Conflict in the Middle East
Dangermoo · 02/08/2025 10:18

Will repeat what I said on deleted thread. What a conundrum for Macron.

SpaceRaccoon · 02/08/2025 10:32

I'm more surpised that the French authorities are actually acting on this tbh.

EasternStandard · 02/08/2025 10:35

Hmm problematic

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 02/08/2025 10:37

Very disappointing that Palestinians as a whole are being punished for the actions of one. I'm sure there's a word for this

After social media posts by ‘refugee’ of ‘death to all Jews’ and Nazi support.

Quelle surprise.

https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2025/08/01/france-suspends-gaza-evacuations-over-antisemitic-posts-by-palestinian-student

France realizes what Egypt, Jordan etc already know.

Quelle surprise
Do you agree with a population of people being punished for the actions of one?

Why are you being cryptic here say what you want to say

EasternStandard · 02/08/2025 10:41

It looks like they thought the screening would avoid this, so need to review it all again.

I'm sure Qatar's billions will fund the new screening model.

Yes. I agree. This person probably seemed perfectly reasonable until she felt safe in France, then revealed her true colors. Why should the French, or any government, take that risk?

Just one Palestinian person has these views?!

Right. So rhere weren't widespread celebrations in Gaza from the ordinary population regarding the massacre on October 7th.

That's not what I'm saying, that is what is being used as the reason the French government has suspended Gazan evacuations. Would you like if this was used as a reason for suspending you from entering other countries? I mean less face it all of us have fellow countrymen that are racists, criminals, rapists etc etc.

Yes. I agree

Fair enough. So is it fair then to associate all Israelis with the words and actions of the illegal settlers? the right wing ministers? the posters on social media that call for the deaths of all Palestinians? The Israelis that are actively trying to block aid into Gaza? and so on.

The figure in April of Palestinians from Gaza being evacuated to France was 100 so I'm sure that's increased since then but 1 individuals social media posts is being used to stop more.

For good reason if you can't discuss this without negatively stereotyping a whole group of people the issue is with you.

Don't worry we know exactly what you mean. Your feelings about Palestinians are clear for us all to see

Are you turning against France now too @ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend ?

Add them to the list of awful countries (including the UK) that are part of the problem.

What are you talking about? Turning against fgs talk about twisting things.

Are you unable to disagree with decisions and policies made by a countries government without "turning against them" how odd.

Can you list the other countries I've turned against? As you said "too" as if there's more

Twiglets1 · 02/08/2025 11:29

Personally I think it’s sensible of France to temporarily suspend Gaza evacuations until they can review the screening processes. France does not want people with extremist views like that in their country with its liberal values.

You’ve been critical of the UK government too haven’t you with their attitude to Gaza?

Or indeed participating with great enthusiasm. Gazan civilian mobs carried out a lot of the attacks and (according to survivor accounts) enjoyed going "above and beyond" Hamas's official brief.

Review the screening but what happens to those in desperate need of evacuation in the meantime?

Really you're comparing the desperate need for civilians to be evacuated to football hooligans being banned from European matches. British people weren't banned from going to these countries their fans were banned from attending games.

Why aren't British and Irish people banned from Spain with all their drug lords lauding it up in the costs del sol

I guess they have to wait. They can’t risk it if it’s not working to assess properly.

i know you say urgently btw but there’s not really a way around it, the system needs to work.

XXLfiles · 02/08/2025 11:50

Some countries do localises visa suspension, and imho rightfully. It's usually because large group from x caused considerable issues, crimes etc. Or it happened even in cases of persistent visa scams by agencies in some areas which were sending people in on visit visa instead of work one and then just told them to fuck off.

I am with france on this tbh. They already have issues, they don't need more so screening needs to be updated.
