Many of you will already have read about this. Paediatric specialist Dr Alaa al-Najjar was on duty when the bodies of nine of her 10 children were received by her in the hospital, after a strike in Khan Younis hit her home.

This report just stopped me in my tracks. I don't know what to say beyond this. I cannot stop thinking about this poor woman tonight.

er children killed by a strike in Khan Younis. Guardian link

It’s genocide.

Enrichetta · 24/05/2025 23:35

I saw the headline but couldn’t bear to open the article.

How does anyone come back from this….., And yet, she has to live for her one surviving child.

when will this end?

It ends then no Palestinians are alive and Israel has gained claim over the entire area.

Yes because the lesson to take away from thousands of years of people trying to kill you and then committing a real genocide is to be pacifists and listen to the moralising descendents of those who killed your grandparents.

Yes because prior to October 7th that was what Israel was doing... The ruling entity of Gaza started the war. It will end when Israel is forced to end it by the USA or Hamas disarms, whatever comes first.

What evidence? Evidence that demonstrates that it is a genocide rather than a war

This is sadly exactly what they are trying to do. Eradication of a whole nation , they say it’s to destroy hamas but the reality is the goal is to wipe out everyone to have an empty land they can walk straight into. Hamas terrorist, man, woman , child , baby - any living human is the target now.

Why am I wicked? All these big words but no substance.

Yes because that is why they started the war rather than because the governing authority of Gaza carried out genocidal atrocities.

Grow up

I also can't stop thinking about this poor woman.

The level of Israel's response to the October attack has been utterly disproportionate and unjustifiable. Roughly a third of deaths have been children. There has been no effort to mitigate collateral damage. Israel has blocked food and basic resources being distributed to civilians, targeted medics (and their families) and killed journalists. They've conducted a catalogue of war crimes while we watch our spineless politicians do nothing about it.

When Gazans were asked why they didn't evacuate this latest raid they pointed out they had nowhere to run to, roughly 80% of the land is under attack and resources are generally scarce. Who would leave their house to live in a tent that could also be bombed, or risk getting killed en route?

I feel also so very sad for that poor boy, when (if) he wakes up he will have to learn of the loss of all of his siblings.

I do agree with you actually that what hamas did was barbaric and I honestly think that initially the Israeli response was to destroy just Hamas terrorists and free hostages but that mission has now changed and evolved and has become something more sinister

Yassnass145 · 25/05/2025 22:50

Absolutely disgusting that some posters on here are even debating if this is a genocide.

Wtf.

These poor innocent men, women and children being killed for land. That's the war goal and Israel has taken over so much of Gaza.

DandelionPockets · 25/05/2025 22:53

Completely horrific, that poor woman. Those poor babies.

Billions of people of the world who don't fall into this category think it's a genocide too.

The thing is that to be honest I don't even support the continuation of the war. Mainly because there is no plan for the day after, and without such a plan it is not justified.

But I really don't like it that the war that the Jewish state is involved in is genocide. Not Yemen, not Syria not countless others. No Jews, no news, right. So yes, maybe the whole world thinks it is genocide but I really think that reflects on their prejudice rather than what is actually happening on the ground. And I don't support a fair bit of what is happening on the ground.

Screamingabdabz · 25/05/2025 23:28

I purposely don’t follow news about this conflict and I have no skin in the game, but I heard about this on the radio and I cannot fathom - on a human level - how she will get through this. That poor woman and the trauma. I can’t imagine. My prayers are with her, and her little boy. 🙏🏻

Does the genocidal language by the perpetrators make it genocide?
