm not really interested in stuff that is just being spread on social media. There is tons of disinformation from all sides.

Telegram is a secure messenging channel, not a social media platform. The group that is linked is actual Hamas members uploading their videos all proud.

Same platform they used to proudly live stream their Oct 7th atrocities.

Yep, and why would anyone want to trust a platform like that?

And of course it is a social media platform. Look at what it does.

There is lots of disinformation on all social media platforms and from all sides. I am more interested in credible sources which seek to independently verify what they are publishing. But each to their own.

No I won’t go on Hamas/Gaza Telegram itself as I worry I might be linked as being as supporter but there are lots of others in the region who watch it to show what’s actually going on and we know the MSM won’t show it.

I saw that video, posted it on another thread, and it is shocking and of course the Israelis have been saying this since the start of the war, and it explains a lot, including a possible reason for high civilian injuries.

He’s firing off those rockets right in a refugee area, with no regard at all for who he may be hitting or where it will land, even unexploded rockets can land and later explode if kicked or picked up.

As would illegal settlers and many high profile Israel religious and political leaders starve and exterminate Palestinian civilians.

Both groups of “leaders” are equally culpable. Meanwhile, ordinary people in both nations continue to suffer.

EasternStandard · 03/08/2025 18:54

Speaking of SM and circulating information how do we have the information which confirms who is targeting citizens as they approach food sites?

SpaceRaccoon · 03/08/2025 18:57

Not as far as I'm aware. I know that there have been claim after claim by Hamas of mass shoottings at the aid sites, reported by the media, ranging from dozens to hundreds dead, but I'm not aware of any specific evidence like footage of the supposed incidents.

PinkBobby · 03/08/2025 19:07

I was wondering whether the MSM were hesitant/slow to publish the images after the stream of famine related articles of late and worrying they’d be accused of circulating images that would be seen as part of that narrative (so being seen to blame Israel). I imagine they are getting more and more cautious about appearing to take sides. Or perhaps they worried about verification after some of the images in recent weeks have been seen as misinformation.

The world needs to see these images though. As much as I see the actions of the Israeli government as awful, everyone needs to remember that Hamas are committing their own war crimes and the hostages are more innocent people stuck in the middle of this awful conflict.

ConscientiousObserver · 03/08/2025 19:20

Netanyahu has asked the Regional Head of the Red Cross for involvement with the hostages.

Wonder if that will happen seeing as they apparently refused to even get essential medication to the hostages at the beginning of the war.

Sickening. I actually found it hard to sleep thinking of this poor man kept in tunnels for nearly two years, now emaciated and ordered to do this.

It’s dystopian.

Kendodd · 03/08/2025 22:19

Well it has been reported. Its been on the BBC TV news. That's about as high profile as news reporting gets surely.
