Conflict in the Middle East

Why has MSM not reported on the condition of the Israeli hostages?

ConscientiousObserver · 02/08/2025 12:19

Pictures showing their terrible state are all over SM.

Why is there nothing in MSM about how starved these young men are who have been held hostage by demonic terrorists in unimaginable conditions for almost TWO YEARS?

This has absolutely disgusted me.

Headlines about Palestinian starvation in Gaza with the only visible evidence of that being sick children who’s medical condition would have contributed to their appearance, but real visible evidence of starvation among the Israeli hostages held by the Palestinians is totally ignored?

The lack of food in Gaza is incidental to Hamas starving hostages because they starved hostages when there was food. The food crisis in Gaza could end tomorrow, would you be confident that they would then feed this poor man properly? If no, then the lack of food is irrelevant.

EasternStandard · 03/08/2025 14:36

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 03/08/2025 14:25

Yes, Hamas probably do have food for themselves...at least for the higher ranking ones amongst them. But there is not enough food for the population of Gaza as a whole. And if food is scarce, I would not imagine that terrorists without any moral compass will be prioritising anyone but themselves.

Personally, I don't expect terrorists to be compassionate or responsible. They don't give a shit about the hostages or the Palestinian people as far as I can see.

The fact remains that Israel is blocking food getting in, and everyone except Hamas will struggle to eat as a result.

No, food could easily be shared by Hamas with their hostages. What you are seeing is brutal torture. He’s filmed digging his own grave. It’s barbaric.

Don’t give terrorists an inch on this. It’s planned and effective.

It is absolutely right to say that Hamas are the ones torturing and brutalising Evyatar David and the other hostages. What Hamas has done is abhorrent and unforgivable, no question.

But the lack of food in Gaza at the moment - which is affecting both the Palestinian people and the hostages - is the result of the Israeli government's actions. Acknowledging that does not minimise the terrible crimes that have been committed by Hamas, it merely acknowledges that the Israeli government is also contributing to the suffering.

Do you really think Hamas would feed hostages even if they had 10 years supply of food at their disposal?

LadyCankleOfGrantham · 03/08/2025 14:40

I mean maybe Hamas could do some things to make Israel agree to more good. Why is it all on the country who had war started on them to feed their killers and oppressors?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 03/08/2025 14:41

But what makes you think that Hamas would share food with the hostages when they won't even share it with their Palestinian neighbours who are starving? We know what Hamas are. I don't understand why you would expect terrorists to behave like normal, compassionate people? It is inevitable in a time of food scarcity that cruel people will hoard any available food for themselves.

EasternStandard · 03/08/2025 14:42

The filming of Evyatar David shows the extreme processes Hamas will use. We’re now negotiating with them due to public pressure.

Yes, because it is in their interests to keep the hostages alive as a bargaining tool.

The point pp are addressing is that his condition is wholly on Hamas and their barbaric actions.

So why have they killed and starved so many previously?

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 03/08/2025 14:48

Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, I understand videos of both hostages have been made / sent.
I understand it is up to the families of these hostages if the videos get released.

I also believe that Rom Braslavski is / was being held by Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

They are keeping the dead bodies of hostages as a bargaining tool. Dead or alive they’ll use them.

Of course, they are barbaric and don't care who they kill. It serves their cause to kill some of the hostages but it is also helpful for them to have some who are still alive.

It is absurd to expect Hamas to have even a shred of human decency after the atrocities that they perpetrated on October 7th. We know that they are evil people.

But from my perspective, it is equally absurd for the Israeli government to block food supplies to Gaza to the extent that vast swathes of the population are malnourished and on the brink of starvation and expect that the Israeli hostages will somehow be insulated from the impact of this.

Everyone in Gaza is hungry except for those at the top of Hamas.

Hamas are not hungry, not even the lower down levels. Look at the images at that ridiculous and inhumane parade where Hamas stood with weapons, well fed.

I don’t mind discussing hunger within the broader population but this take that Evyatar David is not wholly under the charge of Hamas and the food they release is wrong.

It’s minimising the actions of Hamas.

Their psychological and physical torture is all theirs to own.

But if Hamas had food to spare, who do you think they would prioritise - Israeli hostages or other Palestinians? Of course they aren't releasing food, they are keeping it for themselves because there is not enough to go around.

I'm absolutely not minimising the brutality of Hamas. They are absolutely the lowest of the low, and the atrocities that they have perpetrated are unforgivable.

I'm just saying that it's ridiculous to expect the hostages to be well fed when the rest of the Palestinian people are hungry. The fact that Hamas may be hoarding food for themselves doesn't change that...of course they will hoard when food is scarce because they don't care about anyone but themselves.

So if it’s absurd to expect Hamas to behave reasonably, why should Israel meet their demands and feed their people?

It’s torture. That’s all it is. It’s in keeping with the video. Did you watch where they demand him to dig his own grave?

You’re better off letting this one go and arguing for the people separately. Don’t even use the lack of food for why he is being tortured.

Hamas would starve and mistreat hostages if they had enough food to last 100 years.

Hamas are Palestine’s government. They’re aren’t an independent entity. Why should Israel bend to Hamas’s demands when they refuse to lay down their arms or return hostages?

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 03/08/2025 15:49

Please do not try to insinuate that I'm antisemitic. I am not.

I couldn't have been clearer about what I think of Hamas, and that I hold them entirely responsible for the atrocities that they have perpetrated and are continuing to perpetrate. However, I hold the Israeli government responsible for their actions, and I believe that, in this instance, the Israeli government's actions are contributing to a lack of food in Gaza, which is affecting the hostages as well as the Palestinian people.

You are entitled to disagree with me, of course, but if you are going to descend into suggesting that anyone who dares to criticise the Israeli government is inherently antisemitic, then you undermine your own argument. I am not prepared to engage with that.

What’s impacting the hostages is torture. Did you watch the video?

Did you see the well fed Hamas terrorists standing next to the released hostages last time?

That’s it then. That’s all that is needed to be said about why they look like like they are suffering torture.
